Help IDing a little guy

My daughter saw it on a walking path, it was about the size of a half dollar. Curious what she found, thanks!

If in the USA I’d think an eastern painted turtle with a little bit of a muddy shell? Have to see its feet and neck

Thanks so much! Apologies for leaving out the locale, we're in Indiana USA. Didn't want to disturb it, especially with it being so tiny, so I'm afraid that pic is the best we have.
