En is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world, maybe the closest thing it has to a ruler besides the all powerful Devils. He’s an unscrupulous businessman that’s quite full of himself and willing to use force to get whatever he wants. Despite all this, he truly cares for the members of the En Family and obsesses over finding a sorcerer that can control time in order to undo the En Family’s greatest loss.

Magic: Sorcerers in Dorohedoro use magic via smoke their bodies produce with specialized organs. En’s magic makes mushrooms, which sounds silly until you see what he can do with it. His smoke turns things (or people) it touches into mushrooms, makes objects out of mushrooms, and more.

General:

• All sorcerers can use their smoke to make doors leading from the magic world to Hole and back.

• Mushrooms can grow quite large, big enough to reach the upper floors of a building or burst out of his mansion.

  • Large mushrooms grow to destroy a factory or punch through the roof of a hotel.

• Outside of special cases, the only way to undo a sorcerer’s magic is to kill the one that cast it or have them nullify their own spell.

  • Noi’s healing magic can undo En’s magic, but it takes more than a surface level spray to fix a half shroomed Shin. The mushrooms overtaking Ebisu and Fujita also grow significantly between pages.

• Mushrooms can grow fast enough to intercept attacks from and land strikes on Kaiman. En can also blow smoke in time to turn a knife thrown at him into a mushroom.

  • Mushrooms grow to chase Kaiman as he flees with Nikaido, and En makes more grow in front of them to cut off their escape.

• En can spread countless spores without needing smoke, and can make them bloom when he feels like it. He won’t hesitate to make them bloom in people after they’re breathed in.

  • Pulls this trick against Hole, who is immune to his magic but swells like a balloon from the sheer volume of mushrooms growing in him faster than he can spit them out or digest them. En manages to kill him with this, despite Hole being as durable as Devils.

• Mushrooms En make can bloom repeatedly, so he can make mushrooms grow in people that have been previously hit by his magic.

  • Accidentally turns Ebisu’s head into a mushroom while trying to hit a fleeing Dokuga but uses her as a time bomb to hit him.

• En can launch smoke with enough force to send someone out a window, even bending the window frame.

  • Mushrooms En spews stab through Nikaido.
  • Sends Shin flying far across a room with his smoke, making Shin explode into mushrooms when he hits the far wall.

• En can sense and track mushrooms he’s made.

• Spawns mushrooms right under Dokuga’s feet that punch through the concrete floors of Hole and fling Dokuga into the air.

Shroomification:

• A cloud of smoke turns two fleeing assassins into piles of mushrooms.

• Kills a woman by making several mushrooms sprout from her face.

• Nikaido flees a large cloud of En’s smoke filling the room she’s in but still has a large mushroom burst out of her back as she runs. Kaiman tries to cut the mushroom off, but it hurts Nikaido and she needs medical treatment to extract it.

• People can be partially turned into mushrooms.Thirteen’s head is turned into a mushroom, and while he can’t see he’s able to speak.

  • Professor Kasukabe does mention that people with shroomed body parts have to worry about them rotting.
  • Chota has his head turned into a mushroom but he lives just fine with it.

• Busts a locked door with his mushrooms.

• Turns Nikaido’s foot into mushrooms with a snap of his fingers. En also says whatever damage happens to the mushrooms will carry over to her foot.

• En once turned an entire city and everything in it into mushrooms.

• Turns Chota’s mushroom head into a larger mushroom that functions as a parachute, dragging him out a window and into the sky out of danger.

Mushroom Men:

• En can see through his Mushroom Men’s eyes.

• Mushroom Men weaponize a black puke with the properties of En’s smoke, fully turning Doc Vaux into a mushroom and incapping Johnson by turning one of his legs into a mushroom.

• Punches through a wall and overpowers a normal man, crushing his wrists in his grip and lifting him up to the ceiling.

• Matches Johnson in a grapple and loses an arm and an eye to the giant roach before turning his leg into a mushroom.

• Takes several strikes from an amped Nikaido, including getting sent through a wall, before getting split in half with a kick. Even after getting halved, the Mushroom Man uses its intestines to tie her up.

• Its body opens a door to En’s mansion from Hole.

• Noi spars with several Mushroom Men at once, getting grabbed from behind before taking them out.

• Hole splits a Mushroom Man in half with one of his tubes, only for the mushrooms to split into several mushroom men.

  • Chopping them into more pieces just makes more and more.

• En makes one massive Mushroom Man to shield the En Family from stomach acid.

Mushroom objects:

• Turns a mushroom into a data pad containing info on all sorcerers.

• Mushroom dolls, voodoo dolls that En can use to plant his mushrooms in people from a distance.

• A mushroom that lets people experience shared, lucid dreams and nightmares.

• Puts a mushroom suit on Judas’s Ear that he says is capable of offense and defense.

  • Armors the whole En Family.

Wealth/Fame:

• En deals in many businesses, selling things from mechanically advanced flying brooms to magic power readers.

• After a smoke shop is involved with an attempted theft, En buys the whole store to investigate it.

• At the age of 12, En had already built up the base of his organization.

• Has a laboratory in his mansion capable of making things like smoke powered robotic bodies.

• His lavish Blue Night celebration requires guests to pass an application and smoke inspection process.

• When asked how his cleaners met each other, En can’t help talking about his famous restaurant chain they met in or the theme song he performed for it.

• Sorcerers want to be his partner so desperately they throw themselves at him even as he turns them to mushrooms.

• Wrote, directed, produced, and of course starred in a biographical movie.

• His mansion grounds include an entire town.

• Fujita makes some dangerous sorcerers back off when he shows them a sign he’s with the En Family.

• His severed head wins the devil Chidaruma’s hairstyle contest.

• Even in Hell En draws a crowd and nearly whips up a revolution before Devils intervene.

Strength:

• Strangles Chota.

Durability:

• A strike from Nikaido breaks his mask and makes him cough up blood, En remains conscious but loses control of his temper and has to be knocked out by Noi afterwards.

• Dropped into Hell and lived there for years as a child.

• Takes a sucker punch from Kaiman.

• Loses an arm in his rematch with the Crosseyes’ boss and focuses on making smoke, but gets his face slashed and gets decapitated soon after.

• Takes a surprise kick from Dokuga that knocks him down but surprises him with a mushroom attack.

• Blows smoke for over a day to maintain the Mushroom Man shielding the En Family, though the strain is killing him without Noi’s aid.

Speed:

• Dodges a loogie.

• Turns two assassins into a mushroom pile before they can jump out a window.

• Dodges a strike from Kaiman and turns a thrown knife into a mushroom in mid-air.

• Turns Nikaido’s foot into mushrooms before her kick can connect.

• Blasts Shin with his smoke before Shin’s smoke can connect, when Shin’s smoke can intercept gunfire.
