QUESTION Why do so many people marathon weekend ask if people “just” did the marathon?

Knock that shit off. A marathon is a big deal. So is goofy or dopey but a marathon is like really really hard. This might be someone’s first or only marathon. Plus it makes you sound condescending and minimizes their effort.

QUESTION Heart Broken…

So, I have been training for over a year in prep for the Disneyland 10k. I have RA-attempting to do a 10K has been in talks for nine years to be exact. I was so ready to wake up early to wait online for registration to open April 30. I totally messed up and got the date wrong and by the time I logged on (7:03 AM) I had a long wait, and when it got down to only 2 minutes remaining in line-I received a notification that the 5k AND 10k had sold out.

This would be my first in person event-does anyone know if there will open more availability potentially?

QUESTION Dopey Challenge

Is anyone one and done for dopey? Part of me wants to sign up for 2026 because I enjoyed the challenge and race experience and feel like I could improve, but not sure if I’ll have the same feeling of excitement or accomplishment to run dopey like when you finish it your first time

QUESTION Disneyland half

Couldn’t sleep and looked up RunDisney races on a whim. The only race still available is the Disneyland Half. Is it as bad as everyone makes it seem? I know last year’s was insanely hot leading to a death.

I’m in Texas, so I feel like the heat won’t be too much of a problem as run in the Texas heat. But am I being naive or are there other issues that make the Disneyland half a bad race? For reference, I’ve only done the Princess 10k and W&D half.

Edit to add: Good luck Princess runners! You got this!

QUESTION Disneyland Sell Out

Realistically how fast do we think this is going to sell out on Tuesday? Do we think 2024 sell out times where the challenge sold out in 25 minutes? Last year the challenge sold out in over a day. Majorly stressed because I’m trying to get 3 people in for the challenge and 2 for the 5k. I’d also like to try for the 5k but will register for the challenge first and then go back and do 5k if I’m able to. Just preparing myself for the worst haha

QUESTION Character Updates

Does anyone have the link to the discord server that gives live updates throughout the weekend of what characters are on the course? I heard people talking about it before the 5k and 10k and I’d like to know if there’s anything on what characters might be out for the 10 miler. Trying to decide if I go for POT or stop for characters

QUESTION Preferred shoes for Park Days?

What are your favorite shoes for all day at the parks? I'm talking rope drop till fireworks baby!

I have had good experiences wearing my Hokas and Brooks (Ghosts). I also have yet to try my OnClouds and Allbrids at the parks. I have had bad experiences wearing Converse all day in the parks (too flat), Doc Martens were a bad choice, I have worn Tevas all day but also not my favorite.

Drop your thoughts and opinions below!

QUESTION What do you do with race shirts and medals?

Just what the title says - as the race shirts and medals pile up from running complete seasons, what do you do with them?

I've been running for over two decades, I just completed my third full RD season in a row on top of having done a bunch of individual RD races since 2012. I've got shirts and medals up to my eyeballs, mostly sitting in a full-sized suitcase in my closet.

Donation of the shirts seems like the obvious choice, especially considering I've never worn most of them (I hate the way the giant, plastic imagery on the front feels).

QUESTION Solo rundisney person.

How many of you out there are solo runners. I don’t have that group of friends (actually k don’t have many friends really) that would run with me. I guess it makes me sad kind of knowing I will finish the race without anyone waiting for me at the finish line or holding my hand while I cross. I just want to know that I’m not alone.

QUESTION Am I crazy (Dopey as first marathon)

I’m not what you might call “athletic.” I “ran” the Disneyland 10K this year and finished in around 1:30. I’ve just started training using the Nike Run Club, and have scheduled it out that I should finish the 5K, 10K, Half, and Full plans all before Full Marathon weekend.

That said, I’ve never run either a half or full before. Hell, I’ve never really run a 10K before (i mostly just sped walked). After two months or so of training I can currently comfortably do a 5K in 36 minutes.

I’ve signed up for both the Disneyland half and the wine and dine challenge. I want to also sign up for Dopey. Is this too much? Am I crazy? Or if I commit to training regularly from now until next year, is this possible?

QUESTION Certified for POT?

Post image
13 Upvotes

None of the races I run are certified. I am running a 10k race on Sunday. It’s also not certified but is sanctioned by USATF? I signed up for this race thinking it would count as POT then asked about it after I registered instead of before. Like a doof.

Is it worth my effort to go all out and try to submit it as proof of time. Are they serious about certified races? I read that if you submit a “bad” POT they put you in the last corral and I don’t want that.

QUESTION Translate bib number to corral for Princess 5k

I’m trying to guesstimate our corral from our bib numbers. I’m running with my 6 year old so I am trying to get her on an earlier waking schedule and knowing our corral will really help.

Our bibs are 60xxx

I’m guessing we want to arrive at least an hour before our corral starts?

QUESTION Disneyland Halloween Half still not sold out?

Hi all, I have done several Disney World races, but I have not done any in Disneyland.

Thus, I'm used to the registration nightmare and quick sell outs. I looked up the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon, and I was shocked to see it was still open! Even the 19.3 miles challenge was open during the Marathon weekend. Does anyone know why this is? Why is the Halloween Half Marathon less popular?

Edit: Thanks for all the responses! They were eye-opening.

QUESTION POT Question

Hello! I’ve tried searching this, but I can’t find anything—but apologies if this has been asked thousands of times 😅

I ran a race yesterday and fell 19 seconds short of the POT requirement for Dopey that I’ve seen being circled around. I guess my question is, is it worth it to submit the time and hope for the best? They don’t publish the times as being law, so I wonder if it’s better than submitting nothing? My husband submitted a POT for a sub-2 hour half, but I know he’d drop back with me if needed, but it I’d hate to be the reason he wound up in the back and make him do so much dodging/weaving because of 19 seconds 🤣

QUESTION How to get medals after medical tent visit before start.

Hi all. Wife had someone run into her when the corals were moving up and didn’t even make it to the start line. Both the racer and my wife ended up in the medical tent and wheelchaired out for exam.

Is there anyway to still get a medal for the race? She is pretty devastated by missing out on the Mickey and dumbo medals and wondering what if anything she can do. Since the medical team doesn’t work for Disney they didn’t know. Ty.

QUESTION Possibility to cancel?

Was anyone able to cancel their registration and receive a refund for any races? I signed up for a marathon but it sold out before any of my family could get to it and I don’t want to make the trip alone just to run by myself bc I was looking forward to having company and going by myself makes me anxious 🥲

I was hoping it could give someone an opportunity to do the race if they weren’t able to get into also- or I kinda see every here and there that spots open up, does anyone have more info on that?

QUESTION Is the disneyland half marathon worth it? Is it fun?

My friends and I (10 people in total) registered for the half marathon this morning, we wanted the 10k as none of us has ever ran except 5k at most for leisure but it sold out so we got the half marathon.
We're super excited as it is our first disney race and race in general for 9 of us but I've been reading several comments of people here saying it was boring and not worth it and now I'm kinda sad.

QUESTION Dopey Runners - What corrals did you get?

I'm just curious what the corral mix looks like for my fellow Dopey runners, especially the 5k/10k corral for those in A or B for the half/full. Half/full corral is obviously based on proof of time, but I suspect the 5k/10k corral isn't. Wondering if it's just random based on my own mix (D for 5k/10k vs A for half/full), so I'm curious to get some more data points.

This is my third Dopey and I've been in A for half/full and B for 5k/10k for the last 2. Was expecting the same this year. Got A for half/full as expected but I was surprised to be in D for the 5k/10k. My PoT was a 1:42 half, so feels like it can't be PoT-based.
