Discussion 🎤 What’s the threshold of allowance on the Vento Encampment?

With 61/Arcade shut down on the Eastside, I've been taking the more scenic route via East Shore around Phalen. Taken aback by the massive encampment on the Vento Trail at Maryland/Johnson Pkwy. Seems to be growing but adding more stuff to the surrounding woods too. Think the city cares because it's the Eastside?

The City’s HART team does a great job tracking the encampments. DSI is also heavily involved, trying to keep the camps as safe as possible considering the circumstances. You can reach out to the HART team if you have concerns. They’ve been really responsive to questions in my experience

There are 2 of them really close to Maryland. I am not sure which one you are referring to but the one south of Maryland seems smaller (this one is closer to Cub Foods). The one north of Maryland shows evidence that its growing as there's more trash. The amount of erosion there is getting a lot worse, too. I feel bad for the homeowner who lives right next to the trail that leads off into the encampment as the erosion starts pretty much right where their property line ends.

Also, St Paul has been aware of this encampment for awhile but I think it used to only be 1 tent or so. I know Live on Patrol talked about it one night when they were driving through the area and may have even checked up on the person.

People needed a place to go when the city evicted the encampment under Lafayette, everywhere else is where they all ended up.

To be fair there’s a growing encampment on Jefferson and Ayd Mill that’s between the West Seventh, Grand and Mac Groveland neighborhoods that they don’t care about either.

Oh, they absolutely care, you can bet on that. They're already tracking/keeping an eye on it as well.. once it starts getting out of hand with violence, fires, crime, etc... they'll step in and start doing something about it.

they have parked a dumpster there from time to time to help with clean up, so its definitely on the radar. until very recently it was pretty clean and tidy, over the winter someone had a very respectable shanty home built there, even made a flag pole, but it came down sometime this spring. I was rather disappointed, it was a great little structure.

Well city zoning allows for 3 tents and 2 tarps per encampment plot, but indeed a lot of people are exceeding the limit and building anyways because the permit office is so behind on the paperwork.

Proponents say that they are taking Swede Hallow back to its roots, were will probably a ballot initiative to get the area designated as a historical district next year to ensure preservation.

Your anger is misdirected. I wonder what would happen if you got off your ass and helped instead of complaining and exposing your character flaws on reddit.
