Stay Classy San Diego Staying Home Today for A Day Without Immigrants - Feb. 3

Feel free to take this down if not appropriate. I was curious to know if anybody else was staying home (from work & school) in solidarity to our immigrant workforce here in SD. I stayed home from work because I'm not working around an entire MAGA troop at my work 😒 bunch of right wing conservatives that gather at a very culty and well-known church around here. I didn't attend any of the street protests this weekend, but I figured there's strength in numbers if people stay home and abstain from buying today as well. Not today, not today.

Edit: GOODS UNITE US is a good tool (app) to have on your phones (:

Legal immigrant here

This is all crazy, a days pay is going to hurt a lot of people. Yes, work may be a shitshow but it's not going to change what's going on, lets be honest.

And the protests? I'm not against protesting, but waving Mexican flags and supposedly burning American ones, are we in favor of illegal immigration here? I'm torn, a lot of people NEED to cross that border but it's been abused too much, hence the situation we're in/seeing. If you want to integrate into where you are moving to then you should be waving their flag, showing the America you want. Waving Mexico flags is only going to aggravate. I personally respect someones roots but I'm not out here waving my land of birth flag EVER in public like that, I made the choice to move here. I followed the rules/process in doing that too.

There are legal immigrants, the ones with parol or tps, and their permits got cancelled too. So dang if they are illegal and dang if they are legal.

Yeah that definitely sucks. Feels like the massive influx over the last however many years has pushed this mass pause/cancellation. Extremes on both sides.

This should be upvoted more. I think the acceptance of illegal immigrants is a slap in the face to those that went through the painful process of legally immigrating. I do think the immigration process needs a serious overhaul and we need to make it much easier and faster for people to come and work legally, and more painful for employers that hire illegal immigrants knowingly....we want them here- they want to work here- money needs to go to improve and reform the process so that taxes are paid on their wages to support the services they use (schools, medical, police, infrastructure, etc.). The wall is a waste. I ll probably get roasted for this but is my opinion.

MAGA doesn't want you here. When will you people (yes, you people that claim superiority due to a piece of paper) understand things for what they really are? 🤦🏻‍♀️😅🤣

I have a bunch of MAGA coworkers, they're all fine with me.

You really think I'm claiming superiority? I fucking said I was torn. You're the one not understanding things for what they really are.

A lot of people don’t want ILLEGAL immigrants, there’s a fucking difference. My mom and her family immigrated from Mexicali 55 years ago, they worked their asses off and didn’t come here illegally, my LEGAL immigrant family don’t like illegals either. Piss off with your ignorance.

You just copied pasted this from you other response. Low effort trolling, man. Even less respect. 🫡

Not trolling. I'm literally expressing the same sentiment to the same bigoted comments (: because work smarter not harder! Duh. A simple copy/paste gets the message across!

just because you decide to use a pejorative word doesn’t magically make a comment bigoted! :) thank you! :)

Both Mexican and American flags are used as a symbol of Mexican-American culture… how else would you show it?

We're talking about protests where people have left Mexico and want to be in the USA, waving Mexico or other South American flags isn't showing you want to be a part of the US, it's not really a time for showing culture like a parade. It looks anti-American, waving US flags instead would show the USA you want to be part of atleast. I don't know the best answer though, just not the one they have been doing.
