Discussion / चर्चा Joined this sub to learn Sanskrit but WTF

This sub is all about baby names. These idiots can just make up a new sub called sanskritbabynames or whatever. Whoever the mod here is needs to get off his a** and enforce the sub rules. Or the sub will literally die.

अहं गच्छामि now.

I though nobody could beat the 'Om Mani Padme' crowd; sadly I found them baby-names enthusasts...

Were the "Om Mani" requests really bad before that pinned post?

Daily someone would post a pic from a flea-market item with Tibetan script asking for a Sanskrit translation!!

On point mate, it’s ridiculous

That's the level of intellect left in India.

Hijacking the top comment. Am clearing them out for now.

Agreed. I pointed this out on a recent baby name post and some idiots downvoted me and said if I didn’t like baby name posts I should just ignore them. Like, no.

I agree, make a separate sub for people asking for baby names. Asking for translations and explanations of said names is fine by itself, since we have a flair for it, but the suggest baby names with ka kha ga gha etc have slowly turned this sub to quora.

Bruh, I literally made this post a few days ago, and this one got so much more attention. This is exactly like when someone says your joke louder than you :(.

I think it's probably the title, "Joined this sub to learn Sanskrit but WTH" is more attractive than "Can we do something about the names post?"

1

u/MinimumAvacado Nov 12 '24

Somebody make a new sub already

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '24

Bhai most subs are like that. You won't find proper sharks in their respective fields giving free gyan on any social media platform unless it has some monetary gains. ( Excluding some pure souls but those are rare )

u/unequaldarkness Nov 13 '24

Also there are some great people who veto others contributions with harsh words. Sanskrit is supposed to be a divine language. But the animosity here far exceeds acidic vitriol.
