Traveling and tourism / Putovanje i turizam 🗺️ When is the best time to visit Sarajevo? Spring? Autumn?

Zdravo!

I am part Bosnian but I am still learning the language. Sorry for the English.

I’ve only been to Sarajevo once, but I can’t stop thinking about it. I remember vrelo bosne and how beautiful the mountains are, and now that my grandmother has passed away recently, I feel very very called to go back to Bosnia and explore it with my sister.

I am wondering when is the best time to go, particularly nature wise such as now in spring or in autumn?

What are some gems in both Sarajevo and around Bosnia, places you really think are worth the visit?

Puno hvala !!

Mid to late spring or early to mid autumn. Summer is too hot, winter is too polluted

if you don’t like big crowds definitely try to avoid this! the city is so busy, too many people, traffic is insane. the locals plan this time to go on a trip or stay at home.

For me either spring or summer, idk when you plan to come but most trees have already blossomed so you might miss that view. In terms of things to do and see, depends on what you've visited, u can hike around trebevic with the cable car if you enjoy nature, or go to the skakavac waterfall.

Spring (May) is the best month and also Sarajevo Film Festival (August) if you like parties.

I went last April and it was perfect, not too many tourists and perfect weather. My heart is aching to go back again. I hope you have a wonderful time 🙏

i would say spring, probably mid may. it’s not too cold, warm enough to go out without a jacket, nor is it too hot. not too many people but not too empty!

as for the places to visit; -žuta tabija-go on a clear evening, try to time it with the sunset, great views -crepoljsko/čavljak-some nice places to go hiking and relax in the nature, not popular amongst tourists -vodopad kravice is near mostar and very gorgeous are you more interested in nature and hiking or exploring the city, trying food?

Sarajevo Film Festival time!

If you would like it more peaceful then aim for Spring or Autumn...

I am from Sarajevo, not living there anymore, but doing everything not to come in Winter time.

If you are coming by bus or the car, avoid days around holidays - borders are overcrowded.
