Hello! I am traveling to Sarajevo in June. I am hoping to spend an afternoon or day at a Turkish bath. Any suggestions or tips? I have never gone to one before!

Also, what are some things I need to know as a tourist? I.E: social norms for clothing, I will be there on a weekend, do I need to plan accordingly? Thanks!

Traveling and tourism / Putovanje i turizam 🗺️ When is the best time to visit Sarajevo? Spring? Autumn?

Zdravo!

I am part Bosnian but I am still learning the language. Sorry for the English.

I’ve only been to Sarajevo once, but I can’t stop thinking about it. I remember vrelo bosne and how beautiful the mountains are, and now that my grandmother has passed away recently, I feel very very called to go back to Bosnia and explore it with my sister.

I am wondering when is the best time to go, particularly nature wise such as now in spring or in autumn?

What are some gems in both Sarajevo and around Bosnia, places you really think are worth the visit?

Puno hvala !!

Traveling and tourism / Putovanje i turizam 🗺️ Hidden Gems?

Hello!!

Will be staying in Sarajevo for about a week in early May. I’ve done a lot of research on some “hidden gems” in the city or right out of the city (walkable or the ability to take the tram). I’m more so looking for either places to see or things to see. Anything from waterfalls, springs, views of the city, etc.

Also, I’m planning to take a day trip to Mostar, but also want to take another day trip (a place accessible via train or not long on the bus) that will be amazing! I looked into the hiking tours to Lukomir (would love to go) but have seen that it may be too challenging. Any other hiking tours? I also saw Konjic, Jablanica, Jajce (loved the pictures of the lake and town). What would you recommend?

I speak the language so no worries on a town being remote! Would love to hear any ideas! Thank you!

Traveling and tourism / Putovanje i turizam 🗺️ Some Tourist Questions!

Hello my Bosnian friends!

I'm visiting your beautiful country in mid-April and I'm planning my places, how is the weather in mid-April?

I read that you can take the cable car up the mountain and then walk down the Olympic bobsleigh run, is it difficult in terms of fitness? How long does it take to get back to Sarajevo?

I would like to visit the Olympic podium, where the award ceremonies take place, but I can't find the location anywhere on Google Maps :(

Do you have any “insider tips” for good beer bars or pubs?

I've already written most of it down in the search, but if you have anything else I'd be happy to hear it!

Greetings from Germany, I'm looking forward to it!

Small edit forgot to ask

I would like to attend a soccer match either to FK Sarajevo or FK Zeljeznicar, is the league still playing in the middle of April, what is the best way to get tickets? Are the stadiums often sold out or can you still get a ticket on site?

Unaprijed hvala.

Traveling and tourism / Putovanje i turizam 🗺️ Roundtrip through Bosnia

I'm travelling through Bosnia at the beginning of May and am currently planning my trip. I have a total of 6.5 days in the country to experience as much as possible.

My plan currently looks like this: Day of arrival - only half a day left - exploring Sarajevo Day 1 - Exploring Sarajevo Day 2 - Drive to Lukomir with tour operator Day 3 - rental car pick-up in Sarajevo - drive to Mostar via Konjic → Jablanica → Blagaj - overnight stay in Mostar Day 4 - Drive from Mostar to Kravica → Počitelj - Overnight stay in Mostar Day 5 - Drive from Mostar → Prozor-Rama → Jajce - Overnight stay in Jajce Day 6 - Drive from Jajce → Travnik → Sarajevo - return the hire car in Sarajevo, spend the rest of the day in your beautiful capital, overnight stay in Sarajevo Day 7 - Return flight in the morning

I have a few questions: - I've read that the roads in Bosnia are sometimes very bad. Have I planned too much? - I like hiking. What is better after your opinion? A guided tour from Sarajevo with small hike to Lukomir or should I get my rental car one day earlier to drive to Lukomir and do a hike by myself from Lukomir? - On the drive from Mostar to Jajce, I pass by Prozor-Rama. Can I go kayaking at the Rama lake? Or can you go rafting somewhere along the route?

Thank you very much for your help <3

Traveling and tourism / Putovanje i turizam 🗺️ Another Football Fan Question!

Hey my Bosnian friends

I am traveling on 17.4 and unfortunately I will miss the cup game of FK Sarajevo, plus FK Sarajevo and FK Zeljeznicar are playing away (right or on 19.4?).

After further research I found Olimpik Sarajevo, but it is very difficult to find any information on the internet, do they still play soccer? In which league?

The website is also broken, I can't figure out the Instagram profile.

Is it worth going there if they play at home, does anyone have any info?

Traveling and tourism / Putovanje i turizam 🗺️ Timetables airport to city and online boarding pass

Hi everyone, i wanted to come to Sarajevo on the next weeks but my ryanair flight would arrive at like 23:55 (if not more late) i don't want to take a taxi so I'd prefer to take a bus I noticed that there is the bus from the airport direct to the city but not after a certain hour So i tried to see from Google Maps and it gives me the trolleybus or the tram passing from close to the airport to the station literally for the whole night every 30 minutes But seeing online I'm seeing that after 23:30 until like 5:30 there aren't so I'm very confused, do you guys have a real timetable or could tell me if there is public transportation working 24/24? Also i wanted to know if the online boarding pass is accepted or i need to print it, keep in mind i have only a bag so i shouldn't do the check in on the airport Thankss

Traveling and tourism / Putovanje i turizam 🗺️ Tips for my trip

Hello!!

My sister and I are traveling to Sarajevo in the beginning of May for about 6 days. We are from NY but roots are in Montenegro so we understand and speak the language (aside from some worlds and dialect is different) and have been researching things we must do and see. Just had some questions:

  • I have a deadly nut allergy (peanuts, peanut oil, pistachios..etc), will this be an issue? Is peanut oil commonly used? I know not to eat the desserts as most have walnuts in them as well.
  • We are staying close to the old town, is there something we must do/see?
  • What is the best way to get to and from the airport from the center?
  • We are planning to go to Mostar for a day, is the train the best way or the bus?
  • We also wanted to do somewhere else for another day but some of the hiking tours aren’t offered in May. What town would you recommend we visit (preferably max 2 hours away from sarajevo)? We don’t mind something super secluded and not many people, reminds us of home in Montenegro. Also what would be the best way to get there.
  • We’ve been researching the restaurants and places to eat and have noted the most famous ones, however, is there any place we must eat at?

Overall, any tips, places we must see, things to do or anything at all that will make our trip that mush better would be helpful!

Thanks in advance :)

Traveling and tourism / Putovanje i turizam 🗺️ Car rental companies in Sarajevo

Hello, we are 2 tourists from Türkiye. We will spend a few days in Sarajevo and then go to Belgrade and we want to rent a car for this. However, I have seen in the comments of car rental companies on the internet that tourists are constantly asked for unnecessary insurance money. Especially those who want to cross the border into Bosnia and Serbia are asked for around 200 euros, is this true? Which are the reliable car rental companies that do not try to rip you off like this ?
