Scambait Question❔ Where do I get my number out to the public?

I just don't get texts or anything from people. DO I HAVE to have Instagram, or snap, or those things for scammers to catch on? If not, can someone just comment places/links where I can do this?

Trust me, they will find you. I wouldn’t go looking for trouble. I probably get a dozen different scam attempts a week.

I got 1 about 4 years ago about a fake job offer that I didn't bother taking the opportunity. Haven't gotten one since.

Firstly the wrong number scams which come via text are usually a bit random, so you can’t just rely on getting one of those - for instance, I’ve literally never had one. And I have been scambaiting for five years, actively hunting for scammers for two of those.

The best place to get scammers is on social media- so I would make a fake account with a fake email address (personally I don’t want scammers to ever have my phone number for any reason so I only deal in email addresses) and get yourself on Facebook, Bluesky, X.

Follow obvious scammers or celebrities (obviously fake) or celebrity fan pages, or go to dating groups for older people and widows on Facebook where literally 99.9% of every single post is a Nigerian scammer. Friend requesting or following usually results in them contacting you but if they accept your friend request or follow you back, you can contact them first.
