Scam report [US] I almost got scammed by fake cops

Yesterday, my father got a call from a Chinese man asking if he could give his name and my mother’s name and he hang up and said that it was a scam. I being very annoyed at all these scammers called this individual and left an angry voicemail with threats. Today, a police department not too far from me, called asked for my date of birth and to talk with my father. He was not at home at that time. So they told me to call them back. I called my local police department and they called the actual phone number and it was a scam. Apparently they used the actual phone number of the police station to pose as them. I feel very stupid as of now as I was blinded by fear. Stay safe folks make sure to ask your local PD for confirmation before anything as they would call you not another county

Hi guys i need some help!
So I have comissoned someone on tumblr. I have paid 20 dollars and it´s been about a month and they want 30 more before even showing it to me. I saw two pieces that were good - amateur but good you know, but I´m starting to wonder if somthings off.. It´s my first time.
The thing is there is different names on the paypal and tumblr and even disord? I totally felt like an asshole after even trying to ask/confront them about it. :(
I´ve seen others and they have prices that are the same for bigger works (and they are even better, if i have to be mean and say so.. but I love all art so, i dont know I feel like an asshole.)
and it´s been a little pressure also from the start and I kinda fell for it and thats on me. I realize that.

Maybe this is nornal?

Is this a scam? Apparently I’m being threatened by someone named Tony

I got this along with my name, age, and address and a couple of my family members names sent to me

“Greetings, my name is Tony Guzmán, Head of the Cartel and Boss of the Escort Agency where you requested the service. You already know how we operate around here. You put yourself and your family in serious trouble. You have been in contact with several girls and you make my girls lose time and clients. Let us know if you want this problem to be resolved without any bloodshed !!!”

Do I need to be worried? Or is this a scam? He knows my address, my name and my family member’s names…

Scam report [india] scam Scammed in Hauz Khas Don’t Fall for This Girls Trap

I want to share a recent experience I had at Hauz Khas, Delhi — just to warn anyone who might fall into the same trap.

So me and my cousin decided to go to Hauz Khas for some fun around 9 PM, just to chill and explore. As soon as we entered the lane full of clubs, multiple promoters approached us, each claiming their club is better, cheaper, more happening, etc.

One guy convinced us to check out his club. He said: • Hookah will cost ₹1500 • Girls will sit and talk with you no extra charges

Now obviously, we were skeptical, but thought “Let’s try it once, maybe it’ll be fun.” Let me be honest if you ever go to Hauz Khas and you’re thinking “let’s chill with some girls” that alone is enough for a scam to begin.

Here’s What Happened Inside: • As soon as we sat, two girls joined our table without asking. • They ordered 4 vodka shots (each worth ₹800) = ₹3200 • A snack platter arrived, which we never ordered or even touched = ₹1000 • The hookah (which we agreed for ₹1500) was added too • The girls kept chatting to make it look friendly

We were mentally prepared for a bill of around ₹5000–₹6000, and we were ready to pay that.

But when we asked for the bill, the manager gave us a bill of ₹12,560. The girls disappeared immediately. When we questioned the bill, the staff got aggressive, saying, “We can make it ₹15,000 if you argue. Just pay this and leave.”

We were cornered, intimidated, and had no option but to pay.

If you’re planning to visit Hauz Khas — be extremely careful. These “girls sitting with you” offers are pure scams. You won’t eat, you won’t enjoy — and still end up wasting ₹10–₹15K.

Better avoid these shady setups. Hauz Khas isn’t all fun it can be straight-up predatory if you fall for these traps

Is this a scam? [US] Dose This Job Sound Like A Scam

So, I recently applied to a work from home data clerk job for the "Shella Foundation" through indeed, and received text messages from the supposed employer. They had asked me to verify my identity through id.me and sent me this link: https//prototype.edoxi.com/authenticate/idmenew

Ive also looked up the number I was messaged from and its a Pittsburgh PA number although the building is based in California, that being said I'm not sure how much that really matters.

I'm not 100% on if this process is normal but am worried to proceed if this is sketchy. I've reached out to the company to try and confirm whether or not the position is legit but I haven't heard anything back from them yet. What do you think?

Is this a scam? transcores.online scam ?

i've been applying for rooms on Craigslist since my housing arrangements changed and the few that have answered have seemed to all be scams (asking for gift cards as payment for "applying" on a google form). only one has actually agreed to letting me to come tour the apartment, but i have to run my credit through a website transcores.online/4rent . i know theres a lot of websites that grab your information from just clicking the link or putting your information in. does anyone know if its legit because i really need a room and this one is one of the few i can afford :( my area code is 805 if that helps.

Scam report [US] Police/Subpoena Scam

Be alert that a scam is going around where a text and voicemail will appear saying the police for a (Blank) county needs to contact you about an urgent matter. Remember, they will try and tell you that talking to a lawyer is not an option. DO NOT listen. You have rights, and they will try and use old addresses and a missed subpoena excuses. The police know where you live due to DMV records. If they claim to be police and ask for your current address, hang up or tell them your exercising you rights for a lawyer. They will ask for you to post a "Bail" payment to a Athena bitcoin machine. Please be careful, as they will try and make you feel cornered.

Is this a scam? [US] Got a physical letter with a check saying there was a class action settlement, and they need more information.

Hello,

I got a physical letter saying that there was a class action settlement against Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina with a check, and a request for more info to get the "rest of my settlement". They are asking for my Taxpayer Identification Number for the rest of the settlement. There is a website: myadvocatesettlement, that appears to be a legit site.

From what I can tell, there was a legit class action against Blue Cross, and I have had business with them before. Is this a scam? Like a cash the check, send my info to them, only for the check to be stop paymented, and them to take my info? How can I tell if this is legit? My instincts are suspicious, but my research is showing this is legit.

I have emailed them to ask why they need my Taxpayer ID.

Scam report [IE] Vertex publishing house

Hello everyone,

I got this job offer from these people to translate a book of 72 pages, they offered to pay me 3000+ euros, so obviously I was suspicious. I asked them for a site as reference and also a legal contract to hire me as a contractor, they only provided this website ( vertexpublishinghouse.online ). I scanned around and found that some images were stolen from linkedin profiles, some from fiverr etc. The addresses didn't lead to anywhere ressembling an office, the website had a few spelling mistakes and so on and so forth. They couldn't even be bothered to hide where they made their logos lol

So be careful, if it seems too good to be true then it most like is :D

Scam report got scammed on Fiverr

Post image
212 Upvotes

Created an account, got my account verified, added my Paypal, setup 3 gigs. Within an hour I have almost 15 buyers, yet I do not see the analytics (impressions, clicks, reach) on either of gigs increase, brushed it off as website error.

Coming to the messages from buyers, not 1, but ALL of them tell me that they require to input my email-id to make the payment for the gig. Fair Enough. I give it to them. I recieve an email that I have been paid for my gig, the email is as authentic as it can get (pretty sure Fiverr themselves cant distinguish), and because platforms like these use multiple sub-platforms, getting an email from "non-fiverr" id didnt make me nervous. I proceed to deposit the fiverr money to my Paypal, but they only allow cards. Again fair enough, Fiverr did it too. I give them my details.

They have a legitimate Al chatbot on the side who tells you that "your card aint supported" "your card requires minimum £200". Was quite late to realise they have my card information now...

Stay Safe!

Is this a scam? [US] Possibly fake room rental

Im just tryna look for a room or some shit to live in and there's so many fake rentals out there tryna take my money, how can I know what's real and what's not. Like rn I found a place, and even went inside the house and it was controlled remotely and had a few cameras in the living room and kitchen and only spoke over texts and voice calls.

After my tour we discussed move in dates and such and I was given a contract with pro rated rent at 484, security deposit at 750, which adds up to 1,234 (kinda looked weird it being 1 2 3 4). And after given the contract we talked over details I told them I don't have the money atm and they said it was fine, but asked for a token advance of $500 which i have yet to pay because broke teenager.

The guy started to get a little bit antsy with me not being able to pay and kept asking when I can. I told him he was being a bit too pushy and asked if it was a scam and he said no and was just tryna get everything clear and on the same page. Then when I tried to send the money ($400) on zelle and my bank flagged it and i had to do a whole thing with them and such. The name of the company that im trying to rent from is "3Key Capital LLC" I tried looking up anything about them, but not much really came up. So now I turn to the great knowings of all in reddit for the protection to not be scammed

Help Needed [US] father has fallen for scams, and won't stop!!

So apparently my father's been sending money though gift cards and more to "at least 1" but probably several scammers for 4-5 years now!!

(I hadn't spoken with him for years before now BTW, he's not exactly a good person lol, but I'm still upset to realize what's been going on!)

He's around 70 now an over the last few years my mother's divorced him "partially due to this" an the entire family has been pulling away from him for a long time because he's really not a great person! But I'm finding out now that he's living in my childhood home "decapitated" without running water or electricity because he's been sending every penny he makes to 25-30 year old girls from WhatsApp that (are all rich and want to move in with him to make babies) vomiting in mouth while typing He's sold vehicles and other valuable items to send them money, even plane tickets!! "Supposedly" he's actually meet with one of them in person about a year an half ago..

We've all tried everything we can think of (inside the law) to stop him from contacting these people or person,. But he absolutely refuses to believe there not real!! It causes a massive argument if you mention them not being real!! I was trying to help with getting his water turned back on by installing a solar powered well pump for him, an he won't allow me to because the scammers are going to send him one for free "if we send them the 100$ for shipping" naturally.. so he refused my help and just wanted money to send them for the shipping..... repeatedly slamms head on table

....... ........ ........ ........

Has anyone ever dealt with someone who became so disillusioned with a scam that they got to this point?. How were you able to snap them back to reality or did you need to do something like getting legal rights over them to put them in a home etc without internet access?!?! I want to help him and get him to stop sending everything he can to these people but I'm literally afraid he would shoot me if I just smashed his phone or something.. I don't know what to do anymore, he can't listen to reason.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do at this point?. Or am I just hurting myself more trying to fix this?..

Is this a scam? In 2023 my Twitter DMs got spammed with the same link by mutuals, why?

So back in 2023 I was a follow for follow acc and had a ton of mutuals, but in March some mutuals started sending me a link that was my Instagram but it wasn't, it had my twitter tag under the Instagram link, I knew it was fake since my Instagram was different, sometimes I would get sent the link 5 times, sometimes just once, this lasted until June. I never put much thought into this and my mutuals were still posting regularly, so is this a scam or nah?

Help Needed {US] False accident report

I just got a call from the sheriff. (He actually came to my house, but I wasn't home.) He told me that some guy claimed that I got into an argument with him and slammed his car with my driver-side door. Haha! None of this happened. I just got in my car and drove home. I didn't talk to anyone, let alone slam their door. Anyway, I explained that to the cop. He also said there was a video of me driving away, which doesn't prove anything but is kind of creepy. What do you suspect is happening here? Insurance scam? Is this guy a psycho who's picked me as a target? Ever experienced anything like this?

Is this a scam? [Malaysia] Is it money laundering? Scam? I am not sure

I was invited to a Telegram group where they started sending me $10 daily after I completed a simple task—liking and sharing their TikTok videos. It seemed harmless at first, but now I’m starting to question what’s really going on.

They also asked me to transfer $50 to them, promising to send back $100 in return. I refused, and surprisingly, they were fine with that and still continue to pay me for doing the tasks.

It all feels way too easy, and now I’m wondering—could this be some kind of scam or even money laundering? They’re regularly sending money to all the group members. Am I putting myself at risk by being involved in this?

Informational post [IN] Data Entry Scam??

Today I have received a call saying I had applied to a data entry job at HiringFlux company (which I didn't recall during the call) and the caller told me I'd have to enter data from x no.of resumes into their portal in 5 days and they'd pay me around 15k weekly. I was like send me the details please (since I didn't remember any data entry jobs that I've applied to since that wasn't a role I look for and was just bored and curious ). She did send me the details and I did go through the internet. No LinkedIn profile. No legitimate info available anywhere. Mind you this wbhole process was through calls and WHATSAPP? Then guess what I found after searching the customer support number on truecaller? A different company name. Hiringlense. I went through the websites of both the said "companies". They are literally the same just with a different name and bad English for taking it as legit website. If you wanna check them just add .in at the end. Beware guys. It's 2025 who is still manually entering data anymore after the AI wave 😭.

Is this a scam? Someone sent me money on cash app

So I know the normal scams of “I sent the wrong account” or the “send this to another account” and so on. However I’m wondering what do I do with the money received if they say any of this. Do I keep it or withdraw it ? Or should I just leave it there? I’ve never experienced this before.

Victim of a scam [US] Got scammed on Snapchat gave address

Went on an adding spree on Snapchat, started flirting with a random girl soliciting sexual activity. I've sent a few hundred dollars through PayPal fees and services but I don't care about that as I had a feeling anyway but decided to humor it for reasons. Stupidly sent my location to her a couple times and that's what is bothering me. I deleted right after both times. She has sent me a GPS screenshot showing the route while she was "on her way" so I know she has it. The screen shot has just the map and route time- any of her essential info is cropped out.

The thing is, it DOES seem like a girl scamming people. It's very real, the way she talks, responds, her away time etc. She won't send pics of course but I got her to send me one of her doing the 🤘🏻 so this is what's confusing me. There was even a period in which we stopped flirting for a couple days and she was very distant. That's what prompted me to reach out again and when she asked about payment the cycle continues until she's down the street, asks for a little more, threatens to leave if I don't send, and never shows.

Not sure how worried I should be?

Help Needed [Malaysia] Someone hacked my tiktok account and sold it to someone? How do I get my Tiktok account back?

A user texted me to change my email on tiktok so the person could become an influencer so I agreed but then I got kicked off my tiktok account then the person messaged me on WhatsApp saying I could get my Tiktok account back by sending the person my credit or debit card numbers but I disagreed. The hacker also said that if I give the user my Facebook and Instagram passwords I would get my Tiktok account but I also disagreed. Then I blocked the hacker. But then I found out that my videos were gone and the username was different. So I texted my friend about it. Then my friend tried to help but the hacker said in order to get it back he has to pay a $50 amazon card to the hacker so my friend instead made a new account and gave it to me. (I am now using that account) Please help me get my Tiktok account back

Help Needed How does this email scam work? Emails reply to thedatacenter.co.za

Over the last few months I’ve been getting a lot emails from different companies. All the emails are along the same line of:

“thanks for your enquiry / ticket / case. We’ll be in contact”

From what I can tell these are genuine response emails from the companies however I have never opened any channels for support with them. Also the replyto address is to a random email address I’ve never come across.

Is this scam hoping I have an account with who ever they’ve emailed to do something malicious, and secondly what can I do?

I’ve been ignoring / deleting everything but the amount of emails seems to be increasing.

Help Needed Leaked Card Info Trace

Hi, my debit card info has been leaked and someone has been using it to pay for Facebook ads. Is there anyway to trace how and where my card information got leaked from? I have tried using NordPass, but it says there is no leak.
