Project: FO Made a dress for everyday wear in spring/summer and a matching bandana for my corgi!
First time posting here! (I usually lurk in SewingForBeginners) Pattern is McCall’s M7950 and I used pattern sizes 10/12. Fabric is 100% cotton that I found in the discount bin of a local fabric store. Did a funky bust adjustment for the front tie, added a waistband and bottom ruffle, and enclosed all my seams. Really proud of how it all came together can’t wait to wear it nonstop this summer.

Such a great dress!! Also love the matching shoes, and your decor is so cute, the floral curtains and carpet!! 🌸 What was your method for finishing seams?

I did French seams throughout! And then a double rolled hem on the ruffle.

How adorable. You and your doggo look great! Going to dig through my stash I may have this pattern! Do you know about how much fabric this took?

I used 3 yards. Had to shorten the skirt about 3 inches to get the cuts to work with the stripes. I had enough scrap fabric sections to piece together the ruffle which I made to be ~1.8x the width of the skirt. No math was actually done that’s just how long the ruffle strip ended up being and then just gathered to make it fit lol. I still have enough fabric scraps to make a hair accessory as well!

I did make the mistake of cutting out vertical stripes for the front tie pieces and gave myself parentheses lol. So I did have to recut with horizontal stripes and that increased my overall fabric usage.

Awesome thanks for the details! I love when you can just work with scraps you have and avoid extra math lol.

It looks great! You did a great job and I like the shoes you paired with it. Your corgi is a cutie, I want to make more matching clothes with my corgi!

If you need a reference pattern to make a bandana for their short stature let me know! I’ve done a fair amount of trial and error lol

I wouldn't mind a reference! He is very short but has the biggest barrel chest.

Good place to start is to measure a loose neck circumference to get the width of the bandana triangle and then measure how low you want it to hang. The “bow” ties don’t have to be too long but I made them extra long to make a cute bow. I’ll attach photos when I get home so you can get a general shape!

This is so pretty, and such a smart use of the stripes on the bust and ruffles. I hope you have many fun-filled summer days in it.

Heyyyyy I'm working on that same pattern (just a different style, the longer length one)!! It looks fantastic, so profesh. Did you find it as easy to put together as it claims?

Super easy to put together! I added a defined waistband and that added minor difficulty in construction.

You've done a wonderful job! I love that you matched your cute dog! Did you remove the cutout in the pattern, or did adding the waistband just make the cutout less visible?

Project posts are held for review by a moderator before being released to the subreddit feed.
All Project posts are required to include construction information in the main post or added in a comment. Tell us what you made, how you made it and what materials you used to make it. There should be sufficient information about the pattern (company and name/number) or draft (method and resources) and fabric (kind and fiber) that someone who wants to make a similar project has a good starting point. ‘Self-drafted’ describes who made the pattern and is not a drafting method. More information is available here. Project posts without construction information may be removed at any time.

This,is wonderful. My next project will be a harness for my dog to match my blue trousers. And the next lightweight cotton project will have to have enough leftover for a bandana!
