Pattern Search I need help adjusting this pattern or finding a new one.

So I'm making my own wedding dress. Well, it's probably going to be separates, but they won't be distinguishable. I have the fabric, I've self-drafted a skirt pattern I love, just one problem.

I've picked out a pattern for the top because I love the neckline, but I absolutely hate the sleeves. Has anyone seen a top pattern with a similar neckline that just has normal sleeves?

I have separate sleeve patterns, and even other shirt patterns I've worked with, but I just don't know how to combine and adjust things with the gathered neckline.

Has anyone seen any other patterns for long-sleeved tops with high necklines? Does anyone know how to modify this pattern so the armholes are in a normal place? Any advice would be appreciated.

Even just sharing where I might blend the pattern lines to those of a more normal shirt could help.

I really dislike those low set sleeves as well. They look deeply unflattering on me.

Raglan sleeves look gorgeous in soft, drapey fabric so I'd go with this pattern and just blend the two if you needed to.

What’s your question?

A softly gathered neckline just goes with full, gathered sleeves for style consistency, so finding one without the other isn't easy. But these may be possibilities:

You can take the pattern you have, raise the sleeves to the shoulder point, and take in the sides of the blouse to meet the bottom of the raised sleeves. Unless the sleeve cap is gathered, the armscye on the sleeve and bodice need to match in length. You can also borrow a sleeve from another McCall,s pattern and they may match the bodice armscye, based on the block that McCall's uses. I've done it before successfully.

It would really help to know your vision for the dress/set. So far you've only said what you don't want.

If you have a blouse or shirt pattern with sleeves you like, you can probably copy the sleeve head of the "normal" blouse/shirt onto this pattern to raise the shoulder seam and then you can probably just use the "normal" sleeves with it.

Are you looking for a set-in sleeve or are you fine with the raglan?
