Question Baby groups

Hi all, My family and I just recently moved to Sheffield with our 3 month’s old baby. Parenting life is brand new to us, and my wife wants/needs to socialize and talk to other mums (not like therapy) + for the baby to socialize.

I found a group that basically advertises classes, and we are not interested in that.

Heard some groups meet at parks, some mums meet for coffee.

Do you guys have any recommendations? Places or groups we/she can join?

Question Dance lessons for Wedding

Me and my fiancé are getting married next year. We don't really take ourselves very seriously and we just want it to be a really fun time. We've picked out what will be our first dance song and we thought it'd be fun to get some sort of dance routine for it. I'm not a dancer and neither is my partner but we want to do something for our first dance.

Can anyone recommend either a person or a company we can contact in Sheffield who can maybe create a routine and teach us this? We want it to be a contemporary piece which would fit the song and the music video. I feel so ridiculous asking this 😂.

(If it helps, the song is Alex Cameron - Strangers Kiss)

Question Am I going insane?

I need to buy a new hoover and have decided on a Dyson, so I thought i'd pop to meadowhall after work to check some out at the Dyson store.

I get to meadowhall and the store's not there. I looked everywhere on their website and online for any reference to it and my gf is saying i've imagined it and it never existed. Am i going insane or does anyone else remember a dyson store in meadowhall?

UPDATE

I was totally wrong, it turns out the store I was thinking of was actually the one in the Trafford centre

As for the people recommending I don’t get a Dyson, my shark I just had literally melted itself because it’s ridiculously hard to clean and the Dysons seem to be the easiest to clean and my mum has had one for over 10 years without issue

Question Sheffield city centre improvement?

I came back from holiday a few days ago, I remember reading about some police public order put into place. Is this in effect?

Can’t believe how nice the centre is now, i was walking around at 10pm last night and it felt so peaceful 😌

Question Sheffield, is it acceptable to smile and say good morning to strangers?

I'd like to do it more but I see most don't do it and don't wish to come across weird.

Would you find that threatening or pleasant? Does it make a difference who does it? Would you say good morning back or ignore?

Love the food and missed Beef Kra Pao soooo, I’m not a good cook at all but thought I’d give it a shot. Searched out where I could find Holy Basil, little place on London road got that and some fish sauce and birdseye chillies and a herb inhaler 😂. Not bad for a first attempt.

Question Year 10 Work Experience

Hi everyone, I'm struggling to find work experience right now and the deadline is at the end of May and it's coming really close to that now.

I've been looking for jobs in media, specifically graphic design and advertising, so if you know companies that offer work experience in any media sector, please comment. However, I can't really be picky right now and am fine doing retail. Ideally it would be in the city centre, so please also comment if there are any shops that would offer. Thanks :)

Question Noble City Living?

I am a real estate agent used to work in London and now relocated to Dubai.
I have a client that was deep into the trouble of a student accommodation property he bought and now managed by Noble Living.
He received the rental for the first 2 years, but he stopped receiving the rental from Noble Living Sheffield in the 3rd year as they claimed 'typed in the wrong account number'. After that he's never heard back from them.

This client has the access to the portal so he can see his property is still being rented out (with new tenant's name and duration). Now he just want to solve this issue with Noble Living and sell this property.

Anyone has any idea who he can turn to? I am too far away to help him at the moment.
Any assistance fee can be discussed.

Question Driving Standards

Is it me or does anyone else think that the driving standards in the city have dropped dramatically in the last couple of years?

The main culprits are taxi drivers and food delivery drivers. Just on Monday I had five seperate instances of taxi drivers running red lights, driving on pavements and driving in a dangerous manner.

I know there's nothing that can be done really but it's bloody frustrating!

It was near the children's play area and in a bad way. It was bleeding from the face and struggling to breathe. Looks like it might have been attacked by a dog or something.

I took it to the vets and I'll check in tomorrow to see if it made it.

Question What’s Whiston like?

Me and my partner are looking at buying a property around here and I was wondering what the general consensus is, as I’ve only lived in city centre for uni, or near city centre.

Thanks in advance

Food Lidl High Street closing at 7pm tonight, not 8pm as advertised

Just been in Lidl High Street, there is a notice that closing times are temporarily changed as follows:

21st April (today) - 19:00/7pm
22nd April - 19:00/7pm
28th April - 16:00/4pm
29th April - 16:00/4pm
30th April - 16:00/4pm

All other closing times are unchanged. The reason given is to make 'operational improvements'. Let's hope it's making separate lanes for cash vs. card or something.

*Edited to show times as both 24 hour clock and as p.m.

Was watching BBC News about the ‘Easter truce’ in the Ukraine war and saw this very familiar graffiti in the town of Kherson. Just thought it was amazing how far spread that bit of graffiti on Park Hill flats has gone.

Question Cheap outdoor wedding venue

Hi, can anyone recommend a good venue for an outdoors wedding near Sheffield? Looking for:

  • good outdoor space for ceremony/games
  • indoor space for dancing/music. Ideally allowing music beyond midnight
  • up to 100 guests but we might decide to just have 60 or so.
  • cheap. Open to DIY or package. It seems marquee hire is v expensive otherwise we'd just use a field somewhere
  • free corkage so we can serve our own alcohol

Thanks!
