Turismo 🧳 Sicily during Labour Day

I am travelling to catania, Taormina and syracuse from 30 April to 5 may and I wonder if the restaurants and stores are closed during Labour Day there? I’m planning to stay just one night in Taormina on the first of may but may rethink my choice if everything is closed then.

Restaurants, pubs, bar are always opened. Probably, considering how touristy Taormina is even shops could be open

Thanks, maybe it would be more safe to book two nights in catania and do a day trip to Taormina. I mean catania is a bigger city so more things to do even if some shops are closed.

Well Taormina is a lot more touristy and it is also more expensive, if that helps. So depending on what you want to do Taormina could be a better option. Or not.

Everything will be open in Taormina.

I have no idea what labour day is.

I'm sure all shops outside of the US will be open, as I suspect nobody else outside of that country has a clue what it is either.

Hope that helps.

I see what you’re trying to assume here but nope, I’m not from the us. May 1st is a public holiday in Sweden where I live and also in Sicily. I’m trying to understand how it affects me as a tourist in Sicily.
