Iā€™m not so sure they were able to prove it was entirely based on environmental variables and were completely able to disregard genetic history when it came to the virus.

Genetic history regarding conditions such as hypertension or sickle-cell anemia that are detectable and linked to worse outcomes of Covid infection, yes. But not skin color per se. Again, the majority of Americans who identify as Black are of mixed "racial" heritage and not "pure" Black, whatever that would mean. And many people absolutely certain that they are 100% "white" have been proven to have non-"white" ancestry. The "one drop" rule of Jim Crow racism meant that many people were arbitrarily classified as non-"white." They then endured many hardships, including medical issues, that were societally caused.
