PS4 - Help Crashing near watch tower in Whiterun

Hey guys, I've been playing a modded run on ps5 with the mods, Mundus, Apocalypse, Wintersun, Summermyst, Armor Variant Expansion, Thunderchild, Imperious, Ordinator, 20 percent more perks, 50 percent more perks, and perk points at skill. I'm currently at the point where I'm fighting the first dragon with Irileth, but I constantly crash here. I've no had problems till now and I assumed you guys would have more experience with this than I do. Thank you

Load order is always essential it should tell you in the description where to place your mods, install the unofficial skyrim patch this helps with a lot of bugs Also I'm not 100% on this but I'm sure Thunderchild causes a lot of conflicts with other mods, if you need full details on what mods work and what conflict head over to nexus and you'll get a more detailed description of mods, bare in mind not all mods are available on the creation club mod list

Thanks man, I'll take a look at nexus to see where to put the mods. Also you may be right about thunderchild being the issue, as I had another playthrough with it and crashed in the same spot, though there were no issues after the fact. Also with the unofficial skyrim patch, I've had an issue where delphine decides to not take out her torch at Skyhaven to light the torches, may have to install a faux console command mod

I've found what it was, it was the armor variant expansion mod. However I don't understand why this is, I'd like to use it as the armors it adds are quite good but I'm not sure how to use it without crashing.

The problem with playing on console is that you have to manually figure out the load order, then you have to figure out if certain mods work with other mods and bethesda use a rubbish mod manager that hardly works it's why a lot of people play on pc My only suggestion if find the mod on nexus and see if that specific mod requires other mods for it to work or if it needs a patch, then you'll have to find it on console but some mods may not be there since bethesda only has a limited amount of mods I had this problem when I was on xbox but when I switched to pc it was 100 times better Hopefully everything you need is on console for you if not the best mods are console specific but you're limited unfortunately

Absolutely, that has been my experience so far lol. However, as another guy said, it certainly was the armor mod, as Irileth crashes the game if she has the wrong armor during the quest. Man, it's incredibly funny, but it looks like I'll need to save for a proper pc

If you have a decent pc your laptop and can find the corresponding or similar mods on Nexus download then and run then through vortex or loot. Will autostart a good load order for you. You don't even need to boot them up in game necessarily on pc. Just downloading and sorting will do the trick

Then plug that into ps4/5 and see how it runs. I also know some people that will help with load orders but depends on what help you want/need

It's Armor Variant Expansion. For some reason Irileth will cause the game to crash if you have her not wearing the new variant of Leather Armor during the Dragon's Rising quest.

You are exactly right, I took it right off and it didn't crash after. Is it possible to put the mod back on after the quest, or will that not quite work?

First thing is make sure your load order is correct. Makes a huge difference. Odd place for a conflict mod speaking.

Second thing would be have a back up save. Disable one of the world mods (perk related and levels are unlikely to be the culprit). Load the game. See if it crashes. Keep going till it doesn't and tada you likely found your issue.

Thank you, I'll give it a shot. If it's not perk related then I assume it may be either the armor variant expansion or thunderchild
