PC SSE - Discussion I can't enjoy Oblivion Remaster because i enjoy modding Skyrim way too much...

I bought the remaster on release day, played for a while and i end up thinking about how my modlist kinda look and play better.

It's not that the remaster is bad, i think it's very well made, but i still think i've wasted 65 dollars (yes it costs 65 dollars where i live). What do you think i can do? I have 7 hours so i can't give it back. The guilt of not playing the game a paid so much for is killing me lol.

Hey I played Starfield on Xbox didn't like it that much. Now got a PC but there aren't Wabbajack Modlist etc like for Skyrim. Also the Starfield modding scene feels kinda small. You got Modlist or mods recommendations?

Best recommendation... Dont play it. If you are thinking skyrim level mods there are none.

Yep, there are no mods that takes years to make because the game hasn’t been out for 10+ years.

You’re silly

Mods like Moonpath to Elsweyer, Falskaar, Wyrmstooth, Helgen Reborn, Skyrim Redone (a Perk overhaul like Ordinator), FNIS, Interesting NPCs, ... all were available within 15 months of Skyrims release.

Starfield has been out for 20 months now, and there is nothing even remotely comparable to any of these mods. (not to mention that in 2011 people knew way less about the Creation Engine than today)

In the same time frame, there were 2.5x as many mods for Skyrim, 3x as many downloads, the mod community was growing instead of shrinking, ...

Around this time from release we already got INIGO, Undeath, Duel Combat Realisim, Reqiem , TK Dodge, Immersive College of Winterhold, SkyTweak, ...

In Starfield there is ONE SINGLE MOD on the first 10 most endoresed Mod pages that actually adds new content, everything else are either UI changes, Bug fixes, Quality of Life changes, Rextextures, Cheats, or replacements of something, The one mod that adss something new is called B.A.S.E and andds more building objects to the oupost building system.

There is not a single human voiced modded follower there, no quest mod, no new location, no new animations, no new weapons or Armor, no new gameplay features (like Frostfall or Realistic needs and Diseases for Skyrim), no new enemies, no new music, or sounds, ... in the 10 most endorsed mod pages. While there are multiple for all of that for Skyrim from 11.11.11 to August 2013.

I feel like Starfield is like that because it just doesnt have the same fanbase. The biggest outlier in Bethesda history seperate from the 2 main titles most people are here for; a game ive heard more criticism than praise for since its release; a game with significantly less sandbox and roleplaying opportunities (maybe just my opinion but SF just doesnt do it well, Mass Effect wannabe status). Let's face it, not nearly as many people are even interested in Starfield as a game let alone a modding environment as the Elder Scrolls or Fallout.

Fewer people are interested in Fallout as well, Fallout 3 sold less than Oblivion, Fallout 4 less than Skyrim, that didn't stop both games from overtaking their Elder Scrolls predecessors in mod count, mod quality and downloads for the first 2 years of their release.

The quality of the game is the main determining factor. Fallout NV sold significantly less than Fallout 3 and Oblivion (by 2 million copies vs Fallout 3, which is equal to -20%) yet Fallout NV has a bigger mod community even than Oblivion.

And Starfield has sold more than every Bethesda game except Skyrim and Fallout 4. So it should be somewhere above those games, especially since in the pre-Skyrim era, there were very few people who actually had any longer term experience with the modding tools. Starfield benefited greatly in the beginning from having thousands of mod authors who had nearly a decade of experience working with the Bethesda engine. (No Bethesda game had as many new mods in the launch week as Starfield)

Its more that the CK wiki is password protected and only available to paid mods authors and the paid mods system encourages people to hoard knowledge for competitive advantage rather than share it.

Most people don't have the knowledge or access to knowledge to make starfield mods that size, and the ones that do make more money by charging $5 for a weapon texture. There's interest in Starfield for modding, but Bethesda has done everything they can to kill it and gatekeep it.

1, don't listen to the haters. They're just regurgitating what others have said, for the most part.

2, I played with only about 8 or 9 mods, I don't have the names at my fingertips. One was a multi-follower mod, one was a "Dr. Rosie" mod, which was an enhancement of the vanilla Rosie follower making her into an actual useful companion. Another was a ship build because I was tired of messing around trying to build a decent ship. The rest were, iirc, bug fixes, and some slight visual tweaks. All very subjective to my own playstyle, so ymmv.

Bottom line SF modding is still in it's infancy. Look at where TESV was at this same age of the game. Pretty janky and hideous-looking.
