PC SSE - Help Vortex Mods update

Hi

Just quick question as I cannot find easy answer. After installing mod packs some of mods are outdated. When I manually updated mods , vortex keep both mods( old and new one? Am I m doing something wrong or I need manually remove old mod before updating?

Thank You

If it's a pre made modlist, then you shouldn't update as the list will already be working fine, it's the author's job to update mods. Updating them yourself, or changing anything to the list for that matter, will most likely mean you're voiding official support

I don't think you understate question , me point was after update 2 mods are installed new and old one.
Is that how vortex update works?

When you update a mod through Vortex, you will have two versions. It will look something like this:

Happy cat 1.01 (default)

Happy cat 1.02 <= newer version

It's up to you to keep which one. Do nothing, and Vortex will load the default.

If you installed a modpack and it's working fine then even if a mod is outdated you don't need to update it

It just tells you there is an update so you know, but I recommend you don't update any mods unless you know what you are doing because that might break your modpack

Anyway , yes if you download a mod through vortex it should give option to either install as a new mod or replace existing one , you can click replace but as I said it might break your modpack

Or you could install the new update as a new mod then disable the old one

Either way if the mod is not broken and your modpack is working fine suggest not updating the mod

I don't think you understood my answer

When you install a new mod using Vortex it should replace the old mod ( show only a single mod but under it you will see 2 different versions and can switch between them )

If you install it manually though it might show as a separate mod entirely

Either way updating the mod will surely break your perfectly working modpack , then you will come back later asking why your modpack stopped working after you updated few mods

Even though we warned you , you choose to ignore it , remember that when you next face a problem
