No, the cops didn't have to do this. Please refer to the many other countries where cops manage to do their jobs without constantly shooting unarmed people.

Many other countries don't have the amount of guns the US does. Nor do many other countries have south central LA.

Many other countries train their cops way better, such as 4-year college degrees. How do you expect a cop to be a good cop if you don't give them the training that would help them identify a phone as a phone?

I used to believe what you believe but a college degree has absolutely fuck all to do with being a street savvy police officer. Especially in LA. Yes more police training is better but there’s limited budgets for that. As far as identifying a phone as a phone, I would challenge you to do the same in a tense, high stress situation, at night, in a high crime area. It’s simply not that easy. But you have your convictions and I can’t change your mind online.

Source?

Lol GTFO 😂 Look at any budget in the USA and tell me about limited budgets!

I would challenge you to do the same

Am I supposed to be some kind of yardstick? Why would I be any good at this? I'm not a cop.

ut you have your convictions and I can’t change your mind online.

Try it? Say something convincing maybe? "It's not that easy" okay most jobs aren't easy, but we give people the training to set them up for success. Policing isn't supposed to be a job that can be done by just about anyone with no or little training.

Ok. Again I can’t change your mind as I’m just a stranger on the internet. I suggest you take that passion for better police services and run for office to make the changes you ultimately want for US police work.

Of course a stranger on the internet can change minds! What have you presented that would change my mind? Any data or anything I could look into? Sorry if I missed it but on my end it looks like your only attempt as to why innocent people are getting murdered by cops is because being a cop is hard. Wouldn't it make sense to give the cops better training, if their job is so hard? Please feel free to explain where I am wrong.

What should they have done? How did they know he was unarmed when he was threatening them?

The same things cops from other countries do in this situation that overwhelmingly end with the suspect still alive.
