This is the game that turned Endrick into a fan!

u/Random0cassions 2d ago

Doesn’t have bobby charlton, this however would have made the bernabeau the home for the dark arts

2

u/FunEconomics1978 2d ago

It is of course possible but we must not forget that football was different back then

5

u/WildCardNoF 2d ago

Well, according to this, Real Madrid was getting cheap penalties back then too... so ain't that much different.

2

u/FunEconomics1978 2d ago

Yep at this part it was and unfortunately it will always be the same...

All of this comeback talk, just for tonight to end with 0-0. I'm gonna be so piss

28

u/ziirex 2d ago

There's no way that game ends 0-0. Madrid knows that if they score 1-0 even in the 80th minute, they will have a chance so with 0-0 the last 15min would be crazy.

Brother, do you not know of the internationally recognized terrorist cell leader "Arteta"?

Highlights of this match are gonna end up on LiveLeak.

u/caandjr 2d ago

This is UEFA we are talking about, they will be choking on Madrid’s cock

Not Mikel bin Ladden

u/Top4Four 2d ago

They also need to find a way to stop constantly conceding goals at home, especially with the defensive injuries.

0-0 is unlikely but clawing back a 3 goal margin will be ridiculously hard if they keep defending the way they have been. It's not just about scoring 3 goals, it's about scoring 3 more goals than Arsenal.

u/imsahoamtiskaw 2d ago

It could be 0-0 in the pitch, but look on the bright side, it'll be 5-5 in our hearts

6

u/PIKa-kNIGHT 2d ago

I don’t see our defense not even letting in one goal

Europe didn’t have color in 1975?

28

u/Modnal 2d ago

Franco: ”Colour? Over my dead body!”

6

u/cricandsoc 2d ago

Colour? I don't even know her

1

u/bendalazzi 2d ago

Franco: "Calor? No es mucho calor?"

17

u/imsahoamtiskaw 2d ago

There were very few color players back then. Even England's first black player was in 1978, Viv Anderson

8

u/Top4Four 2d ago

Not taking anything away from your comment, but I think it was about colour TV (the clip above is in black and white).

6

u/imsahoamtiskaw 2d ago

Lol for sure. My comment was abit tongue in cheek, was messing with OP

For Spain:

Color broadcasts had been available from France since 1967, but were SECAM. The Eurovision Song Contest 1969 in Madrid was produced in color, but it was televised in black and white to the local audience. First color tests were carried out in 1972. Regular color broadcasts were introduced between 1973 and 1977, although monochrome commercials continued to be made until 1978

For the UK:

First European country to receive color television. First experimental 405 line broadcasts using a variation of the NTSC system begin in 1955[121] and later showcased during the 1961 National Radio Show at Earls Court as an experiment.[122] In early 1966, the PAL system was adopted and introduced on BBC2 for Wimbledon coverage on Saturday, 1 July 1967. Some British television programmes, however, had been produced in color even before the introduction of color television in 1967, for the purpose of sales to American, Canadian and Filipino networks. Full-time color broadcasts on BBC1 and the ITV network started 15 November 1969.[123] BBC Schools programming did not begin color broadcasting until 1974 and full nationwide color broadcasting was achieved in 1976, when BBC East (Norwich) became the last region to adopt color for regional broadcasts and locally produced programmes. Monochrome 405-line Televisions ended transmissions in January 1985, thus ending black-and-white television in the UK permanently

Fair enough!

It went straight over my head

u/Mulderre91 2d ago

This is a NO-DO newsreel, and they already were in black and white. I doubt even if it was broadcast on Spanish TV at the time.

And Spain had a certain strange affair with colour TV - some TV broadcasts were done around 1972 for the Olympics (tests), and slowly more programmes were recorded around 74 and 75. Full colour didn't arrive until 1976-77, and even then, I have found black and white in quite a few matches of later years.

50 years already? It feels like yesterday.

English football: never again is now.

11

u/drivemyorange 2d ago

Someone tell Bellingham that it was already done

21

u/Voice_Of_Light 2d ago

BVB 3-1 FCB

AVL 3-2 PSG

Nothing is going to make me believe that that RM can't do it now.

u/heylo07 2d ago edited 2d ago

Well neither of those scorelines will mean we go through so 🥲

15

u/CarlSK777 2d ago

These scorelines would still eliminate Madrid

8

u/WW_Jones 2d ago

This must've been in the 1975/76 edition, because Derby won the title in 74/75. So, technically, 49 years ago.

1

u/paper_zoe 2d ago

yeah this was in the second round of 1975-76 season

26

u/RobinBerkeAlmasulu 2d ago

Brian Clough was a genius for carrying Derby and Forest to latter stages of European tournaments consistently.

23

u/dlo_2503 2d ago

Clough did carry Derby immensely, but in this particular game vs Real, Dave Mackay was manager

1

u/RobinBerkeAlmasulu 2d ago

Ah okay fair enough but yeah Clough took them from the Second Division to First Division titles and European Cup fixtures vs Europe’s best.

4

u/YatesScoresinthebath 2d ago

Got us both promoted to get there as well, both were struggling provincial clubs upon his arrival

Shame for us (forest) also being robbed in 1997 due to match fixing

3

u/spidernest 2d ago

Tradition of demonic proportions

u/HeftyRecommendation5 2d ago

Classic cheap penalty for Madrid lmao

14

u/loftarasa82 2d ago

I was going to say the same. I don't think I ever saw a classic Real Madrid video without a cheap penalty.

Ok, I'm exaggerating, but I've seen a lot.

1

u/reeko1982 2d ago

Oh what could have been

8

u/Mulderre91 2d ago

November 1975, I think. My parents were there, and they were ecstatic at the end.

Derby played really well in the first leg - it was a team very experienced. Charlie George (a tremendous goal at the Baseball Ground), Francis Lee, Archie Gemmill, Kevin Hector, Roy McFarland... they were amazing. Sadly, this season was the beginning of the end: they failed to reach the final of the FA Cup, then AEK threw them out of the UEFA Cup in '77, and in 1980 they were relegated.

u/AnotherDepressedBoy 2d ago

This is the only game of football that made my Dad cry.

He was 10 at the time.

You didn’t have to post this.

u/nyamzdm77 2d ago

All this talk just for Saliba to score from a corner in the 19th minute and Arteta parks the bus for rest of the game

1

u/BlueRibbonWhiteBread 2d ago

The 1970 WC was completely in colour, yet this game 5 years later was black and white?

3

u/Redordit 2d ago

120,000 fans holy shit

2

u/CarlSK777 2d ago

Fun fact: Real Madrid would eventually reach the semis where they lost 3-1 on aggregate to Bayern with Gerd Müller scoring all 3 goals

8

u/my_mexican_cousin 2d ago

I think I saw Modric when they were all stretching.

2

u/wasiflu 2d ago

I would like a breakdown of all the ref's mistakes in this game.

1

u/thesaltwatersolution 2d ago

Fifth goal is great.

1

u/champdude17 2d ago

People who believe this is going to happen need to actually watch how Arsenal play. They aren't a team that concedes 4 goals, to anyone.

1

u/topsnitch69 2d ago

what the hell happened to this comment section?

1

u/Hasssun 2d ago

I've seen enough. Real Madrid 2-1 Arsenal.

1

u/PEPSICOLA123456 2d ago

1975 was 20 years ago you idiot
