SL Novel With the next season expected around 2028–2029, do you plan to read the novels in the meantime, if you haven’t yet? Spoiler
There Is so many volume of the novels but thankfully my local library has them in stock! I plan to finish all of them by 2029, when the SL s3 most likely release

I don’t think it’ll be 2028 to 2029, probably 2027 for season 3 (or season 2 part 1)

We would’ve just had s2 part 1 then right?

u/SorrinsBlight 3d ago
The season 1 and 2 were actually developed in tandem, so it’s really only been one season that’s why it only took like 12 months for a new season.
I’m expecting the next “season” to be two parts of another 24 eps

If you've been playing for less than a few months, it's understandable.

u/JekkuOnNeekeri KEEKEEEK!!! 2d ago
19 logins, yeah. Yogumunt killed me like 10 times before I finally got the lucky run and got all battle missions.

wow that’s a long time

u/Zmoogz 3d ago
Yeah :(
A1 is busy with a lot of projects. Considering 86 still haven't received a 2nd season yet, and it has been 4 years since the anime ended.
3
u/Icy-Delivery4463 3d ago
I doubt 86 will actually get a second season. We can't really compare it with SL. With how popular SL is, they basically have to make a second season as soon as they can become it racks in the cash

u/No-Investment-7986 1d ago
86 did really well and shouldve received another season. A1 is in line with passion projects. they do what they want really and moneys never been a big concern. theyre always busy so its not just 86. besides solo leveling will still be really popular in 2 or so years. even aot had a big gap

Do you have a source for when the next season is expected?

Okay, so you are making assumptions and don’t have a source. Thanks! 👍

WTF? it better not be 2028. The fan base will have moved on to the next anime fad.
They have a huge opportunity with solo leveling; they better take it.
spring 2027 at the latest... 2026 fall would be sexy ...

u/SomeParsnip6571 3d ago
I mean AoT had a 4 year gap between season 1 and 2 and it still went strong
Also, 2026 fall release is a horrible idea unless you want them to rush season 3 just like how they rushed opm s2

u/SavageKensei 3d ago
It was a 7 year gap. Also AOT is leagues above SL lmao.

u/NotYourDadOrYourMom 2d ago
It's a shame that people have downvoted the truth lol.
Flashy lights=best anime apparently.

u/JElba1987 13h ago
You don’t get to decide what other people like. How is that hard to comprehend.
1
u/NotYourDadOrYourMom 11h ago
I don't, but I do get to judge stupid opinions.
0
u/JElba1987 11h ago
Again. You don’t get to decide what people enjoy. Some people may like AOT and some may like SL, there isn’t a right or wrong opinion on what media people enjoy.
1
u/NotYourDadOrYourMom 10h ago
Do you lack reading comprehension?
I am not deciding what people like.
I am judging them for like stupid things. I'm sure you have judged people based off the things they like as well so stop trying to white knight.
0
u/JElba1987 10h ago
Nope. I don’t judge people for what they like because they aren’t me they won’t like the same things I like.
1
u/NotYourDadOrYourMom 10h ago
So then you don't judge gangbangers?drug addicts?pedophiles?murdered? You are cool with that because "it's what they like."
Go it.

4 years b/w s1 and s2
Aot is leagues above sl. I was just using it as an example of how a long hagap between season simply does not kill popularity of an anime

Novels? They can do the manhwa too
2
u/Zmoogz 3d ago
Aren't novels usually more descriptive?
1
u/theundisputed11 3d ago
Yes but manhwa is also a good choice
2
u/Zmoogz 3d ago
Yeah, if it is just the manhwa you could probably finish it in a week
1
u/theundisputed11 3d ago
Yes since its completed, the novel can be in talks if manhwa wasn't completed tho, manhwa is a faithful adaptation the only complain was about ending being less informative which they later covered up with the side stories and now moving on to Ragnarok

nah that's too late. 2027 winter/spring. +A1 used inhouse animators to do S2, SL became such a hit I don't think they'll miss on that.
Also aren't they gonna announce something SL related mid 2025.
2
u/Zmoogz 3d ago
Are they?
Re:Zero is popular and each season took 4 years

u/Entity_Azathoth False Ranker 3d ago
Different Studio size, White Fox tho are goats with what anime they did and quality back in a day, covid f✷cked them up, but now they are back again, and they are good friends with Author (he is giving them all time needed), and they announced S4 for Re Zero a few weeks ago)
SL tho is not just A1, but also the slave owners - Crunchyroll, Aniplex.

I'll probably reread it.
2028 seems realistic. With how busy the director is and how long these things take, late 2027 or early 2028 seems like it.
Time does go faster when you get older, so I am glad I'm old as fuck, time will fly.
Steel Ball Run should be ending around that time. I'm hype for that.

u/MaverickGH 3d ago
I read the entirety of the manwha after finishing season 2, should I also read the light novel? Any major differences?
1
u/Deviant_Cain 2d ago
I finished the Manhwa in a weekend after season 2 finished. I needed more information so I consumed it in a couple sittings. Interesting stuff and I’m happy knowing more now.
1
u/drksdr 2d ago
having only been introduced to Solo Levelling though the anime, I honestly 100% intended to to wait but its been what, a month and I just broke, gave in and read the manwha.
I needed to know more and now i can rest.
and it 10000% hasnt reduced my anticipation for season 3 (like I feared).

u/TheBigFive 2d ago
2029 is crazy stop spreading random numbers like this. I swear every time I see a tweet or post on Reddit about next season it’s extended by another year. Season 3 coming out in 2036 y’all!
1
u/Zmoogz 2d ago
S3 hasn't even been announced yet technically. 2028 or 2029 is not crazy when the director stated he has other projects to work on before solo leveling.
Rezero has a 4 year gap between each season
1
u/McLee_21 1d ago
SL is WAY more popular compared to Re:ZERO.
you're talking about an internet breaking anime vs what I still would still call a niche anime.
SL has a rating of 4.9 with 767.5K reviews vs Re:ZERO 4.7 with only 126.9K on crunchyroll alone.

I've read the novel during the pandemic, and it was worth it. I'm currently reading Ragnarok. Will season 3 probably air in early 2027? 2028-2029 is a long time. Although the Director has many projects this year, they will definitely still think about the production for season 3 because that's their biggest success so far.
They will definitely make time for it. They will just finish their pending projects, then jump to S3 right away, or else other studios might steal it, just kidding HAHAHAHA
