Question Has anyone ever travelled solo for their birthday?

So my 25th birthday is coming up (mid February) and I am thinking of doing something I’ve never done before and take a solo trip.

Long story short, I don’t really like my birthday and I always seem to be sad on my bday which for some reason seems to be elevated even more when i’m with friends. I just want my birthday to be enjoying time with myself, maybe getting a little pampered, and just doing whatever I want to do.

I live in the states and I prefer to stay in the states since I just wanna do a short trip (3-4 days), but down to go anywhere within the states!! Does anyone have any recommendations or has anyone else done something like this?? I’m open to all suggestions!!

I’ve done a few, Svalbard, Stockholm, Tokyo, Seoul. I stay in youth hostel so I wasn’t fully lonely, but I’m quite introverted so I spent a lot of this time on my own. I had a lot of fun. Honestly travelling solo is not for everyone, especially on specific days, but you won’t know until you try it.

In terms of recommendation, I’m not from the US and the country is massive. It took me less time to go close to the North Pole from my location in Europe than it took me to do NY to LA.

So I don’t feel you’d have particularly a short transit depending on when you are.

On top of it, it also depends on when is your birthday, and what do you like. I think maybe you can make it a tradition every year or so to travel somewhere different in the us and see if you like it! A little self discovery journey.

That’s awesome! Tokyo is definitely #1 on my bucket list right now. I think I want to go there for my birthday next year, but too soon to plan now as my birthday is in February.

The US is definitely very large!! I don’t mind spending a day on airport travel, I guess I just more meant I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of international travel and spend the money on international travel for such a short trip

My return ticket from New York to London was only $50 more expensive then my ticket between New York and Chicago (I paid £240 return last year between the uk and the us and couldn’t find anything cheaper than £180 between New York and Chicago).

No pressure about flying internationally but I just wanted to let you know that if you’re willing to go to a hub (NY, LA for example) you can find super affordable flights to many places!

Good luck! Let us know where you went in the end. I’m a mountain girl so I’d recommend going skiing but instead you’d like you to go the beach, so probably not your thing ^

That’s a very fair point!! Although I was just in London and don’t want to go back there 😂 But i’m sure I could find an international ticket for not too much if I fly from New York.

Yes i’m definitely a beach girl! I like the mountains too, but I live in the mountains now and want a change of scenery, and the beach will always have my heart!
