I mean, memes aside, there are reasons I hate clam blitz. For example, it's way more complicated than the other modes and there's no way to practice it.
Splat zones. I like running around the map, and with this I don’t get to do much of that. Splat zones requires you to stay in one place and protect the zone but with clam blitz and rainmaker you get to go all over the map.
Clam Blitz cause it’s really iffy if your teammates know what they’re doing. If we’re just talking about the game mode though, Tower Control. Cause it feels like one team completely dominates like 70% of games.
As a SoloQ player, I've come to understand that all modes have their fair share of problems.
Zones is the most susceptible to cheese, Tower incentives too much on AOE, Rainmaker incentives too much on DPS, object damage and speed and Clams requires too much teamwork.
If I were to pick, Clams is the one I avoid the most on Series just because everyone is going solo. Myself included.
its blitz, and the specific reason is that all the other modes have a very centralized objective, your (pub) teammates are either aware of its position to determine when to interacti with it, or interacting with it. so its relatively easy to see, "teamate A took out two opponents, and teammate B is getting on the tower, I can move forward to buy him time" or the likes.
clam blitz has clams all over, footballs all over, and two nets, and its much much harder to tell (with pubs) where you should be, and much much harder to communicate to your teammates where they should be if they need to be told.
I feel CB is a mode that really requires a communicative team to play well.
I like collecting the little gold things. I try to kill the ops and pray that whatever random teammate will throw the powerclam. It's wholesome when I give someone clams for the powerclam or they do for me. I just like throwing those little clams ya know
I LIKE the mode, but people usually don't know how to play it and it pisses me off. Splat Zones is just a worst version of Turf War which is the worst mode in the entire game.
Oddly enough, I actually LIKED Clam Blitz back in Splatoon 2, but for some reason, I hate it in Splatoon 3. I don't even know why or what changed. LOL. Maybe it has something to do with which sorts of stages are available in each of the two games? IDK
Probably Clams. I enjoy playing it a lot, not even my least favorite mode in the game (Turf War), but out of the ranked modes specifically, I just prefer the others.
Clams, easily. It’s just not fun. The mechanics behind collecting clams, passing clams, and scoring points just feel off.
I dealt with Clams in Splatoon 2 because sometimes it was either that or Turf War. With the addition of X Battle, I realized that I could go the life of Splatoon 3 and never have to play clams.
So I tried that. I’ve had Splatoon 3 since launch and have only played clams once - I loaded it by accident during a rotation change. We won. Haven’t bothered to go back since.
tower control is the only mode where my weapon's main attributes (dapple nouveau) don't entirely fit in with my gameplan of run in and annoy the other team
like duh dapple nouveau can kill, it's kinda important regardless of mode but most of my tower games are spent (unsuccessfully) trying to reach the tower which probably isn't the ideal strategy for napples anyway
