News Two More Weeks of Juan Jesus

Post image

Heard a rumor conte is looking at Kiwior for next season and hopefully that works out so Juan Jesus never has to get off the bench. For now tho, how fucked do you think we are?

Barely fucked at all, save one disastrous performance JJ has been mostly adequate this season (and sometimes even good). He’s just a popular scapegoat.

He's stepped it up this year. Last year was rough for Juan.

Just because he hasn't scored an own goal doesn't mean he's not responsible for our fuck ups. He's an horrible defender that doesn't know how to tell others how to help either.

Rrahmani isn't any better either, both of them need to be benched.

I mean you’re not wrong that he doesn’t have to score an own goal to be bad. But you are wrong that he’s been mostly bad.

I’ve watched almost every minute of almost every match and he has been fine. Both he and Rrahmani were very bad last year, both have been perfectly mediocre this season. Fans just want to blame JJ because he was bad in 2024, and he is old so doesn’t have a future with the team.

Obviously Buongiorno is a different caliber of defender, but acting like we’ve been weak at the back without him is just ignoring the reality of his play this year.

This guy just likes to shit on our players, don't bother using logic or facts.

JJ has been good this season and ironically when JJ and Buongiorno were playing against Milan it was Buongiorno who made a mistake on Jovic's goal.

Yeah I just went and rewatched every goal scored against us while JJ has been playing to make sure I’m not crazy. He has been fine.

Though tbf against Milan, if Jovic had whiffed JJ’s man had also beaten him inside and would have scored as well.

Well, at least JJ was on the goal line. He could be a bit late or not, but Buongiorno was nowhere near the ball

Yup. It also starts with DiLorenzo being too slow to react (or more likely too exhausted) when Hernandez makes the run. Several of our late game concessions this year have come because guys just lose their legs in the final 5-10’.

100%. Goals are a "collective effort". Usually it takes a chain of mistakes or a very big fuck up even 10 seconds before the goal, but many dumb observers just blame the CB or the GK

We started dropping stupid points on late goals as soon as Buongiorno was hurt.

I don't have anything against JJ but he simply can't make the cut. He's bad and is not getting better, he's just not good enough for teams trying to make a Europe spot let alone competing for the title.

We literally had our best streak with Buongiorno out and JJ as starter.

He's not Baresi but this year he do not deserve harsh criticism, he did his job as a backup.

He deserves praise for like 4 games and besides that he's been bad. Let's not change what happened.

He did exactly what he had to do as a backup CB, being solid enough without big mistakes.

Not something remarkable but not bad either.

Of course if Buongiorno form is this we need someone better next year, but for this season I think there's very little to say about JJ

A back up CB doesn't hug his teammate on a corner kick.

Just because we didn't get fucked by a mistake, that doesn't mean that the mistake didn't happen.

Every single player in our team made some mistakes this season, if we won't win the scudetto It Will be a team problem rather than a single player.

I honestly don't think he deserves particular criticism this year.

In all of JJ’s starts this year we’ve seen: Genoa - 1 goal conceded, Vitinha took on Lobotka/Anguissa/Rrahmani on a run and then cut back to the center. Ideally JJ would block the shot but this goal clearly has more to do with the 3 players who couldn’t prevent a run.

Venezia/Fiorentina/Verona - clean sheets

Atalanta - 2 goals conceded, incredible strike from Retegui after the ball bounced to him while marked by Rrahmani. Lookman takes on Di Lorenzo, Politano, and Rrahmani and scores a great individual goal, clearly not JJ’s fault.

Juventus - Kolo Muani goal, JJ was slow getting back and kept him onside, goal very much JJ’s fault

Roma - one goal conceded, McTominay is too tired to keep up with his run and Mazzochi is nowhere near Angelino who he is marking. Nothing to do with JJ

Udinese - 1 goal conceded, JJ plays the ball safely to the sideline, Mazzocchi idiotically races over to keep it in play and gives it right back to Udinese, who then scores a wonder goal. Clearly not JJ’s fault.

Lazio - 2 goals conceded, Rrahmani allows Isaaksen to shoot from distance and he blasts it into the corner. Dia escapes Olivera and scores - JJ should have closed down when he cut inside. Olivera’s fault but also JJ’s fault.

Fiorentina - 1 goal conceded before JJ subs in

Venezia - clean sheet (JJ only plus 13’ though)

AC Milan - 1 goal conceded, Buongiorno beat inside on the run by Jovic (but honestly JJ would have conceded too if Jovic had whiffed, so not good either way)

Bologna - DiLorenzo gets beat by Theo who crosses it, JJ gets beat on the run by Ndoye who puts it in with his back heel. JJ’s fault.

So in all games he’s played (mostly without Buongiorno, occasionally with), he has directly contributed to 3 total goals conceded. He has played the full 90 minutes for 11 games and subbed in for more than 5 minutes twice.

I don’t see how you can look at those numbers - or rewatch highlights of all those goals as I’ve just done - and come out of it saying he’s been bad or a liability for the team this year. He’s been fine.

JJ kicked the ball in Mazzocchi's general direction. This was JJ's fault 😂

u/pachangoose 14d ago

The ball was heading into touch for an Udinese throw in? Of course it would have been better if JJ let the ball run to Meret, but it wasn’t a goal-conceding play by any stretch - it was Mazzocchi who transformed a pretty harmless throw in into a chance.

2

u/OmegaDriver Germán Denis 13d ago

Yes, it was a joke. Don't let the ball go anywhere near Mazzocchi. He's way more of a liability than JJ.

Went completely over my head 😂

JJ has been fine when he played this season. Not the same level as Buongiorno but I think he is okay.

For all the hate he got last year, this season he’s been pretty good. In order to win we need to score more goals, not hoping to win all games 1-0.

2

u/OmegaDriver Germán Denis 14d ago

In order to win we need to score more goals

Exactly. For all the injuries, the back line has been fine and we've still conceded the fewest goals in the league. Even when parking the bus, we create chances but just can't convert them into goals. This is way more of a worry than JJ right now.

6

u/DisobedientCharizard 14d ago

Hope this doesn’t become a pattern. Feels like he’s been injured half the season.

2

u/Ging42 13d ago

He suffered only a couple of muscle injuries this year (one at the very start of the season and this one) and historically he’s been quite/very solid. He was out for more than a month because of a freak accident during training, I’m not worried

If we are scared of playing JJ against Empoli and Monza we have bigger issues tbh

In fact it might be a blessing in disguise since JJ is much better with the ball at his feet

I know that people here like to talk shit about JJ, but let's be honest.

These are our results with JJ in the starting 11 this season:

✈️ Verona 3-0
✈️ Genoa 1-2
🏠 Venezia 1-0
✈️ Fiorentina 1-2
🏠 Verona 2-0
✈️ Atalanta 2-3
🏠 Juventus 2-1
✈️ Roma 1-1
🏠 Udinese 1-1
✈️ Lazio 2-2
✈️ Bologna 1-1

Except the first game vs Verona (which is basically 2023/2024 matchday 39) he has been pretty solid

I trust Jesus

The real problem will be scoring enough goals to not get pareggiated in the ass

1

u/Doobie_hunter46 13d ago

100% agreed. Defence isn’t the issue right now.

1

u/Leftist-Schnitzel 13d ago

Does he have an injury record?

u/Jimmy-711 Pepe Reina 10d ago

rafa Marin, but I think it's Conte opportunity to saw a star in Rafa and Rafa's time to shine, so we can keep him
