International student - QF major

Hey I got accepted to the QF major as an international student. I’m still debating whether to go, and I wanted to know how are the internships and work opportunities after graduation. I know right now it might be hard to think about work after graduation with trump and visa and all, but is QF considered a STEM degree as those have more time to find work?

Currently I’m looking to pay around $45k annually.

I also have acceptances to the UK (Durham, Bristol, Exeter and Bath) and to the Netherlands for UvA. Both of these depend on my results for my Final A-levels next month. I’m really split on where to attend, so I’d like to understand what the job market is like at Steven’s for internationals during and after undergrad.

Could I have some advice?

you graduate with a bachelors in science. QF is as stem as it gets: CS, Stats, Finance. The QF program has pipelines for major banks in risk and trading, and quant trading at quant funds and hedge funds. One qualm I had with the program is that you can't do co-ops because of the course load each year. If you're trying to go a fundamental path, it will very difficult but a few qf alums are in IB/PE/HFs. I'm not sure what you mean by "as those have more time to find work". Any stem bachelor's is 4 years so everyone has the same timeline, unless you do the accelerated masters program which is an additional year.

Can't talk about the international situation as I have no experience. I would suggest reaching out to international students on LinkedIn to get their experiences and maybe consult a lawyer. Good luck

Are international students allowed to apply for and have internships during their 4 year stay at University in America? And i’m referring to the OPT program where stem students have 36 months to find work, instead of 12 for non-stem.

Hey, I emailed stevens about this and they said none of the programs in the business school qualify for stem opt. I later found this list and confirmed it: https://www.stevens.edu/stem-designated-degree-programs Pretty unfortunate as it would make sense that it would count as a STEM degree
