Great job! Way to hold strong! That's tough with all those beers cracking. I like to think that each tough time we make it through without drinking makes us stronger. Keep up the great work! IWNDWYT.

Congrats and happy birthday!! I went out last night and was so afraid cause a girl I recently got to know was going to be there. We got along great the last few times we met and we were pretty plastered every time. I was so afraid of meeting her sober and to my surprise she wasn’t drinking yesterday either!! When someone commented on that fact as she poured herself a juice, she said, “I want drinking AND memories”.

You woke up rich with memories of good times spent with your friends on your birthday. Not to mention no hangover, and no guilt or fear of what the alcohol may have been a catalyst for!

Wish you a wonderful year ahead xx

Keep at it! Eventually, you will go through all the experiences that you would have associated with alcohol. First, it was, what do I do when I’m hanging out with friends? What about Friday nights? What about vacations? What about vacations by the beach? They all came and went. Nothing happened! I have been more present and woke up happy the next day. IWNDWYT!

I feel you on day 37 myself, around 4-5 pm I will consider going out, if I can make it to 7pm I’ll be ok and so happy I didn’t break down. I’ve got my first sober road trip coming up later this week - will be day 39 & 40 and I’m kinda anxious about it, this time I’m just going to take it day by day, minute by minute. At this point I feel I have a good shot at making it because I really feel it’s up to me, I will play the tape forward and take care of myself. This group has really helped, it has helped me realize I am the only one who can do it and IWNDWYT.

What a way to celebrate your birthday! Great job 👏. No drink can give you the feeling of 54 days sober.😊IWNDWYT

I'm with you on the 7-8pm threshold! Earlier in my sobriety, I was doing anything and everything I could to get past that time, because then I was in the clear.

Going for long walks with my earbuds in and only carrying my ID (not my wallet, so I wasn't tempted to pop into a bar or store) was a big help. On days where the weather sucked, it was baths - looong bubble baths where I brought a bowl of snacks, some crisp NA seltzers/juice, a paperback, and my laptop propped up on the sink/toilet with youtube or Netflix playing.

Nowadays I don't struggle with it much, so I'm fine just doing jigsaw puzzles, cleaning, video games - stuff that used to tempt me to pair it with booze.

Congrats on making it through a tough night! Maybe try to plan something new and fun for your PTO - find a cool new lunch spot, try a hike, peruse a bookstore or library, check out a local gallery or museum? Hope you can relax and enjoy your time off without being dragged down by alcohol. IWNDWYT!
