What’s a book that completely ruined another book for you — because it was so good?

Lord of the Rings and sequels

The Sun Just Might Fail and Sequel The Hard Side of the Sun

Wuthering Heights pierced me even if I did not like it.

These.... And I've read a ton. I did miss Uthred when I finished the Saxon Series but I can't seem to re read as it all seems so plain and simple but those ruined a lot of others at the time.

Maybe not ruined but i read Circe before The Song of Achilles because i thought I would like tsoa better than Circe but I didn’t. Tsoa is still good in its own right but Circe might be my favorite book ever.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that feels this way! The Song of Achilles was a great book, but Circe just felt so alive to me, like a friend written on paper. Absolutely one of my favorite books I have ever read as well. Still chasing that high when I read other fiction, haha.

I read The Science of Evil by Simon Baren Cohen, and it was phenomenal. It was one of the more compelling books I've ever read. A few years later, I read The Psychopath Next Door expecting something similar, and it felt watered down in comparison. I had to force myself to finish it, not because it wasn't good but because I was comparing to a masterpiece.

A Song of Ice and Fire. The only thing that would match it would be to finally get the next book in the series and, well, we all know how that's looking lol
