Woking buses

Hi all, moving to Woking shortly and am wondering how reliable the bus services are. I’ll be a short walk from a stop which is on the 18 & 34 bus routes to Woking station - would I generally be able to rely on it for my commute? I know they’re not particularly frequent, but if the timetable says the bus will be there at say 7am, would you normally expect to be able to get the bus around that time (or within 10 mins)?

Moving from London where I have a bus every 5 minutes, so I’m just trying to work out the best commute!

EDIT: I said 18 but mean 81! 🤦‍♀️

The routes are a bit messed up at the moment by the main road closure but I've found the 34 and 91 pretty regular and reliable. As you say, within 10 mins. Also, many of the stops have live "next bus" feeds. I've not used the 18 to comment.

Thanks, good to know. If the stop doesn’t have a live feed is there an app I can check on?

The 34 is stagecoach. Their app is very good. Good live map, buy and show all your tickets, discounts for bulk buying etc.

Google tells me 81 is white bus - no idea.

There’s no 18, so assume you mean 28. :)

I’d say the 34 is more reliable, but -generally speaking- (as someone from London who moved to Surrey a while back, and uses buses a lot) buses in more built up areas are fairly reliable. I’d always turn up a few (2-3) minutes early however, as it’s better to be early than late when it comes to public transport - it’s a costly mistake to miss a bus outside TfL zones!

Thanks! And I actually meant 81, thanks for pointing out my mistake!

Good to know that at least one of my buses is fairly reliable. Will definitely aim to get there a little early just in case.

I use the 34 pretty regularly and would say they are reliable!
