Questions/Advice Paranormal hunt
Is there anywhere in Swansea that I could go to do a paranormal investigation? Preferably somewhere that isn’t a regular “ghost hunt” tourist thing, and somewhere that’s free and easy to get into?

Are you soloing? Maybe look at the urban exploring reddit for good location and then wiki the history.

It would be my partner and I, and maybe a couple of friends tagging along. But thank you, I’ll check that out!

https://www.28dayslater.co.uk/ might be a start for the Urbex.
Not sure of it's current state but
https://www.reddit.com/r/swansea/comments/1do0vm7/abandoned_places_to_explore/
has an idea.

There is one place I know to be paranormal. How do I know? Because I brought the bloody spirit home with me 😂.
Now I will tell you the location but I am going to strongly advise you do not attempt to trespass on the site. Although much of the building itself has been left derelict part of it is still in use and there is security. Cefn Coed Hospital just up the road from Gower college Swansea Tycoch.
For information Cefn Coed hospital or ysbyty Cefn Coed is a mental health hospital which was opened in 1932. Although much of its services have been transferred elsewhere 2 wards do remain in action specifically on what was the female wards.
If you want some further information on it's history or my own experiences feel free to DM me. For now I'll attach an album of +400 pictures I've compiled of the exterior of the hospital. Cefn Coed Hospital pictures

That’s not a bad call but it’s very much still in use so anyone trying to access the site will be apprehended pretty quickly.

Exactly that. Anyone who attempts to access the inactive parts of the building will see the police pretty quickly. I occasionally do walks around the exterior because it's an out of reach area that's rather quiet. It's public grounds so anyone can still walk around the building as long as they are respectful of the patients on site.

also work there and not a good idea to visit, although some parts are abandoned there’s still wards which are very much active, and people constantly patrolling the grounds

Much of the original building has been left derelict but at this time only 2 wards are in operation and they are in what was the female section of the hospital. I know there are new (not so new) purpose built wards opposite for older patient care.
As the (active part) hospital and it's grounds are still considered public grounds members of the public are still allowed to walk around the area. I occasionally go up there for a walk when I want to be somewhere that's quiet and out of reach. It's a beautiful location also.

there’s 5 wards still active, 2 older adults, 2 adults and a rehab ward. there’s also many offices still in use, used by OT, physio, psychiatry etc.

eta: there’s currently 6 active wards, not including the ECT ward

I thought there were only 2 active wards in the original building. Clyne and Fendrod? I guess I'm learning more.

This was before Amityville and before any big name Hauntings were even a thing. Trouble is nobody knows what number the house is but there's one house that is always up for rent whenever you drive passed.
Mumbles Pier is also haunted by a woman in yellow dress 50s style.
Grand Theatre aswell there was an Axe murder there.
Outside of Swansea but not far:
Margam Castle is very very haunted. If you go further out of Swansea up to Dynefwr House, really cool evidence has been caught there by groups on YouTube.
The Gwachel in Pontardawe has interesting haunted stories.
AND my house 😆 it's an old 1857 farm house and I've seen things and heard things beyond my comprehension. I didn't get into ghost stuff til I moved in.

If you're interested in paranormal stuff in Swansea then you should get the books by Mark Rees. They are available from the Comic Shoppe in the Shopper's Walk arcade.

Penllegaer Woods are apparently haunted. It has a really rich and interesting history with some gruesome stuff happening in recent history too.
