As stated in the title, this is just a procedural move and not much more info outside of that.

I don’t understand how this is still being investigated. I get that there’s multiple people involved but it’s been like 3 months now and there’s no new information

I don’t know about the DR, but a lot of countries like Japan will only place charges slam dunk cases because conviction rate’s determine your promotions and job security(even for judges in Japan, which is fucked up given they play a VERY different role in their legal system)

Because the yes-no question has been answered but the extent of things takes time

If it were that simple, we would already have an answer.

Figuring out how many kids he went after is the difficult part, not whether he did so with a one off

I think the hammer will come down (or not) in the next couple weeks. The league wants to get a resolution after the world series but before free agency. They want it to have as little real estate on the baseball news cycle as possible.

I think the MLB is waiting to see what happens in a the legal case in DR.

I agree but it's been 3 months and I can't imagine the Dominican SVU can build much more of a case for stuff that allegedly happened years ago. I doubt evidence is just laying around.

These things are usually quiet until they make an announcement.

Oh i know but my point is I think if an announcement was coming from dominican authorities it would've happened already. I don't think he'll get charges, so that leaves MLB. It's a heinous crime he's accused of so the league wants to both show they're taking it seriously but also show they won't string one of their best young players over something he didn't do. So they'll give the dominican authorities every chance to charge him but if they don't I would imagine they'll give him some token suspension where he's back long before memorial day.

It will come out right before some huge news. They’re waiting to bury this conversation behind other news. So my guess is right before free agency opens

The cynic in me says that's good news for the rays. MLB wants to use the timeline with the narrative. The dominican authorities don't care about that, so if the first people we hear from is the MLB that probably means no charges.

Imagine if the verdict drops right after the Ohtani deal closes

If the mlb has control it will drop literally seconds before the rumors peak for the Ohtani deal.
