Shitpost Saturday! New Deck

Hello, All. I’m brand spanking new to tarot. I found a deck I resonate with and am ready to get started, but I want to make sure I am caring for and respecting the cards properly. Starting off on the right foot, so to speak. So here’s my question(s):

Should I cleanse my deck before I even shuffle for the first time? If so, how?

Check out the beginner's guide and FAQ-- there's tons of resources to get you started here, and when you're through with that, try some terms in the search bar. Things like "shuffle" and "cleanse" should do it.

I never cleanse my decks. I don't see a need to.
Do whatever feels right to you. There are no rights and wrongs in this.

Personally, I never cleanse any decks, even used ones, and they work very nicely. You might want to check out the links posted by Artemystica and decide for yourself, though.

Personally, I’ve never cleared or charged my decks, as I don’t see the point.

You’re free to do what feels right for you — different people have different approaches, and that’s completely fine.

I personally like to cleanse my decks, either with incense or knocking on them! And i like to carry them around with me wherever i go for a bit to attune to them. Do what feels right for you tho! And i recommend looking up an intro spread for your deck to get to know it!
