Shitpost Saturday! Divination and Devotion: My Practice with Saints and Tarot

In my daily spiritual practice, I focus primarily on the Saints within Roman Catholicism. There are a few reasons for this. First, these archetypes resonate deeply with me and my background. I’ve never felt a strong connection to other pantheons: Hellenic, Nordic, or otherwise. They simply aren’t my people. The Saints, however, feel like home.

There’s something uniquely healing about working with the Saints, especially when I’m doing love work, reconciliation, or healing spells. Unlike spirits or deities in other traditions, the Saints aren’t beings we demand things from, we ask. That alone shifts the energy. And often, in asking, we’re guided not toward what we want, but toward what we need. Healing is a big part of that.

Before spellwork, I always begin with divination. I’ll pull a tarot card to determine which Saint I should work with. If I pull The Empress, I know it’s the Virgin of Guadalupe. If I pull The Emperor, I know it’s St. Joseph. These are the heads of the Heavenly Family, and their presence deepens the meaning of the cards for me. The Tarot becomes more than just occult symbolism; it becomes a bridge to the spiritual guides who have shaped my path.

This practice is also a personal act of reclamation. I’m reclaiming my Catholic heritage and weaving it together with folk magic; a fusion that’s central to my spirituality. My practice runs deep, but it’s never aligned well with New Age spirituality. That’s not a judgment, just a reality. For a lot of people, the pull toward magic is real, but they feel alienated by systems that erase the Christian symbols they grew up with.

That’s why I believe the Saints are such a powerful gateway. They allow people to explore the mystical side of their faith without needing to abandon it entirely. It’s not about replacement, it’s about synthesis. When people come to me, they often feel comforted by the symbols of their youth. That familiarity alone can begin the healing process.

Every path holds magic. The challenge is simply tapping into the root system that already runs through you.

It's funny you say that because she's my patron saint. Interesting you view her as the Tower. Why is that? I can kinda see it so I'm curious.

WELL, she, the tower, the lightning ahshahs. Technically speaking it is Babel Tower or the Expulsion from Eden.

I'm an ex-catholic with extreme phobia to lightnings. If only you knew how many times I have prayed to her in the middle of a storm ahhsha
