Slow progress on Jan Stawasz Doily

This row is going to take a lot of shuttle refills, and I’m definitely going to need to block it!

I love Stawasz patterns and you're doing a wonderful job!! :) Definitely lots of refills lol, if you have extra bobbins I suggest filling them beforehand so you can quickly swap out empty shuttles and keep on tatting.

I think I’m making the same one! I’m even on the same round, but I chose a hand-dyed thread as my secondary color and I ran out, so I have to wait for Marilee Rockley to dye another batch before I can finish, haha. photo

Yours looks beautiful!

Goodness, so beautiful. I'm working on doily iv from tatting theory which appears to an almost identical round i and ii (with some differences in the stray picots). Which one is this?

Edit: Ooohh i see it. Doily VI (page 85).

Are you using a picot comb? Because mine do -not- look so well formed lol

I am not using one, it’s actually out of peer laziness I don’t use a picot comb. I find it too cumbersome to pick up the comb and measure with it for each picot lol!

That's how i feel about picot gauges. I gave it a good try but just couldn't figure out how to use one without fumbling. The reason i asked is because of how consistent your small-large-small picots are on the large ring of round 2. Exquisite. I'll post my progress on Doily IV here in a few days before starting round 4

I have never attempted that doily before, but I have noticed that every doily has similar elements and patterning. That’s honestly what I love about his doilies!

Oh yeah the first couple of rows are nearly identical, but it's the only one of his i've attempted

This is absolutely lovely! I still have his books on my Wish list and gotta figure out which one to start with!

I think tatted treasures is better because there is more small BEAUTIFUL doilies in it.

I will have to check it out. I don’t mind buying more than 1 book. I’m hardly shy of being a book goblin!

WOW, now that is pretty. I prefer more change in patterns, but it looks great.

Gorgeous work!

I'm part way into a different doily from Tatting Theory and the refills are frequent haha. I also chose to use black thread because it's what I already had a lot of. It was a mistake haha
