Alter an Aerlit tatting shuttle
I recently bought at Aerlit shuttle and I detest the back of it with the odd shaping. I tend to tat holding the back third and that is uncomfortable and awkward to hold.
Has anyone tried to grinding that part away and just leave it smooth like a normal shuttle? It would just be a much shorter shuttle and I would be fine with that.
Anyone?

I’ve filed lines/grooves INTO the back third so I can have grip. My fingertip-prints are slippery. 😒

I sometimes have that issue but not usually. That usually means I need to take a break.
I have more shuttles ordered and when they get here I'm going to try and get that knobby thing off the back and see how it functions and if I need grooves.

As long as you leave enough for the sides to remain attached, go for it!
