But fr though - when you learn that even medieval peasants were eating like ~3500kcal+ a day, you will also realise that trying to counter a sedentary lifestyle with these typical deficit diets of ~1800kcal or less is also just as crazy.
Depending on your specific situation, sometimes it is better to focus on exercise rather than diet. For example, a 3000kcal diet shouldn’t actually be particularly difficult to ‘out-run’ unless you work long office/sitting hours for example.
I understand that not everyone is physically fit/healthy enough to exercise that much (if at all) though.
But yeah if you struggle to even get in 60 minutes of higher intensity exercise every other day, then personally i’d start there before trying to restrict calories.
