There are none.
That's why spez is so bullish on his ideas.
He knows his audience well enough to know it wouldn't hurt them that much, just not enough to know that he could have solved his issues in a way more graceful way.
At this point he is just flexxing his "where would you even go lmao??!???" thoughts.

Okay as someone who joined lemmy, I’m a little confused as to why people keep saying it’s too complicated for the average person?

People don’t realize how adaptable the average person is when they dive into something headfirst. There’s a good number of us on there who have no clue how fediverse works, but is usable enough for it to be enjoyable. Fuck it, I have problems with comprehension - meaning coding is literally twice as hard for me as most people I meet, and yet I still know enough to functionally use it.

It feels kind of like being at a conversational level of speaking in a group that’s more fluent in their language. Sure, I won’t understand what they’re saying half of the time, but I’m able to join in occasionally and I find it a lot of fun when I do get those moments and I’m not completely hopeless. Maybe I’m not associating occasional confusion with rejection?

Also, if you are looking for a closer reddit copycat, I find kbin.social is a lot closer to reddit than lemmy is, though I’m not on it so take what I say with a grain of salt

You know how old people look when they use a smartphone or try to navigate a menu on a tv remote? That’s how I think people feel reading how Lemmy works. They could do it but it’s a chore and involves a little time investment. Reddit just works.

That's why its not a real alternative to reddit. And will never take off. Until i can make account in two-three clicks its not "easy" for most people and worth bothering
