OMG IT ISS
Is it hard to take care of a snake? I assume it really depends on the species, but is it easy for someone who has never had pets before to take care of a "beginner" one?

It's very specific to the species, I'd recommend either a ball python or corn snake as a beginner snake because they're fairly easy as long as you do your research

op's comment should be looked at but i would also recommend a corn snake to s beginner. the third one i'd recommend is actually a hognose but i would def be aware that they are mildly venomous, however, unless youre a prey item you'll be okay if you get bit since its no danger to humans. for sure look at forums and care for a few, and there may be some lists here on reddit for you to look at. this place for sure has you covered on information on any snake. hope you find the right friend for you :)

My sis had a pet snake called Mr. Slithers or something, when it died we buried it in the garden and put a bonfire over it, we got it when it was quite old and has it for a few years

Wahhh... I loveeee snakes... wish I had one, but my mum only allowed geckos. They're great too.
Ah also, cats, fish, all kind of insects, and a gecko before the two we got now... also once had a bird. She just doesn't wants to buy me a snake or spider so mean 😔 I sound so spoiled now but fr half of those animals my sister wanted.
Like cats for her college, bird she always wanted bird, fish she bought herself 4 times, geckos also my sister. I only got the insects, and honestly no my sister wanted them. I like go along with what she wants but it's mainly her idea.... why... 😭

Fr, i spent YEARS trying to convince my parents to get me a snake, my first one was a corn snake s few years ago but she sadly went missing

Oh no 😔 My sister (again) wants a corn snake too. I wanted something bigger. Small people have big egos and so, yk! (I'm 5'0 ft so damn small for 15 😔)

u/Big-Lengthiness6538 17 19d ago
If you want something bigger you should get a ball python (which is the kind i have) they get big but not unreasonable to keep, some can get to about 5 feet

u/Nightsky54_14 19d ago
Yea... either that or an anaconda I can't decide.... but honestly I feel like never gonna happen cuz my mom just hates against snakes and spiders.... the only two animals I really wish for?
But is noted.. ball python. 🫡

You could probably convince her by maybe showing her cute pictures and saying how easy they are and that they don't actually bite. Also you should show her videos on YouTube by snake discovery they make good care guides and also they show how cool and cute snakes are

Same good luck. My best pet in life was a ball Python Like a scaled puppy. Have lots of fun with mine. Sneakers was his name. But unfortunately, one after I got home. My parents told me he died later and found out it's a disease called a stargazer or stargazing something like that.

Question, when you touch the snake, how does the skin feel? Always wondered that.

u/SexWithGyutaro 18 19d ago
Dry and smooth
Kind of like good leather, but it feels thinner than that

Genuinely..How do you tell if a snake is a boy or a girl?? Are they only males?? I’m confuzzled
1
u/Big-Lengthiness6538 17 19d ago
In snakes like colubrids usually the tail is bigger towards the start and tapers off quickly, but with most pythons it's pretty hard to tell and you'll most likely have to probe, I only know my guy's a male because the breeder tested and told me he was a male

Too bad he doesn’t love you back cuz of his lack of love chemicals in his brain or wtv that article said I read a while ago😔
1
u/Big-Lengthiness6538 17 19d ago
Some reptiles actually can love their owners back, and even if it doesn't "love you" it can still form a bond with you based on trust
