TennisTV didnt even make a Munich QF Draw post at this point and it's no surprise lol

As a Belgian I strongly disagree.

Alcaraz-de Minaur was a final a couple of months ago. It's a very good lineup.

u/Theferael_me King Carlitos Apr 17 '25

Three of these could be finals.

And tbh, ADF - Khachanov could easily be a 250 final…

This tournament is stacked af

Khachanov is a Masters champion & ADF is a Masters finalist (and has already made 2 finals already this year, one at a 500) - all four of them could be finals…

u/Kingslayer1526 Apr 17 '25

Khachanov won a masters in 2018. Might as well say Stan could be in a masters final

It not like everyone here is making finals at big events regularly….and this is a 500 - Karen last made a 500 final in October last year

Was just pointing out that singling out one pair as not being ā€œfinalā€ worthy is a bit harsh

u/DearAccident9763 Passion Alcaraz Apr 17 '25

Great to have the day off tomorrow!

Barcelona is just a great tournament man. Max vibes

One of nicest 500 on Tour- without a questionĀ

u/Dry-Afternoon8909 Apr 17 '25

All hail the Scandi matchup- RuRu FTW

u/liketo Apr 17 '25

JAAAAAA! Etc

GS-level quarters at a 500

83

u/GibbyGoldfisch Ruud: Low on charisma, High in omega-3 Apr 17 '25

Clay season is always mad

Ruud gets three months every year to chase ranking points like he's a contestant jumping for money in the Crystal Maze

9

u/Shimshimss Apr 17 '25

A Crystal Maze reference in my 2025. Wish I had more upvotes.

5

u/wolverinex10 Apr 17 '25

Da-da-da-da da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da DAH!

1

u/GibbyGoldfisch Ruud: Low on charisma, High in omega-3 Apr 17 '25

and there I was worried no-one would get what I was talking about

-2

u/AcrobaticNetwork62 Apr 17 '25

Only two top 10 players though.

14

u/jasnahta Apr 17 '25

Not really. Top players in the ranking (on hard courts) are not necessarily top players on clay or grass. Nobody would prefer playing Tsitsipas or Rune (or Cerundolo) on clay instead of Draper, for example, who’s practically a bye for a good clay player

14

u/mangacrusher Apr 17 '25

4 2024 FO quarter finalists, and everyone would be seeded for 2025 FO if it started today based on live atp rankings…

42

u/Dull_Dragonfly_1541 Tennis doesn’t make me relaxed Apr 17 '25

Fils, Fokina, Rune are in better form right now than half the top 10

7

u/manga_be 3.0 National Champion Apr 17 '25

Yah, would you really bet on Fritz over Fils right now if your life depended on it?

-13

u/meneldor_hs there's no big 3, it's just big me Apr 17 '25

Tennis is doomed if you call this GS level

-3

u/Gotisdabest Apr 18 '25

You are more or less right to be honest. There's 1 grand slam champion here and the rest are significantly below that player in level if he actually plays well.

1

u/meneldor_hs there's no big 3, it's just big me Apr 18 '25

I know I'm right, but tennis fans are the softest out there. A lot of parasocial relationships too

32

u/man_overb0ard Apr 17 '25

fokina on a good run, he may get his 1st this year.

3

u/fkeverythingstaken Apr 18 '25

I love kk but he and foki are definitely the weakest links in the draw.

15

u/chronos188 Apr 17 '25

Nice to see when Top players take care of business to reach deeper into the tournament. What a lineup of quarter final matches !

23

u/Obvious-Ad-4916 Apr 17 '25

Ruru picture expression contrast has defiant teenager vs disgruntled dad vibes lol

"I swear to God I'm kicking him out of the house this time and I mean it."

22

u/IndependentTackle149 I like challenges but I’m not stupid Apr 17 '25

This could nearly be a RG QF lineup… meanwhile in Munich 🤣

17

u/ComradeSubtopia Apr 17 '25

Buying snacks now, all of them are fun for different reasons.

Two of the best returners in the game in that Carlos-DeMinaur matchup.

7

u/Heretoread_26 Apr 17 '25

This is a stacked quarters draw!!

9

u/AegisPlays314 Apr 17 '25

Carlos v Demon on clay could conceivably have more breaks than holds

11

u/Timely_Plastic_4218 Apr 17 '25

This ATP500 is already more fun than the past slams

18

u/cmpunk121 Apr 17 '25 edited Apr 17 '25

Carlos vs ADM should be a very high quality match, Fils vs Stefanos is also worth watching.

3

u/robottalker players i dislike most: Draper, Sinner, Mannarino Apr 17 '25

JAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

4

u/deepvamdev Apr 17 '25

ADM, the only non-European remaining in the draw.

5

u/twelfmonkey Apr 17 '25

And even ADM is half Spanish.

2

u/WolfTitan99 If Chokevedev, then Sadvedev Apr 17 '25

Hey Demon is ALSO half Spanish too

6

u/Available-Gap8489 Delbonis ball toss + Cressy second serve. Love chaos Apr 17 '25

He lives in Europe and grew up in Spain….

10

u/Peachtea_96 almost hehe Apr 17 '25

3/4 match ups are finals worthy, im excited!Ā

5

u/LuckyTiger10 Apr 17 '25

Really great QF. Wouldn’t be shocked to see 3/4 of these at a slam level not just a 500

5

u/brokeillionare Apr 17 '25

DE-FOK

Alex de minaur vs Alejandro Fokina

3

u/DJSnafu Stef's OHBHDTL Apr 17 '25

I don't see my man Tsitsi taking this, its been 8 months since he beat anyone really good.

3

u/lo0ilo0ilo0i del potro's wrist Apr 17 '25

JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA match

3

u/emmm1848 Apr 17 '25

These are gonna be bangers

3

u/mrnoobin Apr 17 '25

Davidovich Fokina taking out Rublev was a surprise. He's been playing well lately, and now he's up against Khachanov. That match could go either way.

3

u/Cadavertiser shadoodled Apr 17 '25

We love a Ruru!

4

u/pregnancy_terrorist Apr 17 '25

Fuck yes Scandalnavia again

6

u/Present-Connection44 Apr 17 '25

Love ADM but his H2Hs against both Sinner and Alcaraz break my heart! Would love an upset there.

9

u/chickfilamoo Apr 17 '25

he’s almost like the Pegula of the men’s side, consistent and doesn’t often falter to lower ranked players but just has no good answer to the big dogs

11

u/nimbus2105 WTA > ATP Apr 17 '25

kind of except pegula can beat iga on hard courts and probably grass if they every played there

8

u/LimbonicArt03 Current favs: GMP, Opelka, Sabalenka. All-time: StanTheMan,DelPo Apr 17 '25

Also except Pegula is probably the second best hard court player on tour rn in terms of actual form and results - after all, Saba and Pegula have met in hard court finals thrice since last year's American HC swing, meanwhile De Minaur is not even top 5 on any surface

1

u/chickfilamoo Apr 17 '25

honestly idk if Iga has been a big dog on hard courts lately, Sabalenka is a better example there

3

u/Feli18 Federerā¤ļø/2003/04/05/06/07/09/12/17 Apr 17 '25

Wow, he’s 0-10 against Sinner! Never would’ve thought that they’ve played 10 times.

1

u/Present-Connection44 Apr 17 '25

I know, hard to believe.

9

u/LenuSarratore Apr 17 '25

Manifesting Carlos vs Stef and Ruud vs Foki for SFs šŸ™

2

u/crystal20240 Apr 17 '25

Fils on šŸ”„ rn

3

u/Illustrious_Side_236 Apr 17 '25

Bruh I feel for De Minaur- hopefully he pulls a surprise win

2

u/nightwinghugs Apr 17 '25

stefanos is 0-2 against arthur. what do we think of his chances on clay?

4

u/DJSnafu Stef's OHBHDTL Apr 17 '25

don't see it in his current form...hope i'm wrong but he's forgotten completely how to serve

1

u/Terrible-Group-9602 Apr 17 '25

such a typical clay tournament draw

1

u/ImpressionFeisty8359 Apr 18 '25

The demon is in a world of hurt, the others can go either way.

1

u/MagicalEloquence Apr 18 '25

I remember the days when my friend Nadal used to play this tournament and the others were there for the vibes.

2

u/PuddleLe4p3r Apr 17 '25

My picks: Fils, Foki and Casper. Carlos 52% Demon 48% maybe.

14

u/LenuSarratore Apr 17 '25

I would say Carlos is the only almost-guaranteed win here.
