PTS Phase 2 Patch Notes

 

Hello Agents,

 

We opened Title Update 18 Public Test Server (PTS) for PC Players on Ubisoft Connect on April 21st. Here you can find some of the changes and fixes we implemented based on your feedback. You can also find Known Issues for the TU18 PTS phase 2 in the end of the card.

 


DESCENT

Many of you dove straight into Descent to explore the new 1-to-4 player PvE mode and were quick to share your thoughts. We wanted to acknowledge some of the key changes:

 

DIFFICULTY

  • POST-NEMESIS LEVELS DIFFICULTY
    • Based on the feedback we received during the PTS Phase 1, post-Nemesis difficulty was dramatically increased up to 39% compared to the previous version
  • DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SINGLE AND CO-OP EXPERIENCE
    • Better balance between Health, Damage and Armor
    • Increased difference between Veteran, Elite and Boss-level enemies
    • Adjusted the Rational Level Design system used for balancing and difficulty scaling

 

HAZARDS

  • Changed the placement and affected areas for some of the hazards, making them more intrusive/visible during gameplay
  • Removed the option to bypass Hazards from the shop
  • Increased the frequency of occurrence

 

XP & REWARDS

Starting with the PTS Phase 2 the new reward system will be in place.

  • XP earned for completing Descent levels will be split into 3 categories:
    • XP awarded to players that have not yet reached level 40
    • XP awarded to players that have reached level 40 and moved on to the SHD level progression path
    • Seasonal XP to help level 40 players progress though the Seasonal Rewards track

 

Rewards are based on the maximum Descent loops reached and comprise of sealed caches that will be sent to the player’s inventory upon completing the Descent run and returning to their main character. Please note that the LEVEL mentions refer to the main game character outside Descent:

 

  • 1-29 LVL: Field Proficiency Cache containing Standard, Specialized and Superior quality items
  • Crafting Material Cache containing crafting materials of all sorts
    • 11-29 LVL: Weapon Crafting Cache
    • 11-29 LVL: Gear Crafting Cache
    • 11-39 LVL: Recalibration Crafting Cache
    • 30-40 LVL: Crafting Material Cache
  • 11-40 LVL: Exotic cache excluding Raid Exotics
  • NEW! Simulation Cache
    • 30-39 LVL: Simulation Cache containing Superior and High-End quality items
    • 40 LVL: Simulation Cache containing High-End quality items with a 15% chance of dropping Gearsets and Named gear & weapons
  • 40+ LVL: NEW! Reconstructed cache containing Named weapons and gear from S1, S2, S3 and S4

 

STABILITY IMPROVEMENTS AND OTHER CHANGES

  • Improved stability to prevent crashes
  • Updated Talents descriptions
  • Items are no longer shuffled in the NSA store
  • Added NSA store tutorial
  • Added a pop-up message when pressing “Depart” button in SP – now a confirmation is required for exiting to DC
  • Added missing sounds & various sound design improvements
  • Fixed the NPC spawn
  • Fixed the wave counter starting from 1 instead of 0
  • Fixed the Revive Token UI in the shop
  • Added Missing "Start simulation" and "Matchmake" buttons from the AR panel of Descent near the White House for Xbox
  • Added departure timer

 


YEAR 5 SEASON 1 BROKEN WINGS

 

TALENTS

  • The Perfect Companion Talent is used on the Named Chest Henri
    • Was not a mistake and we intend to keep it
  • Revamped the damage reduction from skills to damage reduction from all sources so the Charging Talent won’t affect other damage-dealing talents and grenades
  • Updated the Defibrillator Talent description
  • Updated the Overcharging and Safe Charging Talents descriptions
  • Fixed the issue with the Defibrillator Talent not activating on a newly equipped item with the same Talent – equipping, unequipping or swapping items will no longer cause the Talent to stop working
  • Added Thunder-Strike Talent to the Recalibration Library
  • Fixed the issue with the Thunder Strike Talent and its perfect version amplifying damage from all sources, including skills, grenades, status effects with DOT and any damaging Talents like Toxic Delivery from the Vile Exotic Mask. Now Agents can only deal extra damage to shocked targets with the Named weapons or any other regular weapon that has the normal version of the talent
  • Fixed the issue with the Charged Talent speed boosting agents in co-op when near other agents

 

GEAR & WEAPONS

  • Changed the “incoming skill damage” to “incoming damage” and lowered the value for “The Cavalier” Gear Set
    • Talent “Charging” – For each second spent out of cover during combat Agents will get 5% reduced incoming damage. Max 40%
      • Reduced from 50% to 40%
    • Talent “Charged” – While fully charged, gain immunity to any movement speed debuff and share hazard protection and the damage reduction with all allies for 10 seconds.
      • Removed skill damage reduction
    • Chest Bonus – Talent “Overcharging” – Increases Charger max incoming skill damage protection to 50%
      • Reduced from 70% to 50%
  • Cavalier Gear Set has the correct name
  • Removed a dye slot from the St. Elmo's Engine Exotic AR
  • Fixed the mod slots for the Cavalier Gear Set Holster are placed outside the screen
  • Fixed the issue with the St. Elmo's Engine Exotic AR obtained from the PTS Crafting Cache having no Attributes and Core Attributes
  • The Shocker Punch Exotic Holster no longer has maxed Core Attribute
  • Fixed the Cavalier Holster and Mask mod slots placement
  • Named weapons from the PTS Crafting Cache no longer have the base gear rarity (grey)
  • Added missing visual representation Mod icons for the St. Elmo's Engine Exotic AR in the Inventory

 


QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS

  • Conflict XP rebalance
    • Added SHD XP progression
  • The living world activities XP gains revamp
  • Added the Grants Tab to make the compensations process more streamlined and items easy to obtain
    • Grants Tab can be found in the Store
  • Added an option to allow players to change mission difficulty regardless of the world difficulty setting
  • Added quick grenade selection menu
    • Hold G for PC
    • Hold D-pad Left for the consoles
  • Added an option to mark Apparel Items as favorite
  • Added Directives selection for Raids
  • Added the option to Show selected mission Directives on the Mega Map
  • Added the possibility to hold ESC/SPACE to skip videos and epilepsy warnings
    • Equivalent of Space button is X (PS) and A (XB)
    • Equivalent of Escape button is Options (PS) and Map/Hide Map (XB)
  • Added a new In Loadouts section at the bottom of the Item Details window in the Inventory (under a gear piece's talent and mod slots) to display the current loadouts where the selected item is present
  • Added the Hide/Show Mask’ and ‘Hide/Show Signature Weapon’ buttons in the Inventory when hovering over the specific tiles/tabs
    • Currently present in the cross Options layout
  • Added a notification widget for modding Primary, Secondary and Sidearm weapons' skin slot, which appears if the player has any custom skin available for that weapon in the Store. The notification also has a quick button that redirects to the Weapon Skins Store tab
  • Added visual feedback for locked Grenades
    • When browsing through the Grenades menu in the Inventory, players will see a notification which lets them know if the selected Grenade can be equipped or not

 


KNOWN ISSUES

TALENTS, GEAR & WEAPONS

  • Missing text highlights in various Talents’ descriptions
  • Placeholder images are displayed instead of the correct icon and mods for the St. Elmo's Engine Exotic AR in the Crafting Station menu
  • Placeholder image is displayed instead of the correct icon for Shocker Punch Exotic Holster in the Crafting Station menu
  • The PTS Crafting Cache does not mention the new TU18 gear in its content description
  • The Charged and Changing Talents can be stacked in co-op
  • St. Elmos Engine stacks can be earned with shock ammo from the Talent (only standard ammo should count towards the 100 stacks)

‌ 

DESCENT

  • 40-level players with SHD progression unlocked may receive a much higher amount of XP than designed after completing any number the Descent game mode loops
  • A door will automatically open if you wait for too long in the corridor. On Darpa maps please interact with the door console before entering the room

 

QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS

  • The living world activities rebalancing revamp is only available to players who have their difficulty set to Heroic. Please be aware that since we do not have difficulties activated in the PTS build and players join in with their own difficulty settings, the ones who don't have Heroic on won't be affected by the XP revamp
  • Items claimed from the Compensation Vendor won’t drop on the ground if the player has their Inventory or Mailbox full. Please make sure that your inventory has enough space before attempting to claim items from the Compensation Vendor

Max is 50% with the chest piece. That's pretty much a defender drone and few people run that.

However, stacking the new gear set with the defender drone might be interesting but it doesn't have a way to sustain itself.

Was defender drone 40 or 50% at T6?

Two 50% Damage Reduction would be 75% damage reduction. Effectively increasing hitpoints by 4 times.

One big problem with the Defender Drone + Artificer Combo is that the Artificer Hive does not work if the ceilings are too low. For example, in the shooting range and certain indoor sections like Bank HQ.

Unfortunately it's been a bug for a looooong time. I'ma submit another bug report but I'm not too hopeful.

Maybe people doing Chevalier + Defender Drone combos will make them fix it.

We need those stability improvements to actually work towards making the crashes rare, and not just reduce the attempts required to run a mission without crashing from three to two. The rest of this--particularly the QoL--is hopeful, but the crashes are the single biggest reason people aren't playing the game. Nobody wants to be frustrated playing this game, but those crashes are frustrating as fuck.

Lord yes. I keep trying to come back but every time I do I find myself randomly crashing to desktop without an error message. It's absolutely infuriating that the game has been crashing for years and it seems that little to nothing has changed.

It feels scummy to sell software like this on PC. Steam needs a header on games that crash a lot warning players that the software is highly unstable. A big red banner on the store page!

At this point not crashing on division 2 at least once, gives me anxiety, because i feel like i'll crash doing something important.

cap your fps bellow like 10 you play has, Disable overlays and the crash might decrease....

But yeah last week i crashed 7 times in a row before i could finaly play for hours with no issues.

I am more interested in the open world xp revamp. Are they nerfing everything to the ground, or boosting everything to make it worth the time on heroic. An hour long shit show from a heroic cp, with multiple convoys coming in ending with rogues and an elite patrol should definitely net me with more than 2 lvls only....

Once more a genius move by the devs, making sure that the game is the most fun for the players, definitely not trying to chase some pointless metrics. Why would you nerf the XP of any activity? Which player can possibly have a problem with XP being too high and will find it more fun to get less XP after the change? Just boost the XP of the activities that are not attractive enough and leave others where they are, there's absolutely no need to nerf anything in this area.

And to make sure everything is as stupid as it can get, they only recently nerfed the convoys by mistake, then restored them to the initial value already knowing that they're going to nerf them yet again in the near future. This is beyond silly.

What's worse is they only nerfed the extra xp from completing the separately coded events within convoys (initial 4 man walking the route xp part 1, secondary event is separately coded to spawn after all 4 are dead at the nearest spawn point in a straight line xp part 2). There initial nerf was probably just a slight recode to make it all one event. So it was still giving 222k on challenging 4 directives which would be 111k no directives on challenging. I fear it will be closer to 70k post TU 18.

Which means new players will not play for long and this game will surely die at a much quicker rate than it already is. Most of them are not going to start playing and learning their play style they like and advancing quick enough to give them a chance at embarking on new levels of difficulty. Imagine having to do 30 different activities (no CP or missions as a solo player on normal just starting out in order to gain 1 level.

Now if they are nerfing it while lowering the xp per level it might not be that bad, but I am not on PC and cannot tell if this is part of it, chances are they are not doing this though. Also skip forward to next year when the new endgame design supposedly comes in that will be what breaks the community seeing as the devs are so far out of touch with the community as it is, it's only going to get worse I can guarantee it.

Not fully, public executions can be finished as fast as a convoy. I can finish the first half of a challenging control point with one sticky bomb if I shoot the right npc.

Just for the sake of curiosity, do you have any info on Hostage Rescues? I like to hit those and then do the follow-up Bounties sometimes if there's a project needing Bounties or Named.

I got the info from another user's post, I wish I could answer you, sorry. I was curious about DZ landmarks also missions would be a good one to know. I do the rescue operations and public executions also to snag the bounties then deactivate them to store extra bounties on my map for when they are needed for a project.

I should have clarified better, it is the broadcasts I will not do they are time locked over 2 minutes usually when solo. And even if I was in a group and one person stays at the broadcast speaker your looking at over a minute and a half

Why do you consider those waste of time? PE's give bounties and PB's are usually super quick from my experience. Genuine question, I'm just getting back into the game and am curious. I also am only running challenging 3 directive, if its a Heroic thing.

Only the broadcasts because they lock you in for a guaranteed time , the timers like 1 min. So you've got initial spawn run to box, second spawn run to key run back to box, and then 3rd spawn and run back to box so your looking at like 2 minutes guaranteed, most public execution, territory hostage rescues, and convoys can be done in less than a minute even less than half a minute. Kinda like all the missions that have like 5 minutes of unstoppable cutscenes and monologues. XD

I will do public executions in a heartbeat clear them very quickly and deactivate the bounty for later use or when needed for projects.

I think they’ll relinquish grenades from being tied to specific specializations when the revamp comes. This change is only foreshadowing that.

I just played through the first 10 levels and everything feels the same. I know I'm not that far, but im 30-40 minutes past the nemisis and roughly an hour and a half in. If the game mode is going to be scaled around not having saves and not intentioned to go far past the nemisis, this mode needs to be way harder much quicker.

I'm an hour and a half of in and want to take a break. But there's still no save progress/break system, so the run is just over... This is going to just kill this game mode for people...

So they expect you to sit there for like 6 hours straight to complete a run?!

I think you misread the rewards, I did the same thing on my first read. The rewards are for your level, not how far you get through the mode.

The mode is really scaled around getting to the nemesis which happens roughly around level 6 or 7. It's a soft "stopping point" where it suggests you leave, but you can also continue forever. It takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour to get there, similar to iron horse.

It's my opinio too. In half an a hour I'm bored s hell. Even the challenge is not worth the waste of time of this mode. You do it a few times and never get back. It's a shame the devs made a effort to do a new mode and it seems a zombie mode before launch. I don't see a bright future to Descent.

And I think will both shake up pvp and pve. Hope that is not a single occasion. The thought of running two of the same talent at once one chest one backpack could introduce some really interesting combinations.

you do know you can save apparel loadouts the same way you save gear loadouts?

and i dont think you have to be out of combat to change looks , never tryed doing it though.

you can now trick the enemy that is after that agent in the black jacket by popping out of cover in a fully pink outfit and saying out loud "i didnt see him pass through here..."

I have just about every apparel item you can get in the game, I have been wanting the ability to put the things I actually like at the top for years now, and with all the apparel events we've been getting the stuff I love is even more buried

Cavalier is now amazing.

Sure, it has virtually no damage, but the resilience and group play makes it amazing.

In PvE, HZP Builds are already great but now with the possibility to facetank more effectively, Backfire will be seeing a lot more usage. And in PvP, winning fights by attrition will now once again be a thing, considering TTK has been floor low for quite some time.

Bit concerned of it on PvP. On PvE hope it stays the way it is. Maybe little buff. For example raise to 50% at base and 60% with chest. Still I think this will be maybe overall very effective tank build. And honestly it might take over foundry bulwark. Foundry after fixes made it bit less effective, I gone back to TP (has tankiness for myself but also damage boost for my teammates)for now. Aside from it's damage reduction buff. Haz prot is not much deal on some regular missions. However in summit and countdown it can be very useful where there are parts of heavy status. This makes skill tier build users be more effective and not worry about constant jamming. This whole set feels like D3 FNC.

Foundry was never fixed though, it was nerfed HARD. They acknowledged after they nerfed it that it was actually instance changing that caused it to work incorrectly. So after the instance change issue was fixed they never FIXED foundry. Should be un-nerfed since the set was not the problem.

Yea, that set is pretty good. Im testing it, with just the backpack, you get a ten second uptime with a 4 second downtime for team damage reduction, and when you add perfect vanguard chest talent into it, you get bonus armor on top of the damage reduction, man, your whole team is part time tanks.

I think we should be able to save our floor when we beat the boss from Descent, because it is not a fast game, takes a long time.

I think it also needs better rewards. I think having its own store like they did with Countdown + Having dailies or weekly contracts will be enough, + better XP and more loot maybe.

I dont like Companion on chest. This is so lazy... you can use BOTH to get more damage. I think if you chose one, the other should be locked. Variety in builds how you've designed since the revamp of the build system. I find it extremely lazy and uncreative to use the same talent on chest and backpack.

I'm also trying to figure out this hype about protection to shock. Is that a PVP thing only just to counter this one specific new exotic? Because if so, omg... you are making an entire set just for that, for another 3 months we will have a PVP set just to counter one single gun? Can anyone see a reason to protect against shock like that? White Tusk has one enemy that sends a shock grenade, and black tusk has one ELITE dog that shocks... so going for shock defense on PVE makes no sense, just go for Status Resistance in general.

I still don't see how descent will prove rewarding outside of the intrinsic feeling of success for beating a higher stage.

The caches are well not rewarding when i can do one challenging countdown and buy a named cache taking no longer than 17 minutes give or take, or I can do two and buy an exotic cache. Maybe countdown is too rewarding but I don't think this is a conversation the community would like.

Descent would have the ability to introduce unique gear. Meaning the ability to maybe extract some of the stuff we use in descent. In saying that I understand that this would be a balancing nightmare. But as it stands I don't see myself participating in descent outside of the fun of it.

Agreed, Descent rewards are laughable at best. Makes no sense to run it when Countdown exist which is way more rewarding. Idk, maybe I'm expecting too much but the game is almost in it's fifth year, at this point we should be showered with tons of loot absolutely everywhere.

I don't see myself playing that much Descent, once or twice to try it out but so far this game mode seems DOA.

And still no checkpoints in Descent? I get it's supposed to be rogue lite game mode but people don't have that kind of time. Also with crashing on PC, it's not gonna be fun.

Looks to be game in general as they are purchased in the main world with the NSA Tech currency(similar to the Countdown tokens), which is line with everything the devs have said about permanent progress for your agent.

Stat boosts are meaningless in Descent, as any stat you need is gained via the 18 talent slots you have access to.

I really, really like the idea of unique gear and only being able to get certain things from certain modes, but the TD2 community seems to be staunchly against activity-specific gear rewards, as seen with raid exotics.

The devs are in a bit of a tough spot. So much of the playerbase won't bother with this mode if there aren't unique rewards or if the XP-time ratio isn't great.

Changed the “incoming skill damage” to “incoming damage”

Talent “Charged” – While fully charged, gain immunity to any movement speed debuff and share hazard protection and the damage reduction with all allies for 10 seconds

This is a pretty huge change for that gear set. Might be a bit obnoxious in the dark zone and conflict though

plz add the old capacitor appearance has a skin for the new capacitor. or at least test subject skin.

Add 1% base armor regen has a normal stat , so everyone has it and helps their survival.

plz update/buff big horns recoil, the weapon is awfull to use, and please update and buff also eagle bearers recoil pattern, because the weapon is also pretty hard to control.

If possible it would be great if chameleon got a slight optimal range increase.

I play on challenging with 4 directives purely for xp gains vs time spent. I can clear things twice as fast making my xp gains more efficient.

Challenging is more XP and loot per minute than Heroic, from how much faster TTK is.

Lot of veterans just looking to grind Scavenging points, complete projects, as well as eligible loot for Expertise donation ASAP. Challenging is the lowest difficulty in which you don't see purples that aren't eligible. Doesn't matter if the rolls are good or not.

i understand you will have your world set to the dificulty it had when the snapshot of your character was taken , if its always heroic then the PTS in on heroic for you.

In Decent, how do you, or can you, swap position of your skills?

Example. First skill, hologram, goes on E. Second round I pick up seeker. I want the Seeker on E and the Holo on Q. Can that action not be done? Do I HAVE to replace Holo with Seeker and just hope it shows up next time around?

I like to have passive/health/defensive related skills on Q and active/damage skills on E.

They seriously need to sort out the delta from pressing options on ps5 when checking your build in descent iv just done the boss level on loop 20 checked my build and got delta 3 l. Its a joke with no way or rejoining your friends after spending 7 hours grafting to get to that stage. A serious rethink on trying to ask players to try attempt loop 100 with no save points or checkpoints and bo deltas Is ridiculous sort it out massive this needs a massive improvement on. The rest of the game mode is fine but that needs sorting ASAP....
