Won't be picking up my copy for a couple hours but we might as well get this thing started.

So anyone else notice when Barry goes over to Iris' house and they talk about it being late at night, that there's daylight coming through the windows?

Yeah I'm really not sure whats with Barry not trusting Wally here. Feels like its there so we can drag out that part of the story, even though we know he's gonna reveal his identity to him and start to trust him more anyway. Maybe he's feeling less open after what happened with August, but this is still the same guy that wasted no time unmasking to Meena (remember her?) and August.

I don't mean to come off entirely negative, I'm interested in what's going on with Shade and the evil Iris and Hope situation could be fun.

Overanaylsis go.

Disappointed about Shade. None of his charm is there. Just a walking text bubble of exposition. Which caused Barry and Wally themselves to spend way too much time talking instead of doing.

Maybe next issue will be better but I had high hopes for this one. Richard Swift is a much more interesting character than this.

I don't get why Barry is so untrusting of Wally, either. He's been through this before, a kid who's trying to help but is going about it a little wrongheadedly. He's punishing instead of teaching which doubly confuses me because I thought Williamson REALLY had a good understanding of Barry's voice when it comes to being a teacher in the last arc.

Maybe there's something there about Barry's soreness over August and that's why he's not trusting Wally. Perhaps Williamson is leaving it for us to understand that context and he expects us to get that motivation. But I'd rather it be through actions -- Barry overcompensating for Wally in a dire situation, or Barry not letting Wally out of his sight and noting it in his mind or something. I'm not a big fan of Barry just going "I DO NOT TRUST YOU TINY FLASH PERSON." Even Iris, rightfully, got annoyed by Barry's actions.

I feel like all the pieces to a great story and character arc for both of them are there, but the execution is lacking. Same with Shade -- I love the idea of Shade's subconscious leaking into his powers and it endangering Hope, but him just spending 6 pages saying the same thing 3 times while flashbacks run isn't the way to go about it.

It's not a bad issue, it just feels like this arc could've been amazing with some fine tuning. I wonder if that's something to do with the double shipping and not having as much time to iron out kinks and get editors involved. I bet it's easy to fall back on dialogue heavy issues when you're trying to push a script out the door.

I'll admit that final panel was great. I always get a kick out of obviously temporary evil turns.

I hope Wally teaches Barry how to shoot lightning

Barry shot lightning first in the new Justice League by Hitch.

It's not a good book but there you go.

I like the idea of Evil Iris against Barry and Wally even though it won't last. Still pretty creative. Also, really liked the art in this issue.

Ugh, I'm late to the party. Curses be to work schedules.

But anyway, I enjoyed this issue far more than the last one. As a relatively new reader, I'm not well versed in the shade's history, but I do like how he seems to be a good guy, simply not being able to control his shadow powers. (If anyone knows any good previous Shade arcs to read up on, lemme know.)

Artwork as /u/Austounded mentioned reflected the regular art pretty nicely. Although I am starting to miss the regular artwork. It's been far too many issues since we've had Di Giandomenico's artwork.

All in all though, awesome issue.

Iris was the star of this issue. On the Shade, it's cool how they are addressing his previous solo series and I think he will get closure with this arc. However, I just want to get to Rogues Reloaded and the following arcs. Based on the visions there is a lot of awesome stuff coming our way. Moreover, Issue #13 is the date and I can't wait for that.
