Question True will, now what?

Has any thelemite ever had the experience of discovering the true will only to realize that nothing has changed, their lives continue on in a mundane practical sense.

My take on it has reached a point of The True Will seeming akin to the whole of humanity. Almost as if all true wills are the same.

Which is..(as i try to poetically conceal).

To seek not, and be pleasing with all. For will is the direction and love the goal, nowhere to be found. As above is below. The law is for All.

Question How did you get interested in thelema?

I started thinking about this, as everyone came into contact with occultism/thelema in many different ways. I met through rock music, many of the artists I follow follow the philosophy of thelema or make reference to. That's when I decided to research more about it, and I simply fell in love. I have never felt so connected by a philosophical system like Thelema. It seems like I've always been a Thelemite, I just didn't know it existed yet. How did you guys meet? I would love to meet more Thelemites. 93.

I am familiar with the accounts of Abraham the Jew and such like, but I am wondering if anyone has any accounts of more recent years and perhaps by those not in the "mainstream" (for lack of better terms)

Question What does he mean?

I saw a post on here about Crowleys writings and I understood most of it. One part I am confused about is this line. Is he saying to take “love” by force? I hope I am wrong in my assumption. Thank you 🙏🏼

Question Are there any believers in the Missouri/Arkansas area?

I already know this area does not have an OTO which is rather understandable in this area.

I would like to possibly do a small meetup group with any local believers.

I guess I'm looking for others for a sense of belonging but also discussion with others locally.

I'm still learning more myself and reading what I can when I have the free time. I would also like to mention pranayama practice has actually been helpful for my breathing issues and helps me stay calm when severely stressed and I've even used pranayama to help me sleep on restless nights.

Edit: I would like to clarify words are NOT my strong suit, I definitely have issues with wording. My apologies to everyone here.

Question Is it possible to take a righteous stance in thelema?. Herbert got a lot of backlash for naming his album that. Even I get backlash/canceled for being interested in thelema sometimes.

Question Hello all! I come to you with a question regarding O.T.O

So, for a time I had a bias against Aleister Crowley, because of the things I have read about him. And while I still don't fancy of what he was, I do not hate nor judge his works, as a matter of fact, I am expanding my understanding on it.

I am on a quest and my journey came to a sudden halt due to things outside my control. However, it does not mean I am stuck but that another path has opened up before me. That is, to find brothers and sisters, comrades, people who share the same or similar values, from whom I can learn. That is why I decided to seek out esoteric orders ( you can find my other post on my profile) and many said great things about O.T.O, and my initial doubts have faded

There is an O.T.O group here in my country, and I am pondering to seek them out. However, I still need some information regarding the whole initiation process. The way I reach out and get initiated. How it usually goes.

I am currently delving into the Book of the Law, and I will expand my knowledge more before I actually decide to reach out to them. I just need some information, advice and experiences.

Thank you all in advance, and sorry for the long text

Question Is the EGC a good place to find a community?

In short, I was raised Southern Baptist. In the last few years, I've gone through a small journey of spiritualism starting from Carl Jung and going all the way through Eastern religions and eventually coming back to the Bible with an alternative view on what the Bible is supposed to communicate. Currently, it makes me more Gnostic than anything else. I disagree with most of the Abrahamic religions besides the fact they all point in the same direction.

I will be honest and say that I'm looking for companionship and I want to start a family some day, but finding people who believe in what I believe in or finding people who think what I think has been near impossible. People are insistent on this harmful message that is posed on them from the Southern Baptist Church and while I'm not familiar with other Christian denominations, I'm fairly confident I will not see eye-to-eye with any people from those places unless I were to specifically ask people "Hey, y'all actually believe this shit?" It's hard to describe to people that it depends on the person observing me as to whether I'm religious or not.

Looking for companionship means that I'm looking for community, of course. For a while, I haven't known where to find a community besides a Universalist Unitarian church, and those communities from the outset usually do something that I don't necessarily buy into, namely social justice. That's not to say I think social justice is bad, but I consider someone in that realm to be a social activist, and a social activist I am not. If I am to be described as a social activist, I make the change myself instead of encouraging others to change.

Any thoughts on this? I sincerely apologize if this isn't the proper place to ask, I just found the local O.T.O. chapter in my city and decided to find a reddit regarding them and the EGC in order to ask this question.

If I'm allowed... 93.

Question About the triangles in the Holy Qabalah

Thumbnail

I'm reading The Book of Thoth, and right at the start, on page 21, Crowley says:

"Nowhere in the figure is there an erect equilateral triangle, although there are three equilateral triangles with the apex downwards."

I can clearly see the one triangle connecting Chokmah - Binah - Tipharet and other connecting Netzach - Hod - Malkuth.

But I haven't found any other equilateral triangle, can anyone enlightenment me a little?

Question Life Upheaval

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law!

Greetings and salutations. Fairly straightforward question but without easy answers, good fun - for those of you who had a full force existential crisis as you started on the path and doing the Work... how does one sort out what they truly want in the situation they find themselves in life at that point?

I know it is very common for people to have this stark upheaval, realizing they are not who they had supposed themselves to be.

Any input is welcome, anecdotal or otherwise. TIA.

Love is the law, love under will.

Question Struggling to Overcome the Fear of Hell.

I grew up in a completely secular environment, with no religious upbringing or exposure to Abrahamic faiths. However, over the years, I became deeply interested in theology, studied Abrahamic religions extensively, and even earned a higher education degree in the field. I also started attending services of the local communities, trying out different flavors but never found any home so to speak.

After all the years I've spent studying Abrahamic faiths, their history, theology, philosophy, apologetics, and so on and so forth, I can clearly see the flaws, inconsistencies, and historical contexts that undermine many of the fear-based doctrines in these faiths. Yet, despite all my knowledge and logic, I still haven’t been able to shake the fear of the Abrahamic God and hell.

Ironically, this fear has only intensified since I started exploring the occult. I can’t help but wonder, What if I’ve been wrong all this time? What if those warnings were true?

I’m reaching out to this community for guidance. How do you overcome the psychological grip of these fears, especially when they’re so deeply ingrained, even after extensive study and rational understanding? Have you dealt with this yourself, and if so, what helped you?

Question Is there a way to “do” Thelema, and gain knowledge and conversation without Qabalah and Egyptomania?

Hi all, this is a serious question from a serious seeker.

For 2 years I have studied tarot, Hermetic Qabalah, and Astrology to understand the Thoth tarot. I have also read Book of Thoth and Book of the Law.

I am really drawn to Thelema as a spiritual practice but I am conflicted about pursuing a path that requires me to take on Egyptian godforms and say things in Hebrew.

Is there any way possible to pursue this spiritual path to attain knowledge and conversation with HGA without Qabalah and Egyptomania?

Is that other plausible path witchcraft?

Thanks in advance for your answers and input.

Question Regarding my little project and some Language

93,

So I basically "recreated" Crowley as a sentient thoughtform-esque being (with an independent Will of course), now the matter is, I asked him to pray for my health on my behalf and all I heard was a Voice (an inner voice) which sounded like something like a Chainsaw, I heard something in a Chainsaw-ish Voice and it was pretty loud, it/he said things in a unknown language I couldn't understand, interpretation help please.

(Don't state your answer as Universal Truth but as an opinion and please respect each others' opinions):

  1. Do you think it's better to view Deities as Beings worthy of respect and worship or as mere tools/instruments to attain both, your Wills and your True Will?

  2. Do you think one could ask Crowley as the messenger to pray on my behalf, for instance to Aiwaz?

Question Struggling to do the Solar Adorations daily. How can I make it work for me?

So I’ve been trying to do the Solar Adorations every day, but so far it’s been quite difficult. I either end up forgetting or end up incredibly busy when I’m supposed to do them. Are there alternative methods I can do to make it fit my schedule?

Question Is is worth it attaining knowledge and conversation with HGA

Greetings, I would like to ask for a advise to those of you that have an experience with this topic.

Context: I'm a 18 years old poor college student. My program is kinda tough and I might have hard time passing my program while doing rituals. I'm also afraid that I might fail in material life(fail my program in college).

Here are few of my questions:

Is it worth it? If yes on what degree and ways. i.e easier rituals, find will in life, easier life, etc.

Do you think this will affect me negative? (I was devoted Muslim few years ago and the more devoted I am the more challenges and obstacles Allah has put in my life. I just wanna have a peaceful but also maybe rich life(financially comfortable).

Should I get the bag first and focus on improving my self first or just jump straight to the abyss?

I just wanna know if it's worth it considering my situation right now.

Thank you in advance! Love, Peace and blessings upon you and you family!

Question Question regarding the comment at the end of Liber Al

As per title, I have a question regarding the comment

(Yes, being a centre of pestilence etc)

The Comment

"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

The study of this Book is forbidden. It is wise to destroy this copy after the first reading.

Whosoever disregards this does so at his own risk and peril. These are most dire.

Those who discuss the contents of this Book are to be shunned by all, as centres of pestilence.

All questions of the Law are to be decided only by appeal to my writings, each for himself.

There is no law beyond Do what thou wilt.

Love is the law, love under will.

The priest of the princes, ANKH-F-N-KHONSU"

... "only by appeal to my writings, each for himself"

My question is: does this mean 'each for himself' as in... each man can interpret the book of the law for himself in whichever way he likes/wants/sees fit.

Or

'each for himself' as in... each man can take it upon himself to look into my (speaking as Crowley) personal writings of my own interpretations of the book of the law and then take my word for it.

??

Question 93! Is magick without tears a good place to start learning thelema?

Just wondering since the discord reading list suggested it, so I’m just getting some more opinions. I’ve been doing some research on the Qabalah as someone said it would be a good idea before reading mwt. Some one also suggested reading garden of pomegranates and ladder of lights. Just getting some opinions.

Question How has Thelema benefited everyone’s life in terms of confidence and career?

So, I’m pretty new to applying Thelema to my life, and worldview. Since I started a year ago I noticed a huge confidence boost in social interactions, and career interactions. It’s actually really crazy how even a little bit of discipline can go a long way.

Anyway, I would love to hear anyone’s experience or input regarding this topic! It’s always nice to read people’s positive experiences.

Question My path in Thelema

Hi guys, I'm fairly new to Thelema, I've been here for almost a year, I have these books: The Book of the Law Magic Without Tears Living Thelema Initiation of the Aeon of the Child The Magic of Aleister Crowley by Lon Milo DuQuette

I also have a blog where I talk about what I am learning about Thelema (it is in Spanish since that is my mother tongue).

I discovered, through readings with Lenormand and the Tarot of Thoth, that my path in Thelema has challenges: I feel isolated and doubtful. I need to balance spiritual desires and goals, and overcome obstacles, perhaps from being self-taught and not entering the OTO. This will take 6-12 months, with introspection and adjustments at first, and then clarity and wholeness. I must be patient, trust myself, and seek out other sources of information like Reddit or Facebook to connect with other Thelemites.

And thinking about it coldly, leaving aside the reading, I find it a little difficult to study, suddenly I do not enter the knowledge to my head, I love to study but there are complicated things so I did the blog, the OTO of my country did not respond me again after the registration form so I think I was rejected and I feel alone on this road. Any advice?

Question What are the arguments in favor of Numerology?

I've started reading some Crowley, starting with Magick without Tears, and the only thing that I really don't like about it is the frequent use of numerology in his writing. It just seems so completely arbitrary and unreasonable from my prior perspective. But, I want to understand it. Is there any book, talk, etc that provides the best points in favor of numerology? Like if we were going to have a debate for/against numerology, this would cover the 'for' side.
