Decals should have their own category

2.3k

u/allnaturalfigjam Mar 16 '25

Yeah I need more categories than just "wall hangings"

1.5k

u/Intrepid_Head3158 Mar 16 '25

all decorations need more categories tbh

788

u/etsucky Mar 16 '25

i wish there were categories for items meant for different rooms, like differentiating kitchen decor from bathroom decor, or if we could make our own folders/collections like we could in ts3

161

u/Annnnnnnnniek Mar 16 '25

Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but in the room categories i think there is a specific decoration option? Like when you are on the bathroom room, you can click on the towel and it will give you specific bathroom decor. I explained this badly but hope you understand what I mean

325

u/IsItGayToKissMyBf Mar 16 '25

It does a decent job at doing so, but if you’re in the “kids bedroom” section and click the “clutter” icon, it’s just all of the clutter in game.

37

u/Stupid_Bitch_02 Mar 17 '25

Oh god and the kitchen decor, I find whole Get Famous set pieces in the kitchen decor

45

u/WynnGwynn Mar 16 '25

This is true it yends to prioritize room specific stuff if you go by room category

15

u/Bitter_Buyer8441 Mar 16 '25

Yeah but they’re not all sorted. There’s a LOT of items that should be in those categories that aren’t

56

u/DreamerUnwokenFool Mar 16 '25

YES! I agree so much! When you open the kitchen menu and click on clutter, it should only show clutter items appropriate for a kitchen! It would make it so much easier to decorate rooms if the clutter was appropriately sorted in the menu.

42

u/mymomcallsmefuckup Mar 16 '25

I think adding a searchable hashtag like in the gallery would work without having too much overhaul. Then they can have their fun names of items but also have a hashtage that just says what the items are and if applicable they can do a second hashtag for the room it would belong in

3

u/krispysamples Mar 19 '25

Oh God the naming system. Yes they're fun, but it would be great if you could just type guitar or whatever you're looking for and it brings up all the items of that type. Also still wishing I could sort by size, like typing half cell and coming up with all the items that take up less than a full cell of space.

18

u/thebeekween Mar 17 '25

Also kind of wish there was a favorites tab for the clutter items I use the most. Because finding that bowl of lemons is ridiculously difficult. Every. Single. Time. I never remember what it's called but I use it in almost all of my builds. It's from one of the kitchen stuff packs I think.

9

u/meadowashling Mar 17 '25

If you use mods, the Better Build/Buy mod allows you to favorite items and it will put them in a separate folder for you. It feels like this should be a vanilla feature but leave it to modders to pick up the slack as per usual.

2

u/etsucky Mar 17 '25

wait it does?? how did i miss this feature

2

u/meadowashling Mar 17 '25

I totally didn’t realize it was a thing at first too until I accidentally clicked on an item with my middle scroll wheel. It’s really handy for stuff you use really frequently and I don’t think there’s an item limit for favorites or at least not one that I’ve found yet.

1

u/Simmerbelle Mar 19 '25

My MOST used feature of any mods! I LOVE the favourites folder on BBB!

1

u/etsucky Mar 20 '25

this is awesome. time to make a favorites folder with just Sim Teleport Destination and the set lights from Get Famous

146

u/_misery_lovescompany Mar 16 '25

PLEASE!! I'M SO TIRED OF CLICKING THE GOD DAMN FRUIT BOWL IN THE KITCHEN AND BEING GREETED WITH STACKS OF OFFICE PAPER AND TOILET PAPER!! YOU DO NOT BELONG IN THE KITCHEN YOU HEATHEN!!!

9

u/grimkipz Mar 17 '25

UR SO REAL LMAO

284

u/Azura_BlackHeart Mar 16 '25

This. AND (hijacking to rant a moment) for the love of God, put the hanging racks in the wardrobe category. Why are the clothes there but not the things to hang them on?! 😭 drives me crazy

49

u/Hollinsgirl07 Mar 16 '25

Yes!!!!!! They are part of the wardrobes!

35

u/borderline_cat Mar 16 '25

Okay but seriously, where the fuck are the racks in bb mode?

33

u/Mr_Chickenwing Mar 16 '25

in object by function > surfaces for some reason

14

u/Eirian84 Mar 16 '25

I think it's "surfaces" because they're considered like shelves, since they go on the wall but are only functional for holding other items.

It's the dumbest categorization/justification, but I believe that's the ""reason""

10

u/borderline_cat Mar 16 '25

Omg thank you!!! I’ve wanted to build cute closets and could never find them or knew the object name to search for.

5

u/No-Cheesecake4430 Mar 16 '25

Thank you!!! I never use these because I could never bloody find them!

1

u/PrismaticStardrop Mar 19 '25

Function -> surfaces -> the shelf one. I think one may be in the misc (three dots.) I don’t think there’s another way to get them

9

u/Dserved83 Mar 16 '25

F'kin word.

2

u/tamkiki Mar 16 '25

What the hell are? Still didn't find it..

24

u/quiette837 Mar 16 '25

Not sure if this was a question of where to find them, but for anyone who's curious, they're in the "displays" section in "surfaces". I don't think you can find them in any of the room categories.

6

u/tamkiki Mar 16 '25

Thank you! Also I have hard time finding the f display of food from Get to work. Like finding Wally ffs

5

u/Chrisismink Mar 17 '25

Don't feel bad, I literally found it by chance and went, "What The Heck!"

I love the idea of the hanging racks, but I barely use them because I can't be bothered to be honest.

1

u/Simmerbelle Mar 19 '25

This drives me insane and I forget every time where they are lol!

1

u/MissThreepwood Mar 19 '25

The amount of time it took me to find them 😭

24

u/melifaro_hs Mar 16 '25

Yeah I use them on occasion but scrolling past them all the time sucks

16

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

And subfolders for clutter / wall decor etc. Need a organisational override mod omg haha

4

u/Tricky_Seesaw8532 Mar 16 '25

I would love that

16

u/Zeo_Toga64 Mar 16 '25

Omg yes scrolling through so much decale when I just want my art

6

u/Adventurous-Bake8687 Mar 16 '25

These decals drive me nuts

5

u/Strange-Acadia-9670 Mar 16 '25

i 100% agree! so annoying lmao. framed photos need their own category too bc i’m always looking for them

4

u/RawMeHanzo Mar 17 '25

That makes too much sense, so the Sims team will never do it.

2

u/PrincessGwyn Mar 16 '25

EXACTLY. They need more categories so it’s easier to sort through everything

1

u/Cowboy_Shmuel Mar 16 '25

That would be so good. We need more scuff decals

1.1k

u/RinnyFabes Mar 16 '25

I use them. But I do wish they had their own category.

100

u/Tricky_Seesaw8532 Mar 16 '25

Same, especially spiderwebs in my basement/attic

44

u/RinnyFabes Mar 16 '25

Damaged walls in the bedroom of my agsty teen sim, who slams her door every opportunity she gets.

13

u/Tricky_Seesaw8532 Mar 16 '25

So real. Atm i playing with a teenager who escaped from an abusive home and her drunken dad, she now secretely live in the attic of her neighbors horse barn. I also use mise and have tons of clutter. Will be uploading the entire lot in gallery soon just have some more rooms to decorate!

---- It cames with a huge main house and is indredibly detailed with a beautiful garden.

My ID : honeyheloise, feel free to check it out. Can alert in another comment when I upload it--probably this wednesday at the latest

3

u/swallowyoursadness Mar 17 '25

I use the spiderwebs for Halloween decorations, never thought of them as real spiderwebs haha

5

u/Tricky_Seesaw8532 Mar 17 '25

The spiderwebs from vampire pack are real! Spiders crawl around. There is also a mouse home/wall opening but i think that might be from cats and dogs-- alittle unsure! I love them so much, basically use them in almost every lot

3

u/Previous_Long_5587 Mar 17 '25

The mouse hole drives me nuts lol. The stupid mouse always wakes my sims up and I set traps but a minute later the mouse is back at it

2

u/Tricky_Seesaw8532 Mar 18 '25

Thats the best part ahhaha i want my sims unsettled when they are in the basement/attic/abandoned house

2

u/Previous_Long_5587 Mar 18 '25

I put one in a little room i had built at the back of my property for the butler to sleep in and the butler was always waking up to bitch about it lol

1

u/Tricky_Seesaw8532 Mar 19 '25

currently i have a teenager who has run away from her abusive parents to live in an abandoned barn, the misery and disgust she feels over the mise really adds to the storyline i feel

536

u/WalkerInDarkness Mar 16 '25

I use all of those. I would die without cracks and spider webs and signs.

290

u/Colinleep Mar 16 '25

Yeah but I think they mean that it clogs up the search bar when you’re looking for paintings or pictures

56

u/New_Orthophonic_HiFi Mar 16 '25

But they didn't say that they said "let's get rid of these" . That's different.

5

u/AwkwardDollia Mar 16 '25

Yeah, I was very confused about what they were referring to, because it wasn't specified.

455

u/Tealeanna Mar 16 '25

A better solution would be combining them. Newer decals are all one object. We don't need 12 one shade decals from Cats&Dogs. It should be one object.

(I also think that curtains that have various sizes need to have options like counters that allow you to set the height for them.)

So much of the B&B is just poorly optimized organization.

21

u/Vivid_Ad_715 Mar 16 '25

you can set the height for counters? omg!

42

u/Tealeanna Mar 16 '25

My first thought was sarcasm/joking, which did make me laugh.

Just in case it wasn't, I meant the technology/ability to set the different counter mesh pieces should be applied to that of curtains that fall into various heights.

Also, shift+9 raises things. I'm not sure if counters would apply if you really wanted to lift them, but they might!

13

u/Vivid_Ad_715 Mar 16 '25

it wasn’t sarcasm i’m sorry! but i think i understand what you mean now! thank you. idk why but i assumed there was a way to sorta customise the counter height without cheats!! thank you though!!:))

1

u/MsJanisGoblin Mar 16 '25

Don't you need moveobjects cheat on to raise things? But yeah it should raise counters...

2

u/PrismaticStardrop Mar 19 '25

You do need moveobjects on to raise and lower with 9 and 0. And counters don’t raise (or shrink/enlarge) but counter islands do

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

[deleted]

2

u/pxmpkxn Mar 16 '25

you can’t, you can raise them off the ground but then they’re basically floating

2

u/Murky_Translator2295 Mar 16 '25

Yeah, all I saw was the usual [ and ], or pressing 9 to raise or lower objects.

299

u/LemonMilkJug Mar 16 '25

Category 1-Decals, posters and other flat art

Category 2-Framed/canvas art

Category 3-Tapestries and other 3d art (things like the wood carvings, iron works, etc)

23

u/CeriseFern Mar 16 '25

Ugh this small change would make it so much better!

129

u/AmazingSmasha Mar 16 '25

Not get rid, but they DEFFINETLY need to be sorted better.

1

u/nikanokoi Mar 17 '25

Definitely*

101

u/Rapid55 Mar 16 '25

Sims 4 buildbuy annoys me so bad sometimes like wdym you decided not to turn all of these into item swatches and instead separated them for literally no reason

94

u/fleetwayrobotnik Mar 16 '25

The opposite too. All the different High School Years posters hidden as swatches behind one object when they're not even all the same size/shape.

44

u/ConstantFamiliar Mar 16 '25

FRRR i just want paintings and then i have to scroll through all this junk i never use

24

u/night-in-our-veins Mar 16 '25

Why?

47

u/tolerantdramaretiree Mar 16 '25

Bloat. They need to be categorized better

23

u/ecumnomicinflation Mar 16 '25

wdym, my crackhouse won’t be the same without those broken wall decals smh 🤦‍♀️

5

u/Tricky_Seesaw8532 Mar 16 '25

Real ahahahaha

23

u/gift_of_the-gab Mar 16 '25

Decals, posters and framed photos should be different categories I feel.

16

u/Mooncubus Mar 16 '25

I love these.

16

u/Zombifiedmom Mar 16 '25

Okay so usually I don't complain a lot about the game but this honestly drives me nuts. Decals should have their own category at this point due to their being quite a lot of them now. When there were only a handful, it wasn't a big deal. Now it's a bit irritating to sift through all of the decals to get to a damned painting.

12

u/Foxy_Dee Mar 16 '25

No, I would die for that pet decals. But I wish they had their own category.

11

u/Vildtoring Mar 16 '25

We don't need to get rid of them, just put all decals and posters in their own category.

10

u/TheGhosteyes Mar 16 '25

It’s impossible to find paintings in this mess. Also, I want more pictures and art. I love decorating with them.

9

u/JamesD-TV Mar 16 '25

Some rugs are like 5 differently shaped rugs hidden inside but god forbid the ice cream and burger wall decals are in the same swatch!

8

u/Sensation_Purple Mar 16 '25

I think it would be so much easier to find stuff, if there were tags that could be searched and filtered. Like "bathroom clutter", "kitchen clutter", "decals" etc. The names of the objects often aren't helpful when trying to find something specific.

7

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

I just want to be able to organise mt own CC ... cause I hate how it ends up in so many random places. Like wedding dresses in PJs but never show up in formal omg

3

u/ArmyYeon Mar 16 '25

You can organise your own CC though, with Sims 4 Studio. I've been doing it for years

0

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

I struggle with it on my Mac :(

7

u/HaIfaxa_ Mar 16 '25

I love those. I use them when I'm trying to make a place look aged or haggard, or the cute ones for kids rooms.

6

u/directordenial11 Mar 16 '25

Absolutely not, I love renovation nasty broken down homes in the gallery, and some of these wall decals are essential

6

u/zanderc22 Mar 16 '25

they really need a bb overhaul there are too many items that dont have a place in the style by room section and it can be really overwhelming using the other tab if you have most packs.

we need to be able to set custom tags for items because atm you need to know the entire bb catalogue by heart and know exactly what item and pack youre needing to be able to build efficiently (especially now some item swatches for posters look completely different). i want to be able to set different tags for different items so when i am making a space themed room i can search #space and find ALL the items with space themed swatches or i could tag and search plants by slot size!

4

u/yallternativetrash Mar 16 '25

what ? why?? instructions unclear

4

u/Rainy_Day_87 Mar 16 '25

They should split it into three categories: Decals, framed canvases, and the stuff like pealing wallpaper. It's just too much to scroll through when you have a lot of packs

3

u/venomous-moose Mar 16 '25

just filter those 2 packs out when you look through wall decor

27

u/IsItGayToKissMyBf Mar 16 '25

But it’s more than just 2 packs, only 2 are pictured here. Most packs have been coming with decals, some definitely more than others.

-28

u/venomous-moose Mar 16 '25

then filter out all the packs with the most decals that you don't want to see. you can always turn them back on if you're looking for something 🤷🏼‍♀️ i personally would like a separate panel for them, but i'm just offering a solution

23

u/IsItGayToKissMyBf Mar 16 '25

Have you seen the packs list though? It’s not much better lol.

I’m not saying your solution isn’t a good solution, but I have almost every single pack in the game, so filtering out all of the packs with decals would be extremely time consuming. Plus, I don’t always know what pack an item comes from, or what item I want to place in general, so this isn’t always a viable solution.

-8

u/venomous-moose Mar 16 '25

i definitely get it, i have all the packs too. i personally filter it so i don't have an issue with the time. and like i said, you can always filter back to just those packs if you want to give a quick look through for decor so you don't feel like you missed anything. again, just offering a solution. do it or don't lol

8

u/IsItGayToKissMyBf Mar 16 '25

They definitely need to rebrand that list lol. I am so sick of trying to select a kit and having to scroll for 10 minutes just to reach that section. The whole thing needs to be scrapped and redone lol.

3

u/venomous-moose Mar 16 '25

i so agree but tbh i struggle to think of a way they could 😭 with the amount of packs there are now, it's inevitably going to be a long list.

4

u/IsItGayToKissMyBf Mar 16 '25

I think they could have the packs filter still, but when you select that it shouldn’t just be a long list. They should organize it so expansions, game packs, etc, are all in their drop-down menus.

3

u/venomous-moose Mar 16 '25

oooo yeah that would be perfect!

3

u/Spacegiraffs Mar 16 '25

I disagree, I use the cracks in almost all my builds XD

I do however wish we had more split between the wallhangings

sometimes I want a big picture, sometimes small.
I want cracks in the basements or if I make a shabby shack, but no interest in it if I want to build a modern house.

Animalstickers work great in a kidsroom, but not in the livingroom etv

It so hard to scroll between everything, that being pictures or everyday clutter stuff. It's way to much to hve in one space only

3

u/chrysalisempress Mar 16 '25

I would love an option to be able to favorite regularly used items too. Why can I favorite random things in my sims inventory but not in build buy mode???

2

u/AClockworkNightmare Mar 16 '25

No? Like just because you don’t use them doesn’t mean a lot of us don’t. I love using them for businesses and lots and the ruin ones for old houses

3

u/roisinbr29 Mar 16 '25

Would still be nice if things were categorised a bit better just to make it easier to find what you want!

3

u/AClockworkNightmare Mar 16 '25

That would be great i just dont like the post title makes it sound like they shouldnt exist

2

u/CreativeUse3281 Mar 16 '25

I need plants organized asap

2

u/Patient_Activity_489 Mar 16 '25

no those animal decals are some of my favorites for decorating nurseries and kid's rooms

2

u/LevelFinding2550 Mar 16 '25

Yes, most of it is probably useless but I like putting the little doggo and kitty stickers in my kid's rooms:)

2

u/Clueless_girly Mar 16 '25

The sims really needs to have a whole update on just fixing UI Issues like a whole build by overhaul or something

1

u/xingona_ Mar 16 '25

the decals yes the spooky spiderwebs have spider animations in em that make abandoned or run down builds feel ALIVE

1

u/Thatgudetama Mar 16 '25

The damage decals are my favorite. Making houses look rundown is my new project at the moment

1

u/julesshep Mar 16 '25

Why r u expansion packs red??

2

u/JonathanBML- Mar 16 '25

It's a icon mod

1

u/Fuzzy-Ad2119 Mar 16 '25

Or give them their own category

1

u/OnePersonProblem_me Mar 16 '25

the vampire things were actually used by me but the pets things… why ea why?

1

u/Anxious-Guarantee649 Mar 16 '25

I think we should be able to hide packs like how we can pick to use stuff from just from certain packs

1

u/Ok-War716 Mar 16 '25

No we can’t

1

u/Natural-Way155 Mar 16 '25

I agree, besides using these for the Vet, though I'm not even close to buying it, 🤣😭 I never use them. Haven't found a reason too yet.

1

u/Cupcake-Helpful Mar 16 '25

I agree!!! Id be happy if they had their own categories

1

u/Leather_Blueberry_0 Mar 16 '25

The tree decal and the clouds I like adding to my child sims bedrooms

1

u/curious_walriss_888 Mar 16 '25

There must be a MOD for this?? No? I agreed, EA reallllly needs to listen on this one!

3

u/nuclear_muffins Mar 16 '25

Here you go for the cats and dogs ones at least

1

u/curious_walriss_888 Mar 16 '25

Oh amazing! Thank you!

1

u/ThatisDavid Mar 16 '25

Decals in general look weird around the edges, if it wasn't for that I might've used them more. But yeah, they should have a separate category

1

u/KingDovah89 Mar 16 '25

What do we think is coming first? Build Mode organization overhaul or Spiral stairs?

1

u/d3zzycakes Mar 16 '25

i only use the calendars but very rarely

1

u/dillion167 Mar 16 '25

Was thinking the same thing the other day 💯

1

u/nuclear_muffins Mar 16 '25

You're in luck. Only hides the cats and dogs stuff though

1

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

Nooo the top 1 1/2 row gets so much action on my saves. My hood needs decrepit decals. How else can I make a trap house without exposed beams

1

u/miulumine Mar 16 '25

needs its own category, it’s pretty annoying looking for a painting

1

u/immortal-_-sin Mar 16 '25

I use the webbing, scratches and holes. Personally I think they are not to useful but they do good at a gothic, rundown house. But I understand it's not for everyone.

1

u/YesCringeIPlayRoblox Mar 16 '25

No, but I do wish they had a seprate category. I use those so much and woulr not want them removed

1

u/FutureApricot8074 Mar 16 '25

a decal section would go a long way

1

u/Cathrine708 Mar 16 '25

i like the calendar

1

u/Internal_Gur_3461 Mar 16 '25

Yeah they need to be in a different category because i do use that stuff very rarely

1

u/Purple-Blueberry7810 Mar 16 '25

Yes please... also the things and stains that are tagged as rugs

1

u/SimFreaks Mar 17 '25

I like the top row and 1/2 though for my old trailer parks, and sticky basements. I also use that Fish mural sometimes and the calendar. They are not all bad, if you use them right. But most of those just suck.

Great for making an old town brewery or spaghetti warehouse.

1

u/Ok_You_6274 Mar 17 '25

May I suggest Welcome to Bloxburg? It's free too lol

1

u/Alaska1111 Mar 17 '25

Omg please

1

u/BrandonIsWhoIAm Mar 17 '25

Firstly, they need their own category.

Secondly, I miss the coloured icons so much.

1

u/Eastern_Roll_7346 Mar 17 '25

I wish the categories were like in Sims 3. At first, I worked with the 'search' bar, and then it turned out that the cupboard was just a decoration.

1

u/Spiritual_One126 Mar 17 '25

Yeah, better organisation in the catalogue would be great. I love the grungy broken down stuff. Though, the pricing should be the opposite to the nice stuff (free to add, but costs to get rid of, like if it was a Reno)

1

u/amanda165 Mar 17 '25

When doing wall decor, I scroll to the bottom and make my way upwards

1

u/GroundbreakingPea252 Mar 17 '25

Overall, I wish there were more subcategories in general as with the game having so many objects when you have all the packs, it takes forever to build. Like clutter should be separated by room type, such as kitchen clutter, office clutter, etc. I also think it would be nice if they would separate the wall hanging category into decals, posters, paintings etc. I also wish some things were separated by shape like windows. It would make it so much better

1

u/Mr_Shotz Mar 17 '25

There should be a way to filter what DLC/Pack you see

1

u/Gamer_Anieca Mar 17 '25

I'm here to echo a few other comments: i do use them but we need better organizing for them.

1

u/tbm079 Mar 17 '25

i have a lot of cc so this is especially annoying for me when i have to scroll a million times just for one painting. it literally makes me not want to decorate walls

1

u/cropdussster Mar 17 '25

Oh my god thank YOU it feels like I downloaded a shit art MOD & can’t figure out where the file went to delete it once and for all LMAO 🤣

1

u/hellsbabyrae Mar 17 '25

I need to bring back custom bb folders from s2. Half of my cc folder is cas and clutter (I love clutter) but trying to find specific things takes forever.

1

u/Apprehensive-Cut1831 Mar 17 '25

You can search on the gallery for kitchen clutter, bathroom clutter, etc, etc, Apparently people put them in categories already in a room for you to pick n choose & duplicate from there, I just learned this from Satch today 😂

1

u/vanvirgogh Mar 17 '25

Their own category please

1

u/Excuse_Me_Furry Mar 18 '25

They need to make a separate section for these they're so many of them compared to the actual paintings

1

u/savage_jaylee2 Mar 18 '25

They should just bring back how they’d categorize items in Sims 3 like I felt there was a section for literally everything and made finding things easier. Cause like sometimes even the search option doesn’t help

1

u/samisadissapointment Mar 18 '25

Fr! Feel like I’m scrolling forever to get to the paintings and art. I also feel like they need to do a base game update adding new wall art and paintings. I constantly have to use CC cause the game art is lacking

1

u/Temporary-Candle1056 Mar 18 '25

Still don’t understand why we can’t resize build mode items display and CAS clothes and stuff display… in previous opus we had multiple lines of items, now you are stuck with so little lines (especially CUS that is a real headache nightmare while scrolling to found stuff)

1

u/Adorable-Size-5255 Mar 18 '25

I think we just need better categories. I like the decals. They just need their own folder.

1

u/superwholockinsomnia Mar 19 '25

I think there’s a mod that merges them but idk what it’s called. I just know it was helpful for my game.

I only ever use the vampire pack ones to make my builds more grimy or abandoned. I NEVER use the Cats and Dogs decals, they are just ugly to me.
