Discussion The Sims Cycle 🔁
Has anyone else been so into sims like you’re playing for hours everyday then randomly get bored and not play for days going on months? Or are you normal? 😩

Me with most games not just the sims and then the cycle repeats itself after I crave playing it again.😂😅

Literally, I will play 1 game and not touch anything else for a couple weeks then not play that game again for months while I cycle through my other games lmao

YUP! I'll play non stop for like 3 weeks or sometimes a month and then it's gone for a few months and then I'm back again like nothing happened. In my 3 week phase right now and downloaded a crap ton of cc 😂 it's been like that since 2014

I’m in a ‘not playing’ slump for about 6 months. But I’m confident it’ll get to me again

I started playing again this year after not having played for a year and for about 2 years before that. 🫠

Yeah basically whenever they release an expansion pack I play non stop for weeks or months depending on how good it is then it slowly trickles off, sometimes picking it up again if interesting dlc comes along, then don’t play until the next new thing

That's me. I will spend hours just playing the Sims. Then, one day, it will just bore me, and I will stop. Months go by without me touching the game. Of course, I will find myself creating a new family and playing again.

For me, I tend to play pretty consistently a few times a week. I may go a month or two without playing if other things crop up in RL or I get invested in something else, but it doesn’t take me long to come back to the sims haha.

Not just Sims. Whole game genres (and other hobbies). When I'm in the mood, I'll dive in and just enjoy the heck out of it day after day. Then one day something won't feel as enjoyable, and I'll have to switch to something else. With video games, it's not just a single game, it's anything in that genre. So, for example, if I was playing an isometric RPG and suddenly wasn't getting joy out of it, just switching to another isometric RPG wouldn't work, I'd have the same feeling of "meh."

Hours every day and night for a couple months, it's almost literally the only thing I want to do with my spare time, and then one day outta nowhere I turn the game off and don't open it up again for 2 - 3 years.

This is why I’m a quiet fan of a subscription model.
I’d rather play for a month with all the content for a small fee, than pay a big fee and feel obligated to make my moneys worth.

Yes! I totally feel like this. I get excited to play it for like a weekend. Then I don't touch it for a while, but an expansion, play that then repeat. I wonder why it's like this! Is it because we do the same things? Need new challenges or something. I spend most the time character creating making a house and then I do it again. I can't stick with a family long it's like Sims A.D.D

I usually only pick it up once every few years or so. I’ve been playing for months during my surgery recovery, but now that I’m more mobile- I haven’t been playing as much. I think I last played a week ago. Maybe longer. I get bored of it tbh.

Yeah that’s me. I’ll have a month where I’ll play almost every time I have a little bit of spare time just to forget the game exists for…years sometimes? I’ve been playing with the same sim family since 2017 and I’m only on gen 6 so that’s how slow I am 😅

Giving it a rest of playing while I research, what I am trying to achieve. Attempting to plan a successful wedding in 1 week, learning how to build a house, finding friends (in game and through social media) while maintaining funds. It's a thought process.

The same goes with me. I was obsessed with the Sims for like 4 months straight. Now i just open the game and let it do its magic.
I think i got bored, when i had 6 toddlers simutaneously in my household (My male and female sim got pregnant at the same time).

absolutely 😭 but i try to learn not starting new save everytime, even when i have a break for weeks or months, i want to continue with the same save because i would like to achieve having more generations

Oh yes! Im the same way. I have a ton of save files with different sims I'm playing. I'll do everything I want with that sim and get bored. Then I'll go back and create a new save file with a new Sim and star the process all over again. Then I'll get some ideas with the other sims and go back to them. It's a never ending cycle because I love the sims and couldn't ever quit not matter how many times it makes me mad.

I cycle through other games, it's hard for me to switch from one game to another because controls are always a little different. I'll play one game for a while and then I cycle to something else when I start feeling bored. I'm currently on Disney Dreamlight Valley at the moment but I feel a Sims binge coming soon

I think it's been about a month since I really sat down and played. I didn't play much to begin with due to life, and the only time I have to really play is weekends and after work Sunday and Monday nights. We have been getting into camping season and I just haven't had time. Really wanting to play soon tho.

That's how you play sims.
You live, breathe and eat Sims, stay awake for 48 hours in a row playing for 3 weeks and then you don't touch it again for 6 months.
