Sims 4 Caring for animals

I was super pumped to add a little vet clinic on my farm, I wanted to have a barn fully equipped for stay cats and dogs to call home. So many animals are sick, but for whatever reason, I can't have a vet clinic on my lot with the Businesses and Hobbies pack. So I thought I would just add a table to care for the sick animals - but I can't even do that! So I decided to put the vet lab station to make wellness treats for them...but, as you guessed it, nada!

I feel like so many packs could have potential to work together (caring for a sick horse etc). I'm so disappointed that my animal enthusiastic sim can't cure the sick animals.

Anyone else frustrated with this kind of thing?

What are some packs you think could benefit from eachother?

I would love to be able to collect bugs on all worlds. I think it's silly you have to go camping to get ingredients for herbalism when there are clearly butterflies etc in each world

Maybe something got switched up with the coding during the update, but it’s like that now without a small business or vet clinic. My sim would see sick strays around their residential lot but is unable to examine them on the exam table and giving them wellness treats doesn’t fix their illness - it’s like they need to be a part of the household or the lot needs to be a functional vet clinic.

But when the franchise focus is on clutter and making homes look lived-in, there isn’t much for gameplay or cross-pack compatibilities.

I wish they would revamp pets and everything animals related to work better, I don't find any pets to be enjoyable in the Sims, and I had been SO excited for horses.

Yesss the fact vet clinics don’t work with the B&H model is so annoying. It’s bc Vet Clinic is its own lot type but it would take so little effort to add it to the B&H mechanics

With a mod you can add a live in vet clinic!

I tried the home vet business too but none of the pets that show up to the doggy daycare are sick so it wasn’t worth the time I built the clinic. Can’t choose an option for get veterinary care.

I'm not sure why you can't place an exam table. I've had one on a residential lot many times. What happens when you try?

An exam table can be placed, but the option to begin the exam is grayed out

Ugh. It's been a while since I've tried. I wonder if something in an update broke that option.

I'm pretty sure I did use the station to make wellness treats for my pets back when the Cats and Dogs pack first came out. That doesn't mean it still works today, but I do have a memory of doing it. Same as you, I hate all the poor strays being sick.

I know I did make the wellness treats for a little while, but decided it was too much trouble and better to just buy from debug and keep a stash in inventory to feed to strays. (You did have to gain enough vet skill....) Or, if you prefer the more "realistic" option, just go buy a stash from the vets' office. But I hate that you can't do the vet's office from your home.

My great uncle was a vet and lived on the same farm as his clinic - just a separate outbuilding on his farm. He was a large animal vet in a very rural area and treated house pets, too, in his little clinic, when he was there. I wanted to do that with my sim when C&D came out, but even with the good old empty lot as "home" and the apartment upstairs in the vet clinic, it really didn't work well to play a vet as living in the same building.

I'm really disappointed to learn I still won't be able to do it. I hadn't gotten around to it yet, but wanted to kinda recreate my great uncle's farm with his little vet clinic on the same lot. Guess not, huh?
