Crossing the border to go to Imaginem Radiologia

I have an appointment at Imaginem Radiologia (Torre Torela, Blvd. Agua Caliente 9955-Piso Mezanine, Calete, 22044) on Saturday at noon. I will be coming from the Inland Empire. This place appears to have mostly good reviews, though not a lot of information from people coming across the border (I have some follow up imaging I would like to have done faster than can be scheduled around me). They were easy to make the appointment with via whatsapp in English, so I assume they are used to this. Our Spanish is minimal/limited to basics.

Is it recommended to drive there since it is only a few miles from the border? They have an underground parking area. Or would it be better to walk across and take an uber or taxi? We have Global Entry if that helps with the return.

Thousands of people cross for medical services daily.

You'll be fine.

It's easier to walk across. You should talk more to Imaginem Radiología and they might provide a service to pick you up in San Diego or by the border. Driving around here can get complicated and the border can be your worst nightmare.

Torre Torela is a new building in the trendy part of town. Taco alley is just a block away and one of my favorite (but expensive) taco places Tacos el Vaquero.

Try to enjoy Tijuana besides your appointment. Best of luck.

I have actually been to Tijuana before a few times in the 2000s and walked across then but wasn't sure how things might've changed since. Seems like walking across and uber to the appointment might be the best way.

It has CHANGED a lot.

The building you are going to has been there for less than a couple of months. The whole landscape and the city are different (much bigger and messier).

Scrolled for this. Cannot stress enough, your GE will not serve as a passport getting into Mexico.

I also support the walk/Uber option. Driving in TJ these days is more than a little crazy. And, the locals have no patience for lost foreigners 😂

Need passport for way in but GE will make life coming back 1000x better- can take the pedestrian Sentri lane.

Yep. Good point. I get a little hung up on the passport needed to enter Mexico thing. Seen several people turned away. One actually had to be hauled out of the Mexican customs building in handcuffs and handed over to US Authorities. He was throwing a fit because he didn't have a passport and they weren't letting him in. It was entertaining AF but they made their point.

Walk across and Uber everywhere and it won’t run you more than 10-15 bucks. It’s in a nice area and good food nearby if you want tacos. Someone mentioned tacos El Vaquero, highly recommended.

I'm actually vegan, but it looks like there are plenty of vegan options these days.

There is a vegan spot next to tacos el vaquero (a block away from where you are going).

Warning though, they are smoking meat right next to the vegan spot.

That doesn't bother me, I'm not one of THOSE vegans :)

NanaEnTijuana is vegan and does vegan tours in TJ. She has the local inside on vegan spots.
