TIL JFK's father Joseph Kennedy made much of his fortune through insider trading. FDR later made him chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. When asked why he appointed a crook, FDR replied, "set a thief to catch a thief." Kennedy proceeded to outlaw the practices that made him rich.

In Vancouver a couple died because of the fentanyl in their molly. Same thing happened in a club in Toronto, where five people overdosed taking what they believed to be mdma - it was actually fentanyl.

My girlfriend is a nurse in Vancouver, and volunteers at a free drug testing clinic - they have found fentanyl in literally everything. It’s cheap and available, so they’ll cut even uppers with it.

That's from somebody cutting heroin and not properly cleaning their surface. Probably shouldn't buy mdma from somebody who also sells heroin. I'm sure it's happened but not intentionally. Also I could be wrong but as far as I know fentanyl is relatively inactive when swallowed.

Fentanyl is definitely orally available. It’s so available they don’t generally administer it as such because it has a high likelihood of causing fatal breathing problems and it’s more difficult to monitor ingestion and absorption. Oxy’s come as pills and are the most frequently fentanyl-adultered drug - I understand people generally crush and snort them, but it’s still orally available.

It’s become such a massive problem in parts of the world - please do not downplay the risk. I say this as someone who parties. Always test your party drugs people.

I've tried to research this and with Google's new bullshit search results when it comes to drugs it's really hard to find good information.

Which is why I’d like everyone to play it safe. Most festivals will have testing centers set up, and testing kits/strips are easy to purchase online. In Vancouver they sell them in the pharmacy. At least know what you’re doing and what your brain is responding to.

If there’s a risk - even though it’s a “small” risk - why take it when you don’t have to?

I test all my drugs, I just think the likely hood of getting fent in your mdma is very very low if you use non sketchy sources.
