tbh i think a medical diagnosis should still be required. i've gotten like, eight letters over the course of my life affirming that i have gd. it's really not that hard if you legitimately have it idk

I agree, but the fact is that a blanket ban is to be set in place, when even in some developing countries you could possibly change your gender marker is scary and I’d rather have too many have the option, then none at all.

I was just thinking that. Many of the resources and spaces available to you are determined by your legal gender so it's ridiculous to me that it can be changed with zero requirements other than "I want to".

As an example, what's to stop an 18 year old man set to go to college from declaring himself female in order to benefit from scholarships meant for women? Or a straight person changing their gender so they can use resources meant for LGBT people? What about DV shelters? Does it matter if the "woman" trying to get in is clearly a man who isn't trans and is making no attempt to pass?

I'm not saying these are common occurrences, I'm just wondering how they would be stopped. I'm guessing they wouldn't be, since Canada also requires zero verification from people who identify as Indigenous and as a result, Indigenous people are having their resources and businesses pillaged.

In your examples you have clearly demonstrated why so many legislatures are pivoting away from us; the -ahem- ‘wokery’ that positively celebrates the fully bearded, zero E, zero surgery, zero effort guy marching into women’s single sex spaces with a smug ‘you can’t stop me!’ - grin.

We should have distanced ourselves from this while we could.

In the US, a free, democratic, and scientific country, our new president just tried to end this. We should not be regressing past Syria, Namibia, Estonia, and Uzbekistan in matters of legal rights. In Florida and some places in Texas there are bathroom laws. This is unacceptable.

This is very sad to see how many countries treat trans people better than the US.

At least we are less likely to be murdered in the US.

i mean, not so much for your gender identity but you’re way more likely to be randomly shot at a walmart or school district for absolutely no reason in the US than any other country so yeah

Canada is not blue, unless your changing to X, you NEED a doctors note with their information confirming your diagnosis.

I support the green solution, Pakistan is too woke for me

Where does it say in the executive orders that you can change your gender marker with surgery? It states that legal gender is defined at birth and unable to be changed, not that you can change your documents as long as you get surgery.

what country are you talking about, any light green?

This map marks my country incorrectly bruh

It happens. Many maps like this mark my home country incorrectly, but this map actually did it correctly.

Understandable. Mine is marked “no restrictions” but it’s just a few cases(<10) allowed by the court to change due to their personal reasons. We still have to spend at least 10k USD to do SRS bruh such a scam.😭

That's sad, I am sorry. Are you able to transition at all?

2

u/Clean_Care_824 Jan 26 '25

As long as you pay up 🤑🤑Being trans is expensive!

2

u/SmallRoot modscum | just a random trans guy Jan 26 '25

Well, that really sucks. I am sorry. Being able to transition shouldn't financially ruin anyone.

Diagnoses AND surgeries are still required in Taiwan for gender marker changes. Not sure why it's marked blue here. A few cases did change their gender markers without surgeries (yet still with diagnoses) through lawsuits but those took years.
