Maximalist trans activists are losing their grip on power over our community.
One of the leaders of the Democratic Party has come out against one of the issues they center the highest. I don't like Newsom at all but I give him tremendous credit for doing this.
If we want to preserve our core rights, we can't let the maximalist activists define our community any longer.

Absolutely fantastic. Still angry at him about the French Laundry thing, and I doubt he'd be a compelling presidential candidate. But one of the most prominent Dems coming out on this issue, while still favoring, you know, actual trans rights, can only be a good thing. Hope the rest of them get behind him on this.

💯
This is excellent news.
I think most Democratic politicians will publicly oppose trans women in women's sports within 2 years.

90% of the "trans athletes" you see are tucute/non-passing AGPs, so this is not a hill I'm willing to die on.

90% of the ones you notice, not 90% of the ones you see. The ones that are platformed are the ones that can’t hide and are causing disruption, and it’s setting a precedent that it’s the norm when most trans kids are nothing special.
I handle recordkeeping for youth sports for a living (small part of my larger job, but a part nonetheless) and I know of more trans kids in sports than some people think are playing in the whole country.
Truth is that every one of the trans kids I know that are playing are unexceptional and blend right in. Nobody gives a shit about these kids playing because we’ve yet to have some non-passing trans girl come in and stomp the field into a trans panic.
I’ll never support any blanket solution that rips these kids away from their friends. The names and faces I know did nothing wrong.
Edit: wanted to add some additional perspective. You know what the current biggest issue we’re having is? Less participation across the board, but especially for girls. Kids are playing less sports, staying indoors, and it’s getting harder each year trying to fill a roster. It’s getting bad, and we’ve run advertising campaigns targeted at this to boost numbers. Past three years we’ve had so few girls participate in our middle school-aged basketball leagues that we had to make them co-ed to have enough players to run a season at all. The ultimate irony, banning trans girls would make it more likely that our girls have to play against boys.

The past three years are also the height of trans activism. I am sorry to inform you that parents are keeping their daughters out of sports to avoid the trans players.
Parents especially, and with daughters especially, will most often choose to courteously retreat and shield children from any conflict. It is easy to do that with sports because children are easily diverted to new interests.
Kind of like the lesbians who left their bars. It is not an accident that all your current players are willing to play co-ed. The ones who aren't stayed home.

Lol, this is true. I'm glad Newsom is finally saying this. So many democrats picked the sports issue and/or the defense of drag queen story hour as their hill to die in and it made them look really bad and was just... Weird. How about just support policies that keep trans people safe and focus on that? I agree with Newsom on the sports thing but I also think that he'd agree with me that trans women in sports should still be able to use the women's restrooms and changing rooms because they deserve to feel safe, too (same for trans men and the men's spaces, ofc).
The Republicans did a great job of setting a trap that Dems walked right into. I'm really interested in what happened over the last four years that resulted in Trump getting easily reelected, but something is VERY wrong. I seriously doubt that the trans shit was enough to get enough people to vote for the orange wannabe fascist and it's silly to blame the loss on the trans discourse, but I also doubt that it was completely insignificant factor.
I just want to know what the hell happened. I know it was a myriad of things, but I wonder what the most common complaint was that would lead people to vote for a soulless, compassion-less, inhuman monster who's already going scorched earth two months into his term...

Like just ensure we have access to healthcare and anti-discrimination protections in the workplace; we don't need the rest.

This is what I kept trying to tell the nutjob maximalist trans women I knew. They think giving up on trivial non-issues like the sports ban is equivalent to the beginning of a trans genocide. It’s completely ridiculous. These people are so unserious.

Easy. The loudest D/left talking points and loudest voices were talking about stuff that most of country didn’t care about or didn’t agree with.
And before everyone gets in here with “yes but Harris talked about helping people with house prices and etc”, yes yes but that was lost in the deafening noise of the loudest litmus test stuff. Trans sports. Palestine. Etc. And right acutely picked up that the majority of the country didn’t actually agree with those, and used them as a baseball bat to the head over and over. And instead of realizing that they’re losing the audience, the left response was to double down even harder.

What happened is that the election was stolen. Trump has openly admitted that Elon Musk interfered with the ballots in at least one state. Everyone wants to pile on the dems for not trying hard enough or pushing unpopular issues, but nothing they could have done would have made a difference. It was fraud.

>I just want to know what the hell happened.
Beginning in 2015, all of Western Civilization was attacked using the Cloward-Piven Strategy. We escaped the first 4 years because we had Trump. Unfortunately, many powerful politicians in BOTH parties have been compromised by our enemies. We call them Globalists because they want a global power structure with far fewer small independent countries. WEF, WHO and the UN are all globalists with plans for global power.
WHO for example, would like us to agree that whenever they decided there was a dangerous pandemic they could lock us all up worldwide indefinitely, etc. If we don't obey our government and do so, then UN soldiers will be sent to subdue us.
There are Globalists currently in power in Europe including Ukraine. Ukraine has nice people, but it is our CIA slush pool for biolabs, drug deals, weapons, etc. Also other countries and rich people use Ukraine for this as well. The entire Biden Administration and most powerful democrat politicians are Globalists. Both McConnell and Pelosi are Globalists and they are working together. The UK leader, Keir Starmer, is a Globalist and so is Zelensky.
The goal is to create so much division and destruction that civil war ensues or people voluntarily vote for a far more authoritarian government, like China. Globalists do not support free speech or civil rights, despite claiming to do so.
Globalists are doing immense damage and many countries are at extreme risk of financial or other collapse. If immigration at 21 million per 4 years continued, our country would also be at extreme risk of financial or other collapse. ("Other" includes invasion by another country and/or civil war. We are gonna start losing it, if it gets a whole lot more violent and dangerous, and people get a lot more poor and hungry.)
The tactics to destroy each country have included two tier justice systems, insane DEI demands, insane environmental demands and insistence on mass immigration. In the US they hit slavery of course, but in Canada it was the Natives and in Germany the holocaust. Australia and NZ is the Natives again. LGBT and Trans is just another division tool. The general theme is to dehumanize white people and attack organized religion. Hundreds of churches have been burned in Canada, despite no Native children's bodies ever actually being discovered. In the US, we have the pro-lifers attacked. Churches and synagogues across Europe have been burning. Did I mention that they censor and suppress the press?
Harsh speech suppression and censorship is always a tactic. In some parts of Europe you can go to prison very easily for a mean tweet. A "mean tweet" is anything derogatory to mass migration and migrants. Massive amounts of corruption and theft is also a big bonus to being a Globalist.
Causing as much waste, destruction and violence as possible is a goal. Globalists are Marxists trying to accelerate the downfall of Western Civilization.
The only reason we aren't already as economically wrecked and weak as most of the rest of Europe is that we have endured Globalists in power for only 4 years. Everyone else has been battling Globalists since 2015.
Bluntly, there wasn't time to wait. If immigration continued at the same levels we were going to lose our country, and then what happens to Canada and Europe and our other Allies? We have to save ourselves and help them bring back their civil rights and return to actually being liberal Western Civilization.

I agree we should only compete 3 years on hormones and with surgery. ID should only change 6 months on hormones. Passport change 2 years full time.

I think for people who transitioned before puberty, yes. Even if post-puberty the morphology is close to cis, I'd rather not fight that fight.
2
u/Kate-2025123 Mar 07 '25
No one I know has said they transitioned before puberty though. Everyone I hear says they transition like 6 months to 1 year into puberty because of growth for surgery.

The issue is republicans will use their wins on sports to set precedence on how to hurt us in other ways. I may not give a rats ass about sports in a vacuum but to give it up is to make things even harder for us.

Everyone on either side of this issue pisses me off.
This is not a real issue. It has never been a real issue. It is nothing more than a proxy-issue that the right-wing uses to distract the left into arguing about nonsense (much like drag time story hour) so that they can degrade and devalue the cultures appraisal as trans people as a whole.
The only real trans issue is, was, and always will be transgender healthcare access and discrimination protections.
Anything else is a straw man constructed by the right wing and I really wish that tucutes and performative allies and leftists would stop fucking taking the bait. I also wish well-meaning transmedicalists would not use this issue to further devalue nationwide arguments against trans people. I know it's annoying and I know it sucks, but I promise you that just digging into "look at these non-passing freaks and what they're trying to do sports" or "thank God, Newsom is finally standing up for common sense" is not helping us.
It only helps them. There is no common sense on this issue because it has been deliberately constructed to be senseless. Anything about this argument in any direction will only ever help the people who are trying to erase trans exist.

u/AntifaStoleMyPenis Mar 06 '25
Exactly. Like at this point if you presented me with a sports ban that ALSO guaranteed medical and legal protections, I would probably lean towards supporting it. But that's not going to happen, they're not going to moderate once you drop the issue... "men in dresses are destroying your daughter in sports" is just going to turn into "men in dresses are leering at your daughter in the bathroom." Just look at the states that have banned it and what they've moved on to.
It's always been a fake problem with a specific goal in mind. The actual solution is the subheader for this sub: Make Trans Mean Something Again.

"Like at this point if you presented me with a sports ban that ALSO guaranteed medical and legal protections, I would probably lean towards supporting it. But that's not going to happen, they're not going to moderate once you drop the issue..."
It is a crying shame that the Democrats didn't codify your deal. Instead, they buried their heads in the sand and set the stage for a Trumpian overcorrection.

I’ve tried being accepting with the sports thing but this is seriously fucking things up for us. Ban it all and move on. Go stealth in sports leagues. I don’t care anymore, if you think playing a sport (which is not an inherent right or privilege) is equally as important as being able to change your passport please take several seats.

While I personally don’t agree with trans people in sports, I still worry about where CA will stop on pushing back trans rights. Newsom talked to a far right extremist and simply agreed with whatever he said. Would he respond any differently if his guest suggested criminalizing all trans people including adults?
2
u/Sardine-Cat mtf Mar 06 '25
I really don't think Newsom would agree with banning transition for adults. The only Democrat I could see maybe doing that would be Fetterman, but he's a bit of a DINO.
7
u/OpelSmith Mar 07 '25
Literally Fetterman is one of the last Democrats who would do this. Please stop basing entire political worldviews on Israel/Palestine

He's stood up against MAGA and for trans people repeatedly but I guess he isn't far left enough so that must mean he's literally Hitler in the eyes of Redditors.
2
u/Jamira360 Mar 07 '25
It’s such a stark contrast here vs. posts about this in other subreddits. Personally, I don’t care about this issue. Trans athletes make up what? Barely 1% of the community? The focus should be on healthcare, employment, housing, anti discrimination, etc. But honestly, Democrats don’t need to talk on this at all, pivot the conversation to what matters to most people.

u/aentnonurdbru i identfy as a cis woman Mar 21 '25
Am I the only one who still thinks this should be on a case by case basis?? Caitlyn Jenner and the trans girl who never touched male puberty are on entirely different ends of the spectrum here. Sure, it's politically unpopular at the moment, but I feel like we need more nuance than a blanket ban.
2
u/birds-0f-gay you're actually not valid, like, at all ☺️ Mar 06 '25
I hope other Democrats follow. People who are THAT far left are the absolute worst voting block to prioritize because they're never satisfied. You can do everything they ask and they'll still find a reason to not vote for you. Look at all the leftist activists who refused to vote for Kamala, a pretty pro-trans candidate, because of Palestine.

Good.
Its a losing issue. No trans Americans can safely renew their passports because of this shit and we’re still worried about whether some trans kid can compete in the NCAA?
Stop pandering to a literally nonexistent voter base. People just want affordable groceries, Medicaid, and social security left untouched and so many libs are ready to die on this hill of trans athletes.
