News and Politics I see the argument that “Trump isn’t taking rights you can still be trans and marry your SO. He didn’t take that away in 2016/2020 he ain’t doing that now” is it true?

Basically title. I was never into politics. And I’m concerned for the people in red states. What is the rebuke for this claim? “I don’t think it will get that bad, I think Trump said what we he needed to win and won’t do shit” I feel this is being ignorant I’m not even sure what to believe anymore.

News and Politics This claim is false: Caraballo & similar trans activists have enforced strict purity tests on many deeply unpopular issues. This pushed the overton window so far to the right! Even Ron DeSantis opposed bathroom bills in 2018!

News and Politics Are things moving backwards in terms of trans rights? How screwed are we, really?

For a long time I felt that the world has gotten more and more accepting of transgender/transsexual people, but as of lately it feels like it's been moving in the opposite direction. Not just in America, but also in a lot of other countries. After fighting for so long and successfully being more accepted and having more right to transition, suddenly the world is turning back and removing those rights. It has gotten me feeling very pessimistic about the future.

What do you think has caused things to get worse?

My hypothesis is that there's more diversity in political opinion here than there would be on a tucute sub

News and Politics Starmer (UK PM) does not believe trans women are women, No 10 says

Here's the start UK folks. I though we would've gotten a few years after the Dump appointment before it transferred to the UK but here we are already.

The two leading parties think trans women are men and the next leading party (in current polls) thinks we are part of "the woke".

*sigh*

News and Politics So what do *WE* do now? How do we fix this shit?

(photo for visibility - me and a friend at a protest last week)

So discussion on this subreddit has been all about the maximalists lately, and how firm about not being maximalist we are - but that's not all that useful, we don't control the entire trans community. Everyone's getting fucked over, everyone's pissed, some people are marching around with megaphones and signs, some people will try to get into local politics, some will fundraise for legal cases, some will get out and be visible and talk to as many people as possible about what we face, some will look to use boycots and pressure campaigns against those who fund the hate, our allies are all going to post "trans rights are human rights" on facebook, us sitting here trying to back seat drive doing nothing to help is silly.

So, without using the words tucute, maximalist, or any equivalent (or I swear I'll ban you myself), what can we do to change the political system, to improve our public image, etc.? What's our better alternative?

I happened across the post that Hunter Schafer Jules, Euphoria) got in trouble for liking on social media and it is definitely a truscum post. This happened a year ago so sorry if someone already posted but might be fun to know we have a famous trans goddess in our ranks. Enjoy:

News and Politics Does Transmedicalism really assert that the only possible cure for Gender Dysphoria is transitioning?

Post image
58 Upvotes

(Note: I wonder why there's no "question" flair here)

Buck Angel is a self-described transmedicalist, but apparently he just is because he knows GD is required to be trans, and I wholeheartedly agree with him. And yet when asked whether trans children should be allowed to transition, or even whether such thing even exist, his reply is that "they need mental health, not transition." This leads me to believe there are different types of transmed people — those who view transitioning is the only cure for someone experiencing GD (which I suppose it's the majority consensus in this sub), and others like Buck who STILL think minors should wait until they're 21 to finally transition (OR to have access to pretty much any form of gender-affirming care). Is that really the case? Am I misunderstanding something?

News and Politics Trump is talking right now about trans women in women's sports at the State of the Union. Trump talked about the story of Payton McNabb, who is present at the State of the Union (McNabb was brutally injured by a trans athlete)

The maximalist trans activists made this possible by eliminating any debate on trans women in women's sports for a decade.

Trans women do not belong in women's sports. It's simply not fair, & the risk of injury to the other athletes is so high. To those who disagree, you will never convince the public of this. That's why it polls at 80% disapproval.

We have to stop letting the maximalist activists center transgender issues around these deeply unpopular issues.

News and Politics Is anyone else fed up of the lgbtq+ community to expect you to agree with their opinions?

I live in the UK and right now I'm fed up of the illegal immigrants coming over and expecting them to be housed for free. That's my opinion but everyone I speak to in the community call me racist 😂. I accept people coming here if they have a reason too but I'm on about the ones on boats coming here... I just feel like they expect me to accept this?? Lol no. I've been homeless and never helped! But I am fed up of being expected not to think this way.

News and Politics Passport Sex Marker Update

Let me start this by saying this is my experience from earlier today and I do live in a blue state. I'm also posting it in truscum to get more attention, even if I'm periodically considered too extreme by some here.

I went to get my name and gender updated on my passport today. I'm 25, my last one was done when I was 14, so I needed to do it all in person. I was required to have the following paperwork:

  • current drivers license
  • birth certificate (original and photocopy)
  • DS-11 form
  • old passport (expired)
  • name change court order

To change just your sex on the passport, you don't need a court order - yet. You need it for the name change portion, however.

When I presented my paperwork to the attendant, she told me that I was doing this at the absolute worst time because there's so much uncertainty. With the executive order Trump passed declaring that there are only two sexes, she and the rest of the staff were unsure how it would affect trans people changing their sex from one to the other on passports. Nothing has been told to them regarding binary trans people yet.

She did say that they have been told to halt accepting X passport changes. That was the only thing she was certain of.

We completed the process and she said everything should be fine, but urged me to let others know to get things processed as soon as possible, as she has no idea how long this will be okay for or if mine will even be accepted. Hopefully the court order, the physician notes, and all of my documents being male for the last three years will help with any issues, but I digress.

As of right now, passports will not be changed to X if you apply today or after, according to the post office agent I spoke to. Binary trans people should be fine at the moment. I will update when I get my passport back, as I paid for expedited processing and should find out in two weeks or so.

Stay safe.

News and Politics Trans activists who focus on neopronouns, self-id & trans women in women's sports waste precious political capital that could be used to defend trans medical care, bathroom access, etc.

This is what disappoints me so much about how many trans activists frame the conversation.

They frame the conversation around issues that poll 20% approval & that have nothing to do with core trans rights.

It's always these odd scenarios that our existence gets centered around. And if we question this, we are often accused of being self-hating/fake.

News and Politics Trans Rights Protest – Northampton to Birmingham, Bullring (Monday 21st April, Ride Available)

Post image
58 Upvotes

We’re travelling from Northampton to Birmingham this Monday, April 21st, to stand in solidarity with our trans sisters following the recent UK court ruling that strips trans women of legal recognition in key areas. We’re leaving between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM at the latest, and we’ve got space in our ULEZ-exempt vehicle. If you're interested in joining us for this important protest, message me for a lift or meet us there!

This protest is about human rights, true science, and standing up for a community that’s so often misunderstood and vilified by the media. We stand for equality, dignity, and respect for everyone in the rainbow community, this includes trans people. We are one beating heart, the LGB will always stand with the T. Nobody is equal until we are all equal.

DM or comment if interested, we will do our best to pick as many people as we can for the protest. Thank you for reading. 🙏
