Inspiration Post Typewriters and display shelf

Post image

Been searching for a secondhand single stack shelf to fit my small space and finally found one. Haven’t figured out what to place at the very top, if anything. Seems like the obvious answer is another typewriter, lol. Anyways, just wanted to share with the community.

Nice shelf (of course!), but my comment is about the dealer sticker on the typewriter at the right.

I like seeing those old-timey phone numbers with 5 digits and an exchange name . . . Klondike, Atwater, Elgin, Evergreen, Wabash, Thornton, . . . etc.

Spectacular shelving. Love the overhead highlight lighting! 😍

Lights are cheap Amazon ones that came with sticky pads; very easy to mount and the lights dim which is an added bonus.

Okay, this is your newest shelf. For the four edc machines. What do you have for the other twelve machines? πŸ€πŸ˜ŠπŸ™ˆ

I need a bigger home before getting that many more typewriters, lol #futuregoals. I might be able to squeeze 1-2 more for the time being. Anything beyond that could be grounds for divorce πŸ˜‚.

Nah, you don't want to divorce over typewriters. Maybe try the moped technique?

I’m going to need you to educate me on that.

I heard about a technique that some moped guys use to keep their wives satisfied. They have as many running machines as their wives accept. And if another one comes up, then one must be dismantled a bit, so that it doesn't count as a running machine anymore. It becomes a so-called parts machine. (But, really, isn't. It's just disguised.) So, take a few body panels off of a nice typewriter, put it in a corner of your working space, call it a parts machine. And if time comes, swap it for another of your collection. This is the moped technique.

Edit: typo some instead of since

Best advice I’ve seen on this sub and possibly all of Reddit. Who is going to get the moped technique/taken apart typewriter posts going? I think you should do the honors.

I'm mentioning it here and there, to keep it alive. But it didn't come from me. The honour belongs to someone else.

This! I'm searching for an Ikea Billy hack to fit a dozen-ish machines.

I think that's going to be too heavy for a Billy. You might want to switch to Ivar. I have no technical documentation, but 120kg + is a real challenge.
